Zesco United looking to wrap-up job in South Sudan

Zesco United coach George Lwandamina says the team is cautious about what to expect from hosts Al Ghazala but is focused on advancing to the first round of the 2016 CAF Champions League in Friday’s away game in South Sudan.

The two sides meet in a preliminary round, final leg match in Juba with Zesco enjoying a 2-0 lead from the first leg played on February 14 at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

Al Ghazala frustrated Zesco despite the scoreline with an ultra-defensive display against their Zambian hosts in the first leg.

“What we are going out to do is to play well and proceed to the next round,” Lwandamina said.

“Going into this game they (Al Ghazala) will not stay back this time, they will come at us to unsettle us and try and get some momentum.”

And Lwandamina said he did not expect Zesco’s arrival on the eve of of the match to be a major factor nor that their morale was low after losing on post-match penalties to Power Dynamos in the 2016 Charity Shield semifinals last Saturday.

A draw in Juba on Friday afternoon will suffice for Zesco to see them through to the first round that commences during the weekend of March 12.

“Disadvantages and advantages are their in football. The motivating factor is wanting to go through to the next round not the margin it is the qualification that is important,” Lwandamina said.

Meanwhile, Zesco left Ndola on Wednesday afternoon for via Addis Ababa where they had a night-stop on their way to South Sudan.
