JAPAN has handed over a digital X-ray machine worth US$90,000 to Monze Mission Hospital to enhance diagnosis and treatment.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Japanese Ambassador to Zambia Kiyoshi Koinuma said the project has been made possible by the Grant Assistance for grassroots Human Security Projects programme.
“I am happy that we can supply this hospital with such high quality equipment. Healthcare and education have been high on our agenda of support to Zambia but healthcare is top priority. Apart from health and education, Japan is now contemplating support to energy and agriculture sectors, among others,” he said.
And president of Fuji Film Limited South Africa, Ryosuke Miki said digitalisation will enhance image quality for accurate diagnosis.
He has pledged continued help to Zambia for digitalisation through Japan’s high technology.
And Monze Mission Hospital medical superintendent Kakanda Ngalula said digitalisation of the X-ray department is historic.
Dr Kakanda said part of the grant was for training of staff to operate the equipment.
Ministry of Health permanent secretary Peter Mwaba said the total grant of US$118,000 has gone towards upgrading of the X-ray department out of which US$90,000 was used to buy the X-ray equipment.
In a speech read for him by University Teaching Hospital director of clinical care and diagnostic services Kennedy Lishimpi, Dr Mwaba said the machine would help health personnel to deal with complex diseases.

And you will see them taking their cows for xray. The sad thing is tongas don’t vote for development but tribe.

You mother fuc.ker! This equipment has nothing to do with voting! Had it been bought by your PF Govt it would have beden taken to Paul Mushindo District not Monze.
Of course there are digital Xray machines for cattle as well….in all developed countries! Uneducated PF cadres never cease to amaze me! You just eat beef and you think there is no health care for animals! OHG – how foolish can ever be! There are even lazer guided theatres and clinics for animals! You are too ignorant to know what I mean!
Since you can read partially, just visit a website called RSPCC to take some of the jungle out of your head – you PF Cadre!!
