Chief Mukonge of the Bemba speaking people and Chief Mukuni of the Toka leya have visited UPND Vice President Geoffrey Mwamba who is being held at Lusaka Central police.
The two chiefs arrived at central police at about 10:25 hours amid family members and party cadres.
After the visit Chief Mukonge told journalist that he has been sent by Paramount Chief Chitimukulu and the Bemba Royal Establishment to check on Mr. Mwamba.
And Chief Mukuni says he was there to give moral support to Mr. Mwamba.
He said he encouraged him to ensure that there is peace, unity and co-existence among political parties.
But PF Deputy Spokesperson Father Frank Bwalya says the visits to Mr. Mwamba should not be misconstrued to mean that people doing so are in agreement with what the UPND Vice President for administration did.
He told ZNBC News that what is happening is totally humanitarian where people who are in prison and sick are suppose to be visited, prayed for and offered food.
Father Bwalya says there is nothing wrong with Chief Mukonge visiting Mr. Mwamba because he is a subject of the Bemba Royal Establishment.
He is frank bwalya, not ‘father’ Bwalya. By the way, I can feel ur disappointment on senior Chiefs visiting GBM.

@Dodolipo…Chiefs in Bemba speaking provinces do not influence the outcome of votes. Their subjects are independent minded they vote as they wish.
