Northern Province Minister Freedom Sikazwe has cautioned Radio Mano staff to refrain from issuing alarming statements to the effect that some people are planning to attack their institution when in-fact not.
Mr. Sikazwe has refuted media reports suggesting that some individuals are planning to attack radio Mano community station in Kasama.
He said investigations carried out so far by security wings have established that none of the claims were true.
ZANIS reports that the Provincial Minister said there is need for responsible reporting among media personnel to avoid misleading the nation on matters of national interest.
Mr. Sikazwe further advised Radio Mano staff to report any matter bordering on security threats to relevant authorities.
And Radio Mano Community Station board chairman Allan Mwango said he will call for an urgent board meeting to discuss the concerns raised by the Provincial Minister and other stakeholders who may not be happy with the operations of the institution.
Meanwhile, Kasama District Commissioner Kelly Kashiwa and Patriotic Front member Kelvin Sampa have threatened to take legal action against Radio Mano Community Station for allegedly broadcasting false news against them.
Earlier this week, Radio Mano Community Station suspended its normal programming claiming there were threats directed at some staff at the institution.
Sounds like an incident at Wako, Texas decades ago, where a religious cult leader mind controlled his followers creating hysteria among them and raged against the authorities, in the end killing themselves after a gun run in. Sounds like the have developed a bunker like mentality.
These types of psychological behaviours are well known and are symptoms of seriously malfunctioning minds. I reckon the authorities should urge the Board to shut the station on their own accord.
Or Waco, I think!
Yes like the great bweengwa kidnapping for which every one in PF was jumping and shouting, but to date all victims and kidnappers have not been seen.
We are still waiting……
Hehehehehehehe… we saw the barner… August 11
Ka bwalya will tell you those banners were manufactured by a named party
Unfortunately, the current trend in the country towards political violence is to condemn the victims rather than the aggressors. If this attack had materialized, the honorable minister would have probably kept quiet or would have said the victims deserved what they got. There is no police protection for many of the potential victims so it is better for them to err on the side of extra caution to protect themselves.
You fools what do yo want, fatherless Bwalya organised people to beat him and now you failed here in Kasama stop your foolish campaign and lies
