Nkana triumph, Power tumbles, Mighty win

Nkana won again to stay top of the table to leave archrivals Power Dynamos trailing when the latter suffered a big defeat on the road.

Nkana were 3-1 winners at home over winless Green Eagles in Kitwe while Power tumbled 2-1 away at Nchanga Rangers.

A Walter Bwalya brace in the 27th and 49th minutes inspired Nkana to their second straight win after two rounds of games played.

His goals came after Cosmas Bulaya put Eagles ahead in the 4th minute.

Simon Bwalya scored Nkana’s other goal in the 33rd minute.

Meanwhile at Nchanga Stadium in Chingola, Nchanga stunned Power 2-1 to send the visitors to their first defeat of the campaign and see the hosts recover from their 1-0 away defeat at promoted Lusaka Tigers in Week 1.

Nchanga took the lead with just 45 second played on the clock through Bwalya Kasonde before Chongo Chirwa made it 2-0 in the 28th minute.

Power’s consolation came in the 39th minute through a thundering volley from Julius Situmbeko that he unleashed from outside the box.

At Shinde Stadium in Mufulira, Mighty Mufulira Wanderers stayed unbeaten on 4 points from two games after a 2-1 home win over Nkwazi.

Mike Katiba and Austin Banda scored for Mighty in the 6th and 15th minutes respectively while Edward Mwamba was on target for Nkwazi in the 30th minute.

At Sunset Stadium in Lusaka, Zanaco dispatched Lusaka Tigers to a 2-0 defeat in their Lusaka derby at Sunset Stadium.

However, Zanaco left it until late to snatch the 3 points through Potipher Zulu in the 73rd minute and Charles Zulu two minutes from full-time.

  2. Thanks a million Mighty Mufulira Wanderers for our victory over the paramilitaries. This is our year!

  3. the champion of northwestern province that was entertaining football well done and stay focused #Harder Na Radiants

  4. Mighty! They will surprise the so called big teams this season. I don’t expect Zanaco and Zesco to beat us at home this time around. Going to have tricky encounter with Kalampa but I predict we shall win at Shinde and force a draw at Nkana. All in all Mighty is back and watch this space!

    • My brother Zanaco and ZESCO are parastatal parasites. They play soccer on our tax money while Roan United is struggling to find a sponsor. The state must sponsor all teams not only those from loss making ZESCO and ZANACO.
