Congo tests Zambia’s away form

Share

Zambia face Congo Brazzaville away on Sunday hoping to redeem themselves after Wednesday’s first leg draw in the two sides 2017 Africa Cup Group E qualifier.

Chipolopolo will be looking for a better showing on the road after squandering 1-0 lead to finish 1-1 in Ndola against Congo.

That result left Congo and Zambia still 1st and 2nd respectively in Group E and tied on 5 points from two games played.

“It just wasn’t our day but in Congo, we will do our best and get the desired result,” Zambia midfielder Lubambo Musonda said.

“It is disappointing to draw at home but we have to keep our heads high and win Sunday’s game.”

Zambia, like Congo, are undefeated in Group E but boast of their only win that came on the road following a 2-1 victory over Kenya in Nairobi last September.

Congo are sure to test that away form after their opponents have failed to win at home where they have just picked up two points.

Furthermore, Zambia cannot afford a defeat in Congo with 3rd placed Guinea Bissau, whom they face in June’s penultimate round of matches, within ear-shot of them.

Guinea Bissau are on point behind Zambia heading into their final leg meeting with Kenya on Sunday whom they beat 1-0 at home last Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Zambia has suffered a defensive setback with defender Stopilla Sunzu ruled out of the Congo game due to suspension after accruing two yellow cards one on Wednesday and in last June’s 0-0 home draw against Guinea Bissau.

  1. F&&^^ck you can’t depress us that Stophila Sunzu is suspended… couldn’t you just have waited we ask ourselves? And what time is the match anyway?? Play like this:
    1. Mweene (Its just HARD to bench him over the better Jacob Banda)
    2. Kabaso Chongo
    3. Nkausu
    4. Adrian Chama
    5. Buchidza
    6. Nathan
    7. Chris Katongo
    8. Chansa
    9. Kalengo
    10. Mbesuma
    11. Kalaba

  2. The match 24?00 hrs zambian time, mbesuma, kalaba, chris , kabaso are not playing, they are at the police in congo, they never paid fees for prostitutes they took out yesterday. this is disadvantage to have a local kochi

    • ImWe guys not bad? Stop seeing what is here now and then feeling content about that. This draw means Zambia NEEDS to beat Guinea away and since they are now the league leaders they will fight tooth and nail. Congo will be at home to Guinea a much easier task. Kenya are as good as dead so congo have the much easier path. Zambia will have to hire an expatriate coach to qualify

  3. The difficult game was today, and the result was not bad.
Zambia will beat Guinea easy, and Kenya will destroy Congo at home.
