Energy Minister Dora Siliya has criticised the decision by the UPND to appoint Geoffrey Mwamba as the party’s running mate to Hakainde Hichilema.
Ms Siliya claimed that he she has informed that the appointment was made under duress.
She alleged that Mr Hichilema has pushed in a tight corner by some people she called new comers to the party who wanted to Mr Mwamba appointed running mate.
“It’s seems to most of us that the decision is under duress and quite contentious within the UPND. Some allege HH felt GBM would have been more destructive had he left him out than biting the bullet of his being the unpreferred running mate,” Ms Siliya said.
“There others who also claim HH will still pay a high price with GBM since he has ignored those who supported him unconditionally like Canisius. And even new comers like Scott and Miles hoped they would be running mates. Clearly many Zambians are still waiting to see what minimum qualifications GBM has submitted to the returning officer.”
She said President Edgar Lungu’s appointment of Inonge Wina as Vice President set the bar too high for the UPND.
Ms. Siliya said the new Constitution provides for a Vice President who cannot be replaced by the President.
“All I can say is that the difference between the PF and UPND is stark clear. It’s even more so between the leadership style of EL and HH. The PF President has been decisive in his choice of running mate, campaign manifesto, adoption process and even team building thereafter,” she said.
She added, “HH though has been pushed in a corner by the ‘newcomers’ who most analysts say have hurt HH more than build him. Even die hard supporters questioned HH alliance with Nevers calling it too desperate in trying to get the northern vote. I can’t wait to see how it all plays out.”

There is a problem in UPND right now.
It is clear that the explanation by HH to say that he picked GBM because he needed some who could soil himself, someone who is a hard worker is a serious lack of diplomacy as a leader.
It is a direct insult or at least belittling not only to Canicious Banda but also to all the other order members of the UPND.
HH has just told his faithful members that none of them was willing to soil themselves, none of them was as hardworking as GBM.
This is not that good for a leader, especially a leader of a party.

Can anybody in PF amplify policies included in Manifesto instead of blabbing non-stop about HH?
The PFoolish policies are:
1. Bash HH at every opportunity, day and night.
2. See HH as cause of every problem Zambia has, even though he has never been President eg. high mealie meal prices, high beef prices, mealie meal shortages. HH has enough money to buy up the whole country and manipulate prices.
3. Say one thing while organising the opposite eg. violence against the opposition, banning opposition coverage on national media
4. Deny responsibility for anything that’s not working in Zambia ie. powercuts, high prices for everything, fuel shortages, depreciating Kwacha, delayed salaries for civil servantsservants, late meal allowances for university students.
How a woman of no integrity and devoid of intellect (but endowed elsewhere I must admit) is made energy minister simply defies logic; but then again this is PF we are talking about.
Dollar Serial should be spending every day and night on figuring out how to eliminate the 10 hour powercuts instead of making nasty comments against HH. Her incompetent govt is failing to provide power to Zambians so that businesses can continue operating.
