Failure to pay back empowerment loans worries Youth coordinator

Northern Province Youth Development Coordinator Felix Lengwe has bemoaned the failure of youths in the province to pay back the loans obtained under the Youth Empowerment Programme.

Mr. Lengwe said that despite the province recording tremendous progress in youth projects, some beneficiaries are reluctant to pay back the loans.

He told ZANIS in Kasama today that his office will soon take action against the defaulters of the program, in order to speed-up the recovery of the loans.

Mr. Lengwe added that his office will come up with new modalities of collecting loans from beneficiaries as it has proved difficult under the current terms.

The Youth Provincial Coordinator revealed that government was aware that youths played a significant role in the productive sector of the economy hence the decision to empower them with loans.

  1. Please don’t lie to us that those loans were genuine . In reality those loans were issued as part of the campaigns to buy votes from the youth.

    • If they are true loans, what documentation or contracts do you have? Which youth organisations did you lend to? What collateral do you have? Answers to these questions will prove that in fact these “loans” were political gifts and the youths have delivered their part by recklessly voting for PF even as they danced to Dununa Reverse.

  2. Did Margaret Mwanakatwe pay back money she took from CEEC meant for vulnerable people? This is what corruption looks and smells like. Ministers stealing and abusing funds for the poor. Anywhere else in the world she would have paid back that money and forced to resign.

  3. What “loans” we’re these?

Just be honest and tell the people the truth. These were BRIBES by Lungu to rig and win the election. Taxpayers money used by corrupt politicians to fraudulently stay in power.

    These thieves must be JAILED!
