The Catholic Church Launch the Cardinal Mazombwe Foundation

The Late Cardinal Medardo Mazombwe
The Catholic Church has called on peace loving Zambians to take a leading role in caring for the less privileged especially in the education and health sector.

Speaking during the fundraising dinner and launch of the Cardinal Mazombwe Foundation held at Pamozdi Hotel last evening, Organizing Committee chairperson, Brig. General Emeldah Chola said she was delighted with the support the foundation was receiving and hoped for the continued support.

And speaking at the same event, Secretary General of the Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops, Father Cleophas Lungu said the creation of the foundation was a blessing to both the church and the country.

Father Lungu also said that it was pleasing to note that the foundation initiative came through ordinary Catholic members and not the clergy.

And Justice minister Given Lubinda, as guest of honour said he was glad that the foundation was created because Cardinal Mazombwes’ legacy needed to leave on because he was a good shepherd of the church and need to be honored as a national hero of Zambia.

Cardinal Joseph Mazombwe was the first ever Cardinal in Zambia on November 20, 2010 .

However, since Cardinal Mazombwe passed away on August 29th, 2013, the Catholic church has decided to continue with his legacy by creating the Cardinal Mazombwe foundation which was registered on 18th August, 2016.
