Kazungula District Commissioner Pascalina Musokotwane has warned government officers in the district to desist from absconding meetings of national importance.
ZANIS reports that Ms. Musokotwane said it was a bad habit for some government officers to shun meetings whenever they are called upon to discuss the development needs of the district.
She pointed out that such an attitude was a drawback to the development of the district and warned that officers continuing with the habit of absconding meetings will be dealt with accordingly.
Speaking ahead of the first Independence Day preparatory meeting, Ms. Musokotwane said she was aware that some government departments and members of staff deployed in Kazungula were still operating from Livingstone.
The District Commissioner noted that coordinating the departments whose offices are still in Livingstone had become a challenge and advised the affected departments and officers to adhere to the directive of attending the meetings.
Ms. Musokotwane appealed to the officers to remain committed and work hard to ensure that plans of developing the district are realized.
