Zambia Postal Services help administer Social cash transfer

The Zambia Postal Services (ZPS) says it has partnered with government to help administer Social cash transfer (SCT) in Nakonde District of Muchinga Province.

ZPS Postmaster General Macpherson Chanda says government through the Ministry of Community Development and Social Warfare will next month commence paying the beneficiaries of social cash transfer through ZAMPOST.

He pointed out that the Postal Services will soon erect more pay points in different parts of the district to help government in achieving its vision of empowering the vulnerable in the district.

ZANIS reports that the Postmaster General revealed this when he paid a courtesy call on Nakonde District Commissioner Field Simwinga at his office today.

This development to pay Social cash transfer beneficiaries through ZAMPOST which has until recently being implemented in Luapula , Western Provinces, will now be rolled out to Muchinga, Northern and Northwestern Provinces.

And Nakonde District Commissioner Field Simwinga says it is pleasing that government has engaged the ZAMPOST which he said will bring efficiency and accountability.

Mr Simwinga said currently teachers are being used as pay point managers for social cash transfer a system he said at times proved to be inefficient.

ZAMPOST is currently Nakonde District meeting some of the beneficiaries under social cash transfer to explain on the new changes to the program.

And the Government is just watching @
