President Edgar Lungu has refuted claims that the 2021 General elections will be characterised with violence, but has firmly stated that they will on the contrary be characterised with peace.
President Lungu said that the forthcoming general elections in 2021 will be characterised with peace, adding that anyone who tries to perpetuate violence going forward, will not be tolerated.
ZANIS reports that the Head of State emphasized that Zambia is a Christian nation and will abide by the One Zambia One Nation motto, coined by first Republican President Kenneth Kaunda.
President Lungu was speaking on arrival at Harry Mwaanga Nkhumbula International Airport in Livingstone today, where he is expected to officiate at the Eastern and Southern Africa Assembly of Accountants’ General Conference.
He said he is not going to segregate, in his developmental agenda for the country, but will continue pushing the economic agenda forward for the benefit of the Zambian people.
“Some people think we do not care for Southern Province just because the region did not vote for the Patriotic Front, that is not the case Southern Province will receive equal development just like any other region,” he said.
The Head of State is accompanied to Livingstone by Presidential Affairs Minister Freedom Sikazwe, Finance Minister Margaret Mwanakatwe and his spokesperson Amos Chanda.
President Lungu was received by Southern Province Minister Edify Hamukale, Patriotic Front Southern Province Chairperson Lawrence Evans, senior government and party officials.
Words must match action.

You cannot steal this much and allow others to freely campaign .. its not possible the PF will fight to retain power. Contrary to what most of you suggest especially the PF supporters the difference between what UPND gets and PF at Presidential level is a small margin which can be swung by a few constituencies shifting from PF to even another party. So Edgar is not as honest as some people might want to suggest he will make sure 2021 will be very difficult for the opposition to campaign and naturally they will also push back resulting into violence

Through dialogue bwana, you could have made an agreement amongst parties to demilitarize your cadres, no military or security style fatigue among cadres, no referring to each other as commander among cadres and all security matters for all leaders to be handled by police, no ferrying cadres from others parts to an election area only party officials, this is stuff that can only be achieved through sitting on a round table, because their no law that forbid any cadre to move aimlessly and calling each other commander, sometimes i wonder how military men feel to hear mere civilians addressing each other as commander. Anyway dialogue is now water under the bridge as we talk now it’s now Indian ocean water.
Lungu cannot promise peaceful elections when he is refusing to dialogue. No peaceful election is guaranteed when Lungu is the overseer of PF thugs who maim people with impunity. Lungu cannnot assure the nation to have peaceful elections when Kampyongo who has team of thugs with machets remains Minister of home brutality. How can Zambia experience peaceful election with rampant corruption promoted by the president himself. Mr Lungu had nothing to say upon arrival in Livingstone. No one can trust the humble man.
The country could not hold a peaceful by-election in Sesheke, what more 2021. God help us
