The Patriotic Front Central Committee has removed Christopher Kango’mbe as Copperbelt Provincial Vice Chairperson for gross misconduct.
PF Secretary General Davies Mwila says Mr Kang’ombe, however, remains an ordinary member of the Party and Mayor of Kitwe .
Mr Mwila said during a Press briefing at the party secretariat in Lusaka that Mr Kango’mbe was given seven days to exculpate himself but refused to avail himself before the disciplinary committee.
He said the Central Committee resolved to uphold the recommendation of the Executive of the Provincial Executive Committee to remove Mr Kango’mbe from his position.
Mr Mwila further said Mr Kango’mbe, however, has the right to appeal the decision of the Central committee in July at the party’s General Conference.
He warned that the party will not tolerate indiscipline from its members regardless of positions the hold because it is a fundamental value and principle for the growth and strengthening of the party.
“When the matter was brought up before the Central Committee, His Excellency, President Edgar Chagwa Lungu declared interest and recused himself from chairing the meeting with regards to this particular agenda item. The President delegated the Chair to Her Honour the Vice President, madam Inonge Mutukwa Wina,” said the PF Chief Executive Officer.
“As Secretary General, I wish to send a very strong warning that the party shall not tolerate indiscipline from its members regardless of their position in the party.”
And the PF Secretary General said all party members are free to contest any position at the forthcoming General Conference to be held at Mulungushi Rock of Authority in accordance with the party constitution.
“In view of the above, the Central Committee has directed the Party’s Elections Committee to conclude the remaining provincial elections by the end of April 2020 in readiness for the July General Conference,” said Mr Mwila.
The truth that PF realise this displinary case was a sham in the first place and should never have been raised in the first place hence a slap on the wrist of removing him from party position as opposed to expelling him. This is proven by the fact that even after him showing further contempt by not attending the hearing they could not met out a stiffer penalty. They can not afford to lose such a credible and well liked leader in a key location and position as Kitwe mayor on such flimsy grounds. Sense for once!!
Declared interest because the Mayor refused to parade for his wife. Hypocrisy at its best. A man and president of integrity would have told the party please reinstate this man I don’t want my wife’s name to be brought into party politics and my presidency. But see how the humble man pretends to be humble, declares interest when this disciplinary measure is based on the fact that the mere should have knelt before his wife who is not her boss. Edgar is indeed a pretender and how hate the pretency of this man. How horrible and gullible Zambian can be to be dribbled by this man.
The Mayor should have knelt before his wife
He’s better-off than dealing with dunderheads.
No one is above the party rules. Meanwhile if anyone knows that woman who has been posing with chella tukuta or whatever he is called these days, tell her to contact me as soon as possible. It is urgent business .kz
This article doesn’t even tell us what the mayor has done to be disciplined.
This is so childish, honestly the first lady has no official title and is not the Mayors boss.
Can someone tell Kaizer Zulu to eff off! He is becoming a nuisance, he is like vermin.
To kneel before someone’s wife? Very backward thinking. You don’t have to bow before a person without official standing in society. The mayor is a hero who knows his standing in society, well-done Kitwe boy
@The 13th disciple, if someone is irrelevant to you just ignore that person and that is that
“When the matter was brought up before the Central Committee, His Excellency, President Edgar Chagwa Lungu declared interest and recused himself from chairing the meeting with regards to this particular agenda item”. This is what he did too when the agenda item for “gassing” and mob justice came up, he declared interest, we now know the reason for that declaration, he is the one who dispatched the gassers!
I am really concerned about the reading levels of Zambians. In this case the president did well to recuse himself. The onus was on the vice to drop the case and let the gallant brave mayor of Kitwe win this one. The First Lady seems to put the president in awkward situations. Reason First Ladies should be kept away from official ceremonies and national work affiliated spaces, unless she is visiting on a venture related to her. Had he refused to greet the Vice President that is a different matter. A First Lady is that a First Lady. We respect her, but the other government PF affiliates are out of line here. Especially Davis Mwila. He has been bitter ever since losing his MP position to an independent.
