MMD sets March 25 as nomination date

Share

The ruling Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) has set March 25, this year as the date for filing-in of nominations for members wishing to contest various positions in the party structure at the forthcoming party convention slated for April 5.

Party Spokesperson Dora Siliya announced at a press briefing in Lusaka today that the filing of nominations would be done at Mulungushi International Conference Centre (MICC).

Ms. Siliya said the filing-in of nominations would only be one day and advised party members from across the nation to travel to Lusaka if they were eligible to contest at the upcoming MMD extra-ordinary party convention slated for 5th to 7th April, 2011 in Kabwe, Central Province.

ZANIS reports that Ms. Siliya, who was flanked by MMD Acting Chairman for Elections Gabriel Namulambe further advised party members to apply to the Acting National Secretary Chembe Nyangu before March 25th failure to which they would not be eligible to contest positions in the party.

“The date for filing in of nominations is March 25th, at the MICC. Party members standing for positions in the party should travel to Lusaka because the filing in of nominations will be conducted for only a day and members vying for positions in the party must apply to the Acting National Secretary, Mr. Nyangu before the extra-ordinary party convention set for 5 – 7th April, 2011, “ Ms. Siliya said.

Ms. Siliya, who is also Minister of Education, maintained that only sound members of good standing with the party would be considered for positions.

And Ms. Siliya disclosed that the party has invited stakeholders from the private sector including political parties outside the country to come and witness the MMD extra-ordinary party convention.

She said 1,500 delegates were expected to attend the convention including other stakeholders from neigbouring countries, whom she did not mention.

Ms Siliya stated that the ruling party was a democratic party, transparent and accountable to the Zambian people unlike other opposition political parties that she described as a ‘one-man-run’.

She further disclosed that K4 billion would be spent at the convention and added that preparations have reached an advanced stage.

She said sub-Committees have been established such as Catering, Accreditation as well as the Security and Mobilisation Commissions to ensure that there was smooth running of the convention.

And MMD Acting Chairman for Elections Gabriel Namulambe said only fully paid-up members should file their nominations.

Mr. Namulambe, who is also Works and Supply Minister, however, urged party members to support their party as it prepared for the tripartite polls later this year.

Meanwhile, MMD has doubled nomination fees for presidential and national Executive Committee (NEC) members.

Party Spokesperson Dora Siliya announced that the fees for the position of president have been adjusted from K5 million to K10 million, vice-president from K2.5 million to K5 million while those of NEC members would be K2.5 million.

MMD National Trustee and Republican Vice-President George Kunda has shown willingness to contest the vice presidency of the party.

Ms. Siliya explained that her position of Information and Publicity Secretary in the ruling party comes by appointment and she was not contesting.

“You may be aware that my position remains the same and lam not standing,” she said.

  1. Let the comedy begin. This is now getting exciting. Bitter losers will spill the beans or form political parties

  2. What nominations? I thought they sack anybody that tries to contest any positions! Not that I like those sacked. I hate them all too. All those going to file in have been told where to and where not to prior to this public meeting.

    What a waste!!

  3. Bane does anyone know a dude by the name of WELLINGTON KANSHIMIKE? He took money and goods from people here in the US and promised to ship to Zambia. It is almost a year and he has gone underground. The last we heard he was in PA area.

Welly if you are reading this, please come out clean before this explodes. We have given you enough chances.

  4. Why should you go for convention when you know who will be who???Whoever wants to stand for an already given position is bared and fired and intimidated not to dare step a foot in Kabwe. And this is wat you call democracy!!!! FINE……

  5. Sata is not a dictator even if he was his health would fail him, surely as Zambians we can give him just 5 year. Yes he has an abbrasive character but thats what gets things done. Some of us have had bosses who were like Sata but we respected them because they delivered. Now to run a nation is not a job for anyone its a job for someone who has the character and the strength for it, not anyone can do it. Now Sata has gone through a lot of change even as a person. Previously by now we would have expected Sata to say he does care avout HH and UPND, but alas he has remained quiet which to me is a great sign of maturity. GIVE SATA A CHANCE!

  6. Waste of time, what for when all the positions are known. MMD, huh, i wonder why you still have a chance to rule Zambia,

  7. The only thing ba Sata needs to complete his run is dental reconstruction otherwise I like his character.

  8. # 5 Be honest,

Yes i’m one of those here who know WELLINGTON KANSHIMIKE at a personal level since his arrival in the US some years back. I can reach him for you. He is a very humble, focused and few innovative Zambians i have known in the Diaspora. He has been shipping containers with people’s goods to Zambia besides buying16 wheeler trucks here for resale in Zambia for some time now. I can give you my email if you need to be linked with him here in the PA area.

  9. # 5 I hear That ASS HOLE WELLINGTON is now in Zambia….Kitwe. his agent Gladys Pule is still in Dallas. He can run but he will never hide

  10. let help our brother and sister in japan Zambia. We are shameless not to be talking about the plight of our friends. We are shameless yet devils because it won’t be long before we go back and start begging for money. what kind of people are we. let sow that seed of brotherhood and help. Please load the ZNS in a plane with brooms, shovels sleeping bags and flush lights. This is above politic its our conscious.

  11. Kafue # 12,

Kashimike has not returned to Zambia except his family. He is still here in PA. Just last month he shipped one truck to Zambia with another one to Kenya for the South Sundan market.

Zambi-can # 13, He calls you on which number from this statement?

  12. #11 – Wellington is not an honest person. Honest people dont take people’s money and run. Please put his email and phone number here. He needs to explain himself. In my opinion he is a conman who will get what he deserves. He is a fake pastor too with women all over America. Isnt he married?

Let him come out in the open and explain what happened to our goods if he is honest.

  13. # 15 if he is still here then he is not taking calls from us here in Dallas area.If you want to help please cal me on 2143360489

  14. Meanwhile, MMD has doubled nomination fees for presidential and national Executive Committee (NEC) members.

Take that all you broke MMD party members lol.

  15. @
Zambi-Can I was thinking the very same we need to help the Japanese in the light of brotherhood. Japan has been there for us with no quam or I’ll feelings. Prayers for them aswell.

  16. I’m trying to see if redcross will take donations from individuals. Well meaning Zambian, i’ll let you know thru’ red cross for donations. mind you the global warming has no predication and tommorrow might be zambia. lets help as concern zambians not govt of Zambia.

  17. the doubling of nomination fee is way to remove unwanted persons means only those in power right now wil easily afford and those rb wants he will pay for them.

  18. Kafue,

Yes Kashimike is very much around right here in PA. If you researched further you would find that his services here in the PA are being recognized by the community and institutions. A further push with the US customs and Border Control will prove that he is here making some big shipping to Zambia. I will reach out to him this evening.

    Be honest,
I can only speculate that that container you shipped your things in was a cheap deal gone bad and recovery without insurance is practically impossible for both you guys that paid cheap and Kashimike the owner.

Secondly, you are not helping yourself by going emotional here when your approach should be as Kafue is doing here. Even if i have the privige of linking you up because i don’t help people who behave your way. Sober up…

  19. Thanks #5 and 11.The guy Pungwa claiming to know Wellington thats Wellington himself.I just put my # on the line for him to call me….now since its him and he knows my # he won’t call. This Guy togather with Gladys Pule came and got our goods and money.frome Dallas. They dumped the goods in Atranta. For over 6 months he was unable to Ship.At one point he sent a driver to Atlanta without enough money to pay storage. He borrowed $250 from a guy here in Dallas to pay storage fees.He failed to pay the $250 back.We have since shipped our goods with another gentlman from washington DC. This guy is a con artist Zambians stay away from him.He pretends to be a church guy.You can run but we will get your ass and grind it into dog meat

  20. # 25 Kafue,

This is where our Zambian failure manifests itself. You said Wellington is back in Kitwe now i have been turned into Kashimike himself? Those are very poor ways of investigating matters with zero return. All just because i have said i know and see him here in PA. And if i told you i’m in Plano, Richardson or Farmers Branch what are you going to call me?

  21. Wellington (Tazama guy – Ndola) old habits die hard… got stuff 4rm me in 1990… when I came back 4rm Engy, never botherd to pay till I lost track of him…good luck fellaz…

  22. Be honest,

Sober up i have just talked to Kafue on the given number over this issue. He has shared details. I promise to do my best in connecting you to Kashimike you should talk to in my presence right here in PA. Absolutely no need to scadalize each other on a public domain because its never a solution to differences.

  23. #5 Be honest, Get in touch with Ben Kangwa, First Secretary for Press and Public Relations at the Zambian Embassy who is a close friend/associate to WELLINGTON KANSHIMIKE.

  24. LT Editor, whats the moderation for as if I ma posting information not in the public domain. Google the net and you will find that information in The Post by Edem Djokotoe, 26 February 2010.

  25. Pungwa is Wellington himself. What does Immigration have to do with your taking people’s money? Ala ukalapila you psychotic fool. You are the one who needs to sober up and come down from your grandiose ideas of immigration and community recognizing you. Fair enough we will call homeland security and see if they have a record of you.

We work hard for our money here and our relatives were expecting those good until your ball-less ***** self came and ripped us off.

Businesses fail but you owed us an explanation and at least return our goods. You are just a common thief.

  26. Be honest,

Call Kafue on the number he has given because i have already talked to him on the phone. He has talked to Wellington in the past and before taking up his services. Ask him if he still takes me to be the person you have issues with. I mentioned the Customs and Border Controls because the keep records of what container goes and comes in in the USA. At no point have i mentioned the immigration. Your confusion points to reason why you are burning.Give me your phone like Kafue did i talk to you directly for you to clear your confusions and assumptions.

  27. #31 The only number you deserve to call is the Police at 215-685-3251 and turn yourself.

What you need to be doing is calling everyone you defrauded and plan restitution

  28. You guys in USA you have made my night short, Why do we always want to shot each other in our necks as if there is no tomorrow.? Surely the world is too small for anyone to cheat one another. The means of communication is on the finger tips. Bumpombwe muleke.

  29. Wellington Kashimike former Tazama worker How do you come to America only to make fake deals of shipping when you cannot meet the deal. Please you have put a alot of people in a very bad situation pay back

  30. By the way Kafue Its Getrude Pule not Gladys….thats the girl Wellington used to collect money from us

  31. The MMD via a special State house monitored task force has spent K25 billion since beginning of the year on activities to disrupt cohesion in the Pact. The scheme seems to be yielding dividends going by the latest events in the Pact that is on the verge of collapse.
This special task force is headed by the party’s chief whip Vernon Mwanga and assisted by state house presidential aid Austin Sichinga.
The money has been used to pay chiefs in Southern province to threaten to disown HH if he remains in the Pact. The chief led by Mwanachingwala and Mukuni have netted about K500m each plus a car of their choice. Chief Mukuni is since ever in Lusaka driving past Arcades and Manda hill malls in his latest BMW 7 series.
The next target lines has been some UPND and PF members of parliament (MPs)…

  32. The next target lines has been some UPND and PF members of parliament (MPs) who have been instructed to create confusion and counter progressive statements to ensure the Pact does not succeed. The MPs that were paid K250M each mid February are Peter Machungwa (PF), Elizabeth Chitika (PF), Faustina Siyangwe (PF), Besa Chimbaka (PF),Anson Sinama (PF), Douglous Siakalima (UPND), Garry Nkombo (UPND) and Highvie Hamududu (UPND).

The UPND troika have been promised another K2 Billion each if they can deliver UPND to partner with MMD. The exchange of cash usually happens at Arcades car park between 8 and 10 pm when Pajeros and Landcruisers park side by side.

Selected pastors like BIGOCA’s Ndlovu and NGO presidents like Edwin Lifwekelo are on K50M to issue anti Pact statements

  33. It’s very sad that my dying party MMD can’t see the writing on the wall the that Patriotic Front (PF) has made very serious in-roads is as far winning this year’s Presidential and Parliemntary elctions are concerned and nothing is being done to bring the Image Builders. Anyway which is the biggest fear that has gripped the MMD is that someone will surely challenge RB at the convention at the last minute and watch the disintegration of the already craked party comprising the true blues and the ooprtunists….

  34. # 37 If what you have stated is true then we are in trouble as a nation, but history as always taught us that there comes a time when masses can rebel and no amount of money can buy them…Former ”President” Chiluba accumulated so much but then without peace of mind…..it was all a futile exercise.Mwanawasa is no more but the man is so scared about change that he can do anything to ensure that President Banda remains in power at all costs.

  35. Bushe ba PF TABAKWATA WEBSITE.? I have googled and googled nothing… nothing, all am able to find is Hakainde’s websites. Am beginning to think we really need new blood in positions of leadership. CHECKOUT HH’S SITE

  36. wellington’s last number was:440-382-7740 or 814-677-4679 though he may not answer.I am one of his victims…I lost thousands of $ to him. Those who support him must wait until he stings them,He is in oil city PA in a live in hide out of his. I know five more of people he has conned in the name of having a joint venture with them after which when he runs out of stories to tell them he just stops answering calls.

  37. # 11, Pungwa, stop helping this conman. The trucks you are mentioning here were not shipped by Wellington. Those trucks were for a colleague of his in Mufulira – CC, I wont mention his name. who is a big shot, and bought those trucks somewhere in California and Wellington was given money to find shippers. Wellington turned around and flaudulantly sued the supplier of trucks. Surprinsingly innocent and not involved people were mentioned as plaintfuls to the case. A Nigeria colleague wanted to buy trucks and get modified for oil from the same supplier was denied in anger by the supplier saying that Africans cannot be trusted. I am not surprised that now Wellington’s name is being paraded here in the open on LT. Another person in Cal is paying IRS because of Wellington. He is a danger.

  38. All those talking about Wellingtone, it seems you have enough evidence and proof that the guy, a Zambian, is tricking his fellow Zambians. Call Homeland Security. let the guy be arrested for the crimes he is committing. You shall help in this way to take out one bad element from the streets.

  39. #7 Paolo Di Canio- Kula ubuchende bwakupela makufi- That is the only tangible out come at MMD conventions- Oh even Unip did it, one MCC woman was made pregnant at Mulungushi Rock of Authority

  40. # 46 Deja Vu, You have broken my ribs! A frog????? MMD this is what you get for a stage managed convention, DISRESPECT, DISRESPECT, DISRESPECT!!!!

  41. The orientation of the retina (the center of the eyeball) is usually towards the bottom but Dora’s orientation is clearly towards the top leaving a clear sclera (white part) running the entire bottom length giving the impression of a person “kicking the bucket”. No wonder she wears shed, even under the shed. What a bunch of nullity bull, ugly cow!

  42. People who speak volume like Wellington Kashimike, are dangerous in the world please success don”t come through that way. Work hard but for you sir it is already too late since you owe people alot of money backdated 1990s. All you need is to humble yourself before these people call us one by one as you did before.

  43. I hope Kanshimike is not of a certain popular tribe. Otherwise, alatusebanya! You can also report him to America’s Most Wanted!

  44. “Pungwa” that is how you used to call each other with late Ronald Sikazwe of Tazama? Chi Pungwa niwe wine Kanshimike. Atase
