Former Republican Vice President, Nevers Mumba, has filled an injunction to restrain his land lord from selling the house which he is currently occupying.
The house on Plot Number 2883A, on the Great East Road, in Lusaka, belongs to Wilhem Roma Buchman.
In his statement of claim Dr. Mumba says on or about October 30, 2006, Mr. Buchman offered him to rent the property with an option of buying it which he accepted.
The two parties executed a lease agreement for a term of one year, which Dr. Mumba now claims is not being respected.
On May 14 this year, Mr. Buchman offered Dr. Mumba to buy the house for 850 thousand US Dollars.
The terms of offer on buying the house were stipulated and the first installment was to be paid on December, 31 2008 with an initial sum of 255,000 Dollars.
Dr. Mumba said he has not been able to conclude the purchase of the property and has been greatly inconvenienced.
Dr. Mumba was one of the people who contested the MMD elections recently to choose a presidential candidate.

Failure to read and comprehend issues is what is killing our country. Some of you here are ‘shooting’ aimlessly and expressing ignorance of the highest order. You have not understood the issue at hand. The story does not say Nevers has been evicted for not paying rent. The lease- with option to buy is being violated by the landlord. Hence the legal proceedings. The agreement in layman’s terms was: ‘Rent my house for 1 year, after that buy it for $850 000. Pay the first installment on Dec 31st 2008, of $255 000’. This contractual agreement was agreed upon and signed by both parties.
We are now in September, 3 months BEFORE the due date of the 1st installment, the landlord has backed out of the agreement. Nevers has NOT failed to pay, but the landlord is breaking the contract, seemingly trying to sell the house to someone else. That is why they are now going to court. For Breach of Contract, in essence. Some people here need to repeat Nursery and Primary School for ‘Reading and Comprehension’. Understand the issues before responding.

Can someone from ZRA inform the public how much tax has been paid by Rev. Nevers Mumba if he can afford to buy a $850,000 house and be able to pay a $250,000 deposit. I wonder how much rental he is paying for the house in question, maybe he sold his house in the USA for a million dollars. #76- you do have a point. The lease agreement entered into on October 30 2006, if for 1 yr, expired on October 30 2007. There’s no telling if it was extended, since this is now almost 1 year later in 2008. I don’t see how Mr. Mumba would have continued to live in the house if the agreement was not renewed. Either way, we are just speculating here. The full truth will be known in court.

I am trying to understand the connection between the alleged prostitution/illegal activities by Zambian students in Russia and Pastor Mumba’s housing situation…? Unless someone is trying to accuse the unfortunate students of greed. In which case, I have to point out that any extracurricular activities being undertaken by the hapless students is out of desperation and not out of any form of extreme “wealth-seeking behaviour” on their part. These people will be freezing to death soon if nothing is done to help them. Or are they dead already (like the faith of some).

For more than 24 years that Nevers was at the helm of Victory Ministries the church Never built a single structure to worship from.The church would always operate from rented premises such as cinema halls, theatre halls and gynasiums.He has ruined many people’s lives by convincing them to leave their professions to join victory ministries. He was given a big house opposite C.B .U in Kitwe by an old woman. The house was reposed by her son many years later. He wants to live a life he cant afford.
