Zambia Airways starts repaying debt

Share

The National Airports Corporation Limited has put Zambian Airways on a daily cash repayment mode to recover a debt of over 1.9 Million US dollars.

This debt has accrued through unpaid air passenger service, landing, parking, ground handling and air navigation charges.

Acting Managing Director, Robinson Misitala, says 50 percent of the current debt is as a result of non remittance of the passenger service charge.

Mr. Misitala told ZNBC news in a statement that there is nothing sinister about the debt owed by Zambian Airways.

He said the daily cash payment schedule will run until the entire debt is liquidated.

Fuel is so expensive .Only your minister are affording it Mr President RB please explain .

  2. HH for President.Among those 2 old tired men standing for Presidency, you’ve impecable credentials. Its time we uplifted the office President by nt voting midiocre Presidents into Office.

  3. Politics are dirty, very dirty. You elect people into office and they turn around and start to control you.I will vote for myself.here goes the country.

  4. This story was hussed up by magande to support his main sponsors. now that they have lost to RB the mouse is out from the bag. Shame on the Post for having links to zambian airways and for trying to fight this purely corruption scandle. How will Mtembo Nchito prosecute himself?

The task force on corruption is itself corrupt. MMD out. Nowander sata said LPM (MHSRIP) did not know what some ministers were doing. he was the only sane one fighting corruption whilst his ministers were deeply rooted in it. RED CARD mmd in SMALL LETTERS come 30th Oct.

  5. #1 I second you. I also fail to understand why our fuel is expensive and if its the taxes that make it more expensive then why doesn’t the government reduce the taxes and just why is are Zambian citizens not so concerned about the issue of high fuel cost in Zambia? That is why the government keeps quite too as the saying goes “if you don’t complain, well then you are happy”

I personally need clear answers on this issue????

  6. the same chaps who are celebrating this unfortunate situation of Zambian Airways will be the ones chocking with envy at how other airlines are thriving. why should the post and the Nchitos be prosecuted for accruing debt from their Govt. where else are they going to run to. at times i get frustrated with our reasoning as Zambians. we at times become so petty to an extent where we are blinded by a lot of hate. if the Nchitos are corrupt prove it and let them serve time in jail rather than just talking trash which cant be substantiated.

  7. I am very saddened and bitter on how some of us Zambians reason and perceive issues whether at home or abroad! Because of jealous, hatred & personal agendas we tend to be people of short memories. It is like in a home where the parents supports the neighbour ‘s children & ignores there own. This is exactly what is happening in Zambia. Zambian Airways debt should not be something so big that we should even forget pressing issues that affect the common Zambian. Let us talk about developmental issues like how we are going to aradicate poverty, HIV & AIDS,UNEMPLOYMENT,HEALTH,EDUCATION,ETC. Let Zambian Airways problems be soughted out by the airline’s Management and NACL on a mutual basis.UBWATO!

  8. its a shame to have people who cant manage airline in zambia.why cant we have people with heart for zambians than selfish jokers mismanaging zambia our GOD blessed country

  9. Finally Zambian Airways has to pay. NACL please make sure that Nchito,Fred and whoever is involved pay up to the last cent.

  10. I dont trust these pipo now,Fred and the Nchito’s. They were bizzy not reimating moneys due to national airport thats y the hav landed in the mess the ar in now. The’ ar things that u ar good at and i can tell u this one u hav F..d up. May be thats y u wanted Magande for president to come and help u out. Pliz sot out yo mess.

  11. Airlines else were have been going through a very tough time because of sky rocketing fuel prices in the last four months. The Zambian Airways was no exception. Let us be realistic!!! Its either we have a local carrier or not. Better support your local airline than otherwise.

Those talking about corruption, there is no basis. If the board appealed for relief, they did the right thing. The big boys in economics; Britain and America are right now helping their companies which are in trouble. SUPPORT ZAMBIAN COMPANIES!!
