First Lady’s mother takes threats to court

First Lady Dr Christine Kaseba

FIRST Lady Christine Kaseba’s mother, Loyce Kaseba, is seeking the help of the law after a 29-year-old man threatened to kill her using a chair.
The man, Rashid Ibrahim, a professional truck driver, appeared before resident magistrate Boniface Mwiinga and denied having threatened to injure Mrs Kaseba.

Ibrahim is charged with one count of threatening violence contrary to the Laws of Zambia.

Particulars of the offence are that on December 12, 2011 in Lusaka Ibrahim threatened to injure Mrs Kaseba by saying, “I will kill you” while armed with a chair.

And Mr Mwiinga has denied Ibrahim bail because he had given contradicting addresses and if granted bail, the accused would be difficult to trace.

“The address on the indictment is that you are from Kapiri but when taking plea you said your address is 145 in Emmasdale. So it will be difficult to tell which address is correct.

On that basis, I sustain the objection by the prosecution,” he said.

Mr Mwiinga, however, ordered that Ibrahim be taken to hospital for medical attention because even an accused has the right to access health care.

He said Ibrahim should be taken to hospital because it is unacceptable to have an accused person die in prison.

Earlier, Ibrahim applied for bail so that he can seek medical attention because he was allegedly beaten by the police officers while in custody.
But the prosecution objected to the application stating that it will be difficult to find Ibrahim because he had given two different addresses.

Meanwhile, former Minister of Mines and Minerals Development in the Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) administration, Maxwell Mwale, appeared for mention in a case, he is charged with one count of unlawful possession of property.

  1. You guys should learn from Mwanawasa for not looking after your parents. What was she doing and were was she for the young man to get a change and start threatening her. Mama Mokola died in a mini bus inferno. As first lady and President, there is nothing corrupt taking good care of your parents.

  2. Now why would Rashid Ibrahim threaten to kill here? Something is amiss here; there is surely more than meets the eye.

  3. Why did the truck driver threaten to kill her? The article is not exhaustive of the matter as this should be the “core” of the story. This sure is substandard reporting!

  4. #9, No we don’t address elderly people like that in Zambia, and shall I say most of the respectable world.

She is mama Kaseba or Mrs Kaseba.

  5. apa nomba cobra yalalwisha uku shiner kuli pongi. Rashid wanya nokunya before yo case goes to trail, yo offence will be non bailable and will take 10 years to dispose off and you will receive 25years with immediate effect. remember the cobra nolonger bite or spit. it just points

  6. This Rashid muppet should be tied on his little balls and left upside down for at least two hours. If a Zambian did that where Rashid comes from, he would face Sharia law! Send him in and let him become a wife kuli bamwine!

  7. where did this happen and what led to ibrahim threatren violence on the lady? more questions than answers. anyway we will never know what led to this cos boma ni boma.

  8. Why Christine kaseba share the same surname with her mother? Doesn’t the mother know who fathered her? or kasebas married each other? Please help

  9. #16 I think it is the “norm” to share a surname with your mother especially if she was (your mother) was using your dad’s name!! DUH!!!!!!

  10. This case is hear say holding a man with no evidence is a crime. The judge needs to release this man,Let him go.This man is entitled to justice. These judges are nothing but cadres scared to keep their jobs hence this decision

  11. Too many questions unanswered:
    1. Where did that happened?
    2. What is their relationship?
    3. Why did he threaten to kill her?

  12. #16 u dull chap dr maseba uses her maiden name her father was mr maseba so her mother shud b rightly called mrs maseba

  13. The Magistrate Mwiinga must get his legal mind examined. Is he a PF cade? It is strange that Rashid Ibrahim is being “sentenced to jail” on matters that are clearly bailable. The Police who are spear-heading the prosecution are content to prounounce that Mr. Ibrahim threatened to beat-up Ba “Madam” Loyce Kaseba – Sata’s mother-in-law – yet they do not want to tell the nation the causative factors that infuriated “the MAN” (=Ibrahim) to beat-up “the WOMAN” (=Loyce Kaseba). The nation may now just speculate that Christine Kaseba could have inherited her mother’s genes to influence Ba Sata ditch Mulenga Sata’s mother to marry the then prosperous pollitician. We are anxious to know the moral fibres of the Kaseba family.

  14. @16 the mother to the first lady is called Mrs Kaseba as she was married to the late Mr Kaseba. First Lady Kaseba uses her father’s name as she has PHd in Obs and Gyn and hence known as Ms Kaseba..Hope this answers your queries.

  15. Let the man go free!jst bcoz u are related to the first lady or president means kuti mwaipaya uwomulemona!nt fair!yes the guy is guilty bt the bible says leaders should lead by an example!ebubi bwamaka nalupiya efyo bamufumishe pamupando bcoz of the same!

  16. the kasebas had borrowed K10milion kwacha from this youngman and soon after wimnmning elections they opted not to pay as they told off rashid to go anywhere he wants
