Heritage party president has charged that the setting up of commissions of inquiry by the Patriotic Front government is a sheer waste of resources.
And Brigadier General Godfrey Miyanda has observed that the Patriotic Front seems to be lost after winning the general elections.
Gen. Miyanda says the setting up of the commissions of inquiry is not being done in the right way by the government.
He says the setting up of the commissions of inquiry should be done in an event where a national issue is complicated.
He wonders why some commissions are being set up in instances where government has records of companies being investigated.
Gen Miyanda further says that it is a waste of resources especially that money being spent on the commissions of inquiry is not budgeted for.
He says the exercise of appointing commissions of inquiry is proving costly to the country.
Gen. Miyanda adds that all the commissions that have been set up are not necessary as most investigations were going to be done in a less dramatic way.
He says there systems in government that would have been used to investigate the companies in question.
He adds that all the commissioners sitting on the commissions are biased accusing them of being sympathizers of the PF Government.
And Gen.Miyanda has charged that the PF government seems to have lost direction after winning the September elections.
Gen. Miyanda says the promised 90 days of aggressive development by the PF has not yielded any results.
He says it is a pity that the government has failed to explain to the Zambian people why they have failed to live up to the expectations of the people.
General Miyanda was speaking on Livingstone’s ZAMBEZI FM’s The JOURNALIST programme monitored by QFM radio.
QFM
Miyanda, are you afraid ?
How many kwachas did you plunder ??
Time to investigate General Miyanda.
In Ghana,President Atta Mills is fighting for political survival come Dec 7.His party, like PF,beat John Kuffour’s party on fake promises within 100 days. These included free money in their pockets(PF had more money),’drastic’ reduction of fuel prices, free education up to varsity level.Four years down the line, none of these promises have been fulfilled and everybody knows who is going to lose this year come Dec 7.PF can learn from them.
They are much cheaper than the task force on corruption and the results are delivered in a short space of time. NEXT
Gen.Miyanda is correct because its baseless to have these inquires at the time when development is needed in the country. Money waisted on such issues is supposed to be used for developmental projects e.g roads.
Ba General should be talking asbout creation of Muchinga Province and removal of Chirundu and Itezhi-Tezhi. These are real issues. It dose not mean that when you become President you have to create new provinces in your home land. Therefore appoint Minister, PS, Police Chief etc beneffiting your relatives and taking money from Zambia. And removing districts from any province. This is what treason is. If you dont know.
The ex-army general has really matured as a politician – I am waiting to see how PF will handle: a) land issue by stopping all illegal allocations and restoring all land illegally allocated to rightful owners; b) creating employment especially among the youth as the 3million umemployed Zambian youth are a sitting time-bomb; c) revive education and health country-wide; d) increase taxation not only from the copper mines but expand the tax base; and finally e) political reforms including defining and legislating funding of political parties so that no foreign money is used in political campaigns.
We don’t need COI ,we need public hearings organised by Mp s and councillors ,to find ways of partnering with the community, for delivery of services to the communities.
Ba Smallie that is the dumbest suggestion from you. Surely you don’t expect anything these characters. After all, they are responsible for the chaos we are in.
Guys can you just digest what Miyanda is saying and dispute where he has erred rather han attacking him without reason. Issue based criticism is what can bring us development. May be not wholly but he has a point
Sata revokes appointment of ACC deputy boss he appointed 24 hours earlier
February 22, 2012 | Filed under: Breaking News | Posted by: editor President Michael Sata has revoked the appointment of Alexander Museba as Deputy Director-General of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Sata has instead appointed Museba as Chairperson of the Police and Prisons Service Commission.
Museba was sworn in yesterday February 21, 2012 as Deputy Director-General of the Anti-Corruption
The General is totally right. The other thing is that we need a strong opposition in this country if our democracy is to grow.
General Moron, now he s awake looking for mistakes.Just like there are so many ways of skinning a cat, there are also so many ways of investigations, depending on the gravity and circumstances of the cases.Goverment can use existing agencies directly like police,DEC,ACC,etc, inquiries can also be carried out through truth commissions or a constituted commission of inquiry as is the case now,There is absolutely nothing wrong with anyone method over the other.Miyanda should just work hard to become president so he can use his preferred methods. The big general should stop his cry baby antics,he s used o being a ‘Johny come too late’ fellow.
Miyanda’s hot air is a shame. Commissions of inquiry are not a waste of resources !
Africa looses $150bn a year from corruption, 25% of Africa’s GDP !!!
Those corrupt guys line their pockets while many people starve, people with AIDS have no money to buy tri therapic medicine, I am talking about zambian places of death, not hospitals and in the same time corrupt Georges Red Lips can go to south african welcoming hospital
EVERY crook, EVERY looter eg Mopani copper Mine&Glencore has to be accountable and has to be hunted… It ‘s just the beginning. In the PF and Sata we trust !
Yet again the GENERAL with great words, and yet again people criticizing him without dissecting his proposed speech. I am beginning to fear PF supporters here more so than MMD’s. People like senior citizen would defend the MMD with vigor and examples to boot, even when it made no sense nor was it something lager than the vices MMD was about. President MIYANDA would have been or can be a great Zambian president only if he would select robust and intellect infused surbodinates I.E DambisaMoyo thee economist not the dancer; professor Clive Chirwa repertoire Engineer extrodinaire :) This time mr. MIYANDA stay awake and campainb my goodness lol.
Has Miyanda been oiled by plunderers to speak for them or he is venting out his frustration after failing to marshal enough support for state house?
You are right Zambia is just like a farm as long as you take the animals for grazing and gather them back then life goes. So much fooolish things going on with a lot of people supporting rubbish. I’m shocked PF have non idea what to do now that they are in power.I’m not sure if any party knows how to govern of country.shame
How much money will it cost when the commissions have completed their sittings? Not very much to affect the overall development of the country. I sympathise with the General, however, he is wrong on this one. It sounds more like sour grapes.
# 9 Miyanda is right , Â I have read those reports, someone can easily write those reports without
Even investigating,as long u know what will sound good to Sata’s ears, we are too poor for that
What we need is development ,or COI for way to develop the country,Â
The wise man has spoken. Only that Zambians are so intoxicated with sweet talkers, that tell them what they want to hear but never to be achieved.
He sounds like someone belonging to that lost tribe.kekekekeke…Fauilures!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The problem with Zambian opposition leaders is that, they complain without offering the alternative solution to the problem they are complaining about. Miyanda should say exactly how the investigations should be done to avoid commissions of inquiry and save public money. If he can’t offer any concrete solutions, he better learn to keep quiet and avoid cheap politicking. 10 years in opposition without any MP in parliament is not right for a party, this is no longer a party, it is a one man show.
All those political parties that do not have MPs should fold and call it quits. Chipimo Sr. thought his son Elias Chipimo Jr would do better. To date he has not given us an MP not even from his village. Miyanda, no MP, Nawakwi, No MP…the list goes on. These are the people who are supposed to give checks and balances. But these checks and balances cannot be done through the media. Go to parliament. What Miyanda is saying is common knowledge and we have heard it before. He is joining the band wagon of “Let’s oppose Sata”. I think most people did not expect Sata to be easy going and so they want to push him to the edge so that when he reacts they will say “see we tald you Sata is a dictator and brutal man”. So far what he has done is probe the plundered national resources.
Miyanda is right. Why form a Commission of Inquiry into issues that you have records for? Maybe we need a COI to investigate how Chipolopolo won the AFCON!Â
In a country so poor and so many patriotic youths either jobless or underpaid, we should be finding smarter ways to do things. We cannot be giving multiple jobs to retired politicians and expect things to work. If these probes do not recover anything in 5 years, somebody needs to go back into he opposition. Pasopo!
The General is right the PF government seems to have no direction. I’m worried with some cadres of this fora who keep on supporting senseless decisions by the government. Zambia does not belong to PF. Every citizen has a stake in it. Think with your brain..that is if you have one.Â
No. 1 Rosco It is a pity you dont know the general! He is one of the most honourable politicians who has served govt!
General miyanda is frastrated for being a polical failure. Initially his party received much support example is in Ndola where he even had a Councillor and MP. But he mismanaged all his affairs and now he has nothing. He has just become an arm chair critic.
PF cannot just leave all the corruption which we were seeing with our eyes go scote free. General will be the first person to criticise and say pf has failed the people. Prosecution of allerged plunderers will deter others from plundering the peo[ples resources
1.General Miyanda is a clown and failure
2.Commission of inquiry very important in order not to make bad decisions.
3.Finally,Commission of inquiry brings in fair justice.
On commissions of inquiry, I think the General is off the mark. Reports of COIs end at Cabinet for decisions to be made, while investigations by respective institutions such as DEC, ACC, Police must always end in court. So called technocrats have no capacity to carry out such investigations because the last administration abused the same people. As such, these end up as witnesses. Not even ZICTA can handle the sale of zamtel inquiry. The same cost saving cry is what has taken away the credibility of the same commissions because Ministers are appointed to sit these commissions. I would have loved to see a COI on the sale of zamtel chaired possibly by John Sangwa or the General himself. He came out strongly on Zambia Airways. Such a report could have been very instructive
alo mudala lekafye  good works pf.
Bloggers, commissions of inquiry are just a blind fold. There is nothing going on apart from changing names, amputating districts and provinces and arresting pipo. Wait and see what will happen by June, 2012 nothing really. we are in trouble and zambian are blind followers. How can we say the results are quick. What results? When thay are predetermined. Impliment the recommendations of the BA commission of inquiry.
