Patriotic Front-PF President, Michael Sata, says he has been misunderstood on his stance on Chinese investment in Zambia.
Mr. Sata says he welcomes tangible Chinese investment in the country because China is an emerging economy.
He told ZNBC news that he is only against the Chinese who want to venture into trading in shirts and mending pot-holes on roads.
Mr. Sata said such jobs should be left for Zambians.
And Mr. Sata said once in power, he will ensure that 25 percent of shares in parastatal companies are reserved for workers.
He said this will economically empower workers.
Mr. Sata said he will ensure that Zambian workers are well remunerated for them to earn a decent living.

You must understand that SATA is and has been a senior citizen of Zambia. He has contributed greately to the governance of this country, especially from 2006 as he has been the greatest voice of the opposition. I think he deserves respect in that sense.

It is important to give credit where it is due. Try to get sense of what Sata is saying and not what he might have been quoted to have said. No country can afford not to do business with China at the moment but it is the way business is conducted and how investment licences are granted to investors. Let us ask ourselves how those indians in some shops, who cannot even speak our language found themselves here. Do you really need traders and unqualified individuals to take up your jobs? I don’t have any problems with qualified and skill individuals coming to live and work in Zambia.
You cannot get a work permit to work in the UK for example if you are not qualified or do not have the listed skills (essential) required. Why is the Zambian government allowing unskilled foreign individuals to take up employment?

The current strategy by the MMD is to show a picture that RBB has more support from all the Provinces of Zambia. That is why they have forced Chiefs to support them as a way of telling all Zambian people especailly the subjects to Chiefs to follow what the chiefs are saying.
Also, the MMD know that Sata is weak than he was in 2006 and therefore want to show a picture that Sata is popular on LT. By so doing, the MMD hope that the real strong opposition candidate HH’s supporters will lose heart and thing that HH is nothing in Zambian politics.

Ask yourselves Zambians a question? Why is it that the MMD is now focussing its campaign in Northwestern, Western and Southern Provinces?
The MMD know that Nothern and Luapula Provinces together with the CB are not a problem for them. Eastern Province has been taken since it is a UNIP and FDD stronghold and RB comes from there.
Thus only minds which think above a normal average person will see what is happening right now. The gimmick is too cheat the opposition not to merge while the MMD will portray a picture that RBB has already won so that gullible people will vote RBB.

Once in a while, I dont mind going to watch a football match at the village football field. They usually are two teams competing against each other. I rarely choose to support either team.

Satas problem is that he is completely tactless, a trait necessary for a successful politician. No one can deny that there are both legitimate and illegitimate Chinese investors and that we need to be selective as well as ensure that such investment is a net benefit to Zambian citizens. I think the best way to address the bad investor issue is by talking less and using the legislature to put in place policies that make it impossible for such individuals to conduct business in Zed. You don’t have to go on record and threaten to chase them away, they will do that on their own once they see that the climate is not conducive for their crooked activities. After all they are here to make money.
