Zambia Under-20 today failed to qualify for the Rwanda 2009 Caf Africa Youth Cup after Egypt Under-20 beat them 1-0 away at Nchanga Stadium in Chingola.
Egypt qualify for the Rwanda tournament 4-3 on aggregate after drawing 3-3 in Alexandria in the 2nd round, 1st leg match played on September 28.
A late goal in the midst of muted and baffling protests of an infringement from Zambia’s suspect defenders sealed Egypt’s passage to next January’s finals in Rwanda.
Ismaili Striker Ahmed Fathi scored his second goal against Zambia in the qualifiers after finding the target in the first leg a fortnight ago when he netted his teams opener at home.
Zambia’s only bright star throughout the match was striker Fwayo Tembo of Tunisian club Etoile de Sahel.
Zambian footballs comeback kid Tembo who scored a brace against the Egyptians a fortnight ago literally carried this lethargic team on his shoulders for most of the match before his team mates slumped onto the pitch at the end of the 90 minutes to stage a poor made-for-TV show of disappointment for their lack of hunger to win.
Furthermore, Tembo’s attacking partners at Nchanga namely the Israel-bound striker Emmanuel Mayuka and Zanaco attacker Roger Kola were subdued.
Apart from yet another alarming poor performance in attack for a Zambia team at the international stage, the defence was the home sides weakest link and frighteningly porous.
Oswald Mutapa’s side was lucky to survive with just one goal against an efficient and pragmatic Egypt who hit the stride mid-way through the first half after stuttering in the opening 20 minutes of the opening half.
Meanwhile, the Zambia Under-20 sides exit continued to mark a poor year for Zambia junior teams in continental outings after the Under-17 were ejected last month by Namibia from their 2009 Algeria tournament qualifiers.
Bola pa Zed Yalipwa. This is our foundation and they stink. Reminder to all fools who advocate for a state of the art stadium. Unless national teams start producing it will be a waste of money. Let us build another cancer center on the CB.
Ba Zambia Makula!!
TOO BAD MY BOYS.WHAT DO YOU EXPECT WITH GALU AS FAZ PRESIDENT INSTEAD OF THE TESTED LUSAKA DYNAMOS CHIEF “ANIF ADAMS”.
Aya ni malilo, tilala ba Zambia Chipolopolo. Come to Brazil, to learn some skills bane.
Sorry to say but Zambian football died in Gabon!!! That was the moment when we as a country should have stopped all involvement in soccer at international level. We shuld have gone back and started reforming our youth policies … learn a lesson from Morocco. Kalu and his FAZ bunch should wake up!!! I only wish Hanif was in charge ….
TOO MUCH LADIES KULIBONESHA TAA.
because of sum mentality, people think all footballers can run tha football affairs of tha country.Racial & tribal hatred will always bring us down. Hanif would have made a gud manager
Well that’s football for you. Expect the unexpected. We need to have more international exposure for these boys not training with Nchanga Rangers. South Africa has the resources not the talent. Zambia has the talent then they have Kalu who wants all to himself.
By the way what do you expect of Galu? Mayuka’s tansfers is like Mbesuma’s first transfer from Roan to Chiefs. You will see more of such Kinds.
Remember how he Galu did it with Milanzi to Mexico. Nothing is straight fwd with Galu
HEY ON WHAT SITE CAN I SEE RB AND THE WIFE PICS
I SPOKE TO GOD LAST NIGHT HE SAID ,, SATA IS THE BEST MAN FOR THIS COUNTRY.. MAN OF ACTION NOT BULL TALK AND PROMISES..
Renard got the strategy wrong; playing Sunzu in defence, Playing three strikers hence 3 midfielders instead of 4, making 3 changes to the team that drew 3-3, depending on the weak Under-20 defence instead of the sharp strike-force, not instructing the boys how to keep possession to wind down the clock instead of hitting the ball out and Egypt regrouping all the time, technical bench sitting instead of rallying the boys, midfield couldn’t tackle etc. Better use local coaches who could have learnt something but the money stays not it goes to France and all we get is a loss. “Eyes on the Money”. Shame.
Bad luck to junior chipolopolo. Think the FAZ was supposed to involve George Lwandamina and Phiri Patrick because these two know how Egypt plays and than using coaches from France who don’t know north african football. I appeal to FAZ to include the sons of Charles Musonda in the junior teams, they are Zambians who need to enjoy the fruit of their country.
Imbushi!
its sad to read some comments being posted. i understanding its painful to see our team perform terribly as shown by the result but come on Z surely we can put up a better commentary! ever heard of constructive criticism?
# 14. Mubita Nyambe, why don’t you lead by example and give us your analysis of the game and the scenario in light of your so called “positive criticism”. We would appreciate muchaha. I know criticism to be just that, criticism, and never positive. But prove me wrong.
always bad lucky ba zambia
GK from MONZE
#9 go on state house web site you will find the little sexy girl folding her legs with a smile, she does not hide her juicy fire. You will also notice the age difference with RB the husband, looks like a pix of grandy and little daughter + grand children too.
Vote for H H and he will improve futball in Zed.The boys will be well paid and he will stop tribalism in the National team.
Too bad for Zambia. I agree with most of the sentiment expressed about great Kalu. His FAZ presidency shall be an unmitigated disaster.
Snatching defeat in the Jaws of Victory!!!! Mawe Tata abija Makani aya.
Rubbish. How can u get Renard and P.E teacher and drop Zambian coaches who can shout to the boys in the local language and the chaps follow instructions.
Beaten pa home ground, ouuch!!!
mwe bantu, this is football.its sad to see the boys lose but it happens even to the best of teams.lets move on.
It is Egypt lets just not get too emotional. They have probably the strongest home league in Africa. And Zamalek beat Real madrid in Cairo about three or so years ago. We need to wake up and let football sponsor itself, Tax payers cannot be subjected to misery on the paycheck and on some sport investment.
Am amazed at how people link ‘King Kalu’ to anything that is bad about Zambian football. FAZ is not a one show by the way. Decisions are not made by one person. VIVA Kalu!!! Am behind you. You are the best that has ever happened to Zambian football.
Awe sure, twalipwa! I threw in a towel in Zed football way back.
That U20 Frontline is the senoir nationationl team wether some of them are bench players there, is in-material. Kola, Mayuka, Sunzu etc are touch tested and to fail to score at home is beyond belief. If we managed to pump in 3 goals in Egypt, what really happened at our home ground?
This is a sad chapter, we have missed out featuring at the AFCON Under 20 until the next qualifiers start 2009/2010. kalu and people at FAZ u are too preoccupied with deals to illegaly sell young players at expense of organising how to beat Egypt.
Try mankwala ya mwai next time!
I watched the 3-3 game. We played an open game, Morgan Kaoma and Tembo terrorised the defence hence the 3 goals. For the boys to fail to score, i can only imagin the coach changed the strategy or some players who played well were missing from the line up. I think Renard is doing on-job training.
What do you expect when on Friday night/Satuday morning, the boys in the company of Kalusha and Harve were still drinking at Edinbur Hotel (sp) whilst their egyptian counterparts had long retreated for a refreshing sleep. We always pay for our lack of seriousness in terms of sports and what reall hates me is these chaps are paid by us, tax payers.
Its sad we lost especially that it was at the end of the match. But such is football. Great Teams have equally lost at their home soil. Remember how Nigeria failed to qualify to the last World Cup. Unfortnate part is that our players are not hungry for glory. It has nothing to do with Kalu or the Coaches. The best material we have fails us at crtical times. In terms of strategy its always dangerous to live on a draw or 1-0 scoreline because as it happens the opposition can score at the last minute and u will have no time to recover. Better luck next week.
Amawala Ba zambia!!!Will anything good ever come out of Zambian soccer?? Twa chula pafula!!!
rubbish as tana would put it
why are we always meeting egypt wen qualifying for the under 20 youth cup
lmwe sure everytime is yeah!! we nearly qualified if only!!!! the coaches have nothing to do with the poor player’s we have, sure all those so called proffesionals infact these guys play for the senior team but still fails to score, look at Adebayor thats what is needed for a pro, make a difference
sad we lost to Egypt but I believe our future as a football nation is bright. we have bright young talent which can compete. As for the Great Kalu, its a shame some people without football knowledge and facts would insult him like that. Football House and the game locally is changing for the better. watch that man and his team at FAZ as the Chipolopolo play 2010 qualifiers. hard luck under 20; time to focus on next championships in two years!
its true kalu was a agreat player but not administrator or manager, he is busy tryng to make a living by iligaly selling young players and his pawns like munaile. he is also involved in the unprofessional selecting of renald, im so sure he gets something from renald’s pay and the p.e teacher. renald quetioned us ati “we didnt ask him y u-20 scored 3 goals in egypt but owez ask him when his team fails to score”. nomba wat happened in chingola, ka renald? players are still being taught basics, no system, no tactcis, techanically we will never improve.
There is nothing like best losers in this tournament. That is usually our preferred qualification option.
wow, that was a bad defeat and i was there watching our team go down in the rains…..its a pity we lost..fwayo you were the man of the match…
GALU FAZ PRESIDENT. GALU OR KALU. IT IS A NO NO
GALU IS NOT A GOOD MAN. LOOK AT BA CALI HE IS BUILDING IS SON, GALU ONLY PRODUCED MAULE, THE DO NOT EVEN LOOK LIKE HIM. SHAME ON U GALU
Bonse fye mu FAZ na baiche ba under 20 players, muli ba chabe chabe.
With that result in Egypt, you were supposed to be in the driving sit of the game. Mulifipuba.
Kalu messed it up all!
