  1. Iwe ba LT you should tell your cameraman to ask for the first names of those individuals in your pictures, they are not wildlife in the Kafue National Park…how can you just say “some brothers or a woman” even the Media giants like BBC, CNN, Al-Jazeera put some names to individuals, they only withhold names of individuals in sensitive security wings; nothing wrong with the first name though.

  2. Not much more money in peoples’ pockets after more than 200 days of pf rule judging by some of the photos!

    • I am not PF but I get petrified by people who expect the government to do sh1t for them. You expected manna to fall from heaven after 200 days? Wake up Zambians. Look how well foreigners are doing in Zambia, what are they seeing that you are turning a blind eye to?

  3. Women in Zambia work too hard! and still live in poverty. especially in the rurals.

This marching in uniform colonial style celebrations should end. Labor day must be celebrated with workshops and training in respective companies sensitizing employees on their rights and improving their skills.

  4. Is that how the fly-over bridge near Kafue Road roundabout looks like now? Zambia – now I know I was right to leave! Good to see KK and the beautiful young lady – Mrs Cheswa Silwizya – looking very bright! Well done LT for the photos.

  5. Picture 13, Russian built and still deadly. Why do the police have rocket propelled grenades? I am scratching my head. Airtel Leading lady on the right now that’s a woman.

no# 17 my respect to the real labour that woman has hustle and hygiene. Her husband I hope just does not drink up the money or lazying else where.

  6. You are in diaspora or in a better paying job in Zambia with an i-phone costing £500 and your mother, sisters, nephews, uncles, brothers and aunties are living like pics 3, 4, 5 and 11, do you know how much they can do with that money?

Its time we started empowering our families. Its when we die and our coffins are delivered to our villages that people really know what kind of families we come from.

Guys, 50 euros is a lot of money, ask me. In europe, it looks nothing, in Zambia its close to K350, 000 and a family of 5 can feed for a month (2 bags of roller meal, relish, soap, etc).

    • @ # 8 St. Louis that indeed is a very astute observation. A lot of Diasporians do send money home, for Ghana it’s a tune of $ 2 billion a year ( Total Zambian over seas reserves lol ), but some family members, the men let me be honest just drink that money all, the eat Chicken and sausages without re-investing the capital. Some have actually used the Dough with great planning and apptitude those I salute.

    • Here is another one who underestimates how Zambians living abroad are contributing in Zambia….go to Western Union and find out.

    • @ jay jay I see you too like myself have sent money to help the fam and the recent boom in our economy. More power to you my friend :).

    • # 8.3 Mwanawakwitu

Its very annoying how some people assume some Zambians in diaspora don’t send money back home yet they send a third of their income to support projects in Zambia. For your information if someone has a £500 iPhone 4s or any flashy handset it doesn’t mean they purchased it with hard cash, Network providers give you this FREE provided you have a good credit score and see through the 24 contract, they will even throw in a free cheap laptop or games console as they know they will make more from your subscription.
Its high time GRZ started taking stats on how much is really comes into the country every year as the President and everyone is in the dark on this matter; I guess that they only time we will be really taken serious like our Nigerian in diaspora.

    • Jay Jay man, you have said it all for me. Despite sending US$300 a week for the last 7 years, my eldest brother got sick 3 weeks ago and I was sending US$200 same as my brother in Syracuse every 2 days for 2 consecutive weeks. My Gold Card Western Union now has points I do no even know what to do with. I know there are other Zambians who are self centered as some of my boys I brought to the USA. But by God, don’t nobody tell me we are not helping our families and friends. Right now, I have 3 young men that I whole heartedly trusted and decided partners, that owes me almost K11 million just because they felt I had dollars to spend when all I wanted was to invest. We work more than these people back home care to know and when we send money to help them, it’s bonus and drink drink.

  7. @ # 5 Nubian Princess : No# 5 Nubian Princess I agree whole heartedly with you on this one. Women in Zambia should say enough is enough but use liberation wisely, for African American females have had the feminist movement rear its ugly claws on them.

  8. @ # 8 St. Louis that indeed is a very astute observation. 9. Why don’t you address Cheswa by her husband’s name.

mounted police officer, tooo much baby powder

  10. Pic. # 1. Someone please show me the maize; all I see are weeds, or maybe I am just ‘maize blind’.

  11. # 8 St Louis,i agree with you 100% it is dis heartening to see and hear about the poverty levels in our country when we can do something to uplift the standard of living by way of some remittances, however as Mwanawakwitu has commented Zambians live for today, they do not think of the future Most people live like kings today and tomorrow as slaves instead of the opposite .The mind set of most Zambians is so bad and highly corrupt ,they even steal their own money and give you a thousand excuses why their businesses are not doing well.
I thought Chongwe with their political prostitute Masebo things have changed as promised by Ukwa the liar!My foot.Lol

    • I was beginning to agree with you until you went ballistic on Masebo and our President. You last sentence was uncalled because you erased the more objective 7 sentences on top. Grow up.

  12. Would I be wrong to advocate for one child a family for those that cannot afford not even a woman as a wife? Just asking so please answer wisely and be non confrontational.

  13. Pic 13 – that para with shades is tooo hot – I would definately have him in my bed any day !!!

    • Heat is Therapeutic silly. Africa has the besy weather deferential panet wide. Why do you think europeans wanted it? Stay where ever you are with your dreary weather and shut up.

    • Humans (especially the dark-skinned) adapt to warm climate better than the cold climate. That’s a natural fact. Unless you’re telling us that you’re cold blooded? Or an Eskimo?

  14. @ No# 18 Mushota
: Heat is Therapeutic silly. Africa has the besy weather deferential panet wide. Why do you think europeans wanted it? Stay where ever you are with your dreary weather and shut up.

  15. Poverty is written on many faces of the pictures. Selling food on the streets must be banned once and for all. These are bad habits will continue to bring diseases and dirty if we continue perpetuating such activities.

  16. Pic 4 & 5- Woman of substance. Its rainy season, but she keeps her Yard weed-free, and is swept clean. Fetched firewood and water, and preparing relish i.e. pumpkin leaves which she obviously grew. And doing many other chores with big baby on her back, including chasing her son standing against the Kitchen to catch him and force him to take a bath.

  17. These pictures as usual say one thing, the struggles and the poor living standards of the ordinary Zambian have remained the same if not worse over the decades, regrettably the hardest hit are women and children. Meanwhile all the politicians do is selfishly share the national cake among themselves and feed the suffering masses with talk, talk, talk and more talk.

  18. Fake Mushota you have just revealed yourself that you are not a Zambian with your comment i always thot there was something sinister about you !! You come on this fora as a Zambian woman when you aint we chipuba we!!

  19. #1, THAT MAKES THE TWO OF US. I LIKE THE MOUNTED POLICE OFFICER- SHE LOOKS COOL. BESIDES, I LOVE HORSES. I ALSO LIKED AIRTEL MARCH-PASTERS.

  20. These pictures are mi-selected. Its either mocking the poor or making fun of them, then mixed with selected sexy-women middle class.

  21. #4 and 5, the woman is wearing a nice mmd election campain chitenge but the house awe katwishi mwandini – hope pf will do it differently – Chongwe mp should do something for that woman’s house

  22. Pic # 10 and 11 – poverty being exemplified…so sad. People in Zambia will march for anything…I wish they’d march for their rights to have a decent living for every Zambian citizen. Pic # 14-The “mounted Police” woman….hmmm, okeeeey! Pic
    # 16. Airtel women looking good too.
Good to see a variety of pictures LT and not politicians. Nice one.

  23. # 10 St. Louis

  24. Cry my beloved country!!! I mourn for Zambia:((:((:((:((:((:((:((:((:((:((:((:((:((:((:((:((:((:((

  25. These pictures run the whole spectrum from the desperately poor to the well to do and ,from the emaciated to the well fed, from the darker skinned to Barbie imitators, from the average dressers to the fashion concious, from the extremely young to elder statesmen, from the frail to the young blooming things…..and everything in between.

  26. Iliko bad pa ZED no wonder me iam not going back to the ka impoversied country , i will continue watching from the terraces. OMG ..is this what you call life? shame

  27. Cheswa, my Head Girl at Fatima. Good to see you! Gone are the days when a commoner went to school with the Republican President’s children

  28. Pic #16 Chi Airtel girl hmmmm thats a chi woman there..Ni sweet yeka yeka palya mdala.

Manje pa Pa Zed yaba ngabalesala ichalo Zed yena nga twachesha ukwisala elo ukwisaisula
nga yapickinnga oko. Pantu awe tewikalo ubu iyo.

  29. Why are you all just talking about the airtel girl? Don’t tell me you haven’t seen my drawn-on eyebrows….giddy up!

  30. Sad reality of the women vendors. But Super Ken and Cheswa looked pretty good. This Old man is simply amazing. May God continue to take care of our founding father, Mankangala Chitwe Mambo imfumu ya bene Dr KENNETH DAVID KAUNDA. You are always in my prayers.

  31. Shani bane

Pic #1 That maize field looks like a hurricane just passed through!

Pic #14 Female cop, a little bit of lipstick is OK but too much eye shadow, mascara, powder & co. are kind of gruesome. And I begin to suspect that a woman is trying to hide her true qualities inside by overrating her appearance… The airtel lady is more appealing to me when it comes to physical attraction.

Otherwise, the pics show me the Zambia I know and love since I was a little boy. The peasant farmer, the charcoal traders, sugar cane or banana sellers and street vendors will always do what they have to do to survive. And there’s nothing wrong with that. It’s just the way we get by…

  33. “Lord! when did we see you hungry and gave you to eat?Thirsty, and gave you to drink? In prison or sick, and came to visit you?” Fellow Zambians, Home and abroad, look carefully at some of those pictures and think about it.Many of those Mothers and innocent children are crying silently for help..

  34. These Zambian mounted police of ours, look at her there, how do you wear such heavy make-up like you are going on date with your sugar-daddy when ridding are a horse, i bet you she is wearing heavy cheap overpowering perfume. Those animals are sensitive to odour especially horses and dogs.
What do these chaps learn at Lilayi; how to properly apply foundation?

  35. Picture #1 – The field is full of weeds – ulesi. What is the productivity of Chongwe district when you remove ba Zezulu???

  36. Airtel lady nice typical african body especially the legs, abasungu bamo ati iyo amolu yakulisha..its really sad to see the woman preparing the meal from the fire with the baby on her back,i wish i can do something to my country..tears

  37. Why do the Para Police brandishing, rather wielding Rocket-Propelled Grenades (RPGs) in public? Those weapons are reserved for armies fighting foreign enemies and not your own people. Its obvious Zambia has never been to war and thus the security; especially the Police don’t even know what types of weapons are used for what.

I kinda agree with someone above (@ Nubian Princess), suggesting Labour Day celebrations must be spent doing something meaningful like workshops, training and improving skills (even volunteering). This marching thing is archaic.

By the way does LT ask for permissions to publish these people’s pictures on the internet or even give them money (remember they increase traffic, which I believe may help pay you)?

  38. Speaking of beauty – that Airtel leading lady is the definition of African beauty: beautiful dark skin, beautiful eyes; beautiful posture; beautiful smile; beautiful neck; proud; happy; everything – man they don’t make them like these days.
That was the definition of a beautiful woman when I was reading novels at young age.
The ‘wannabe’ on the horse doesn’t come close, although by today’s standards she ain’t that bad – she looks cool :)

  39. PIX #3. ZAMBIA HAS ABUNDANT COAL- WHY SHOULD TREES BE CUT DOWN FOR CHARCOAL WHICH DEFORESTS THE COUNTRY. WHEREEVER, ZAMBIA EXPORTS COAL IT IS USED IN DOMESTIC HOMES FOR COOKING AND HEATING. MOREOVER, COAL HAS MANY ADVANTAGES OVER CHARCOAL. COAL CAN BE RE-LIT AS LONG AS IT HASN’T FINISHED. YOU CAN’T DO THE SAME TO CHARCOAL. ZAMBIA’S COUNTRY SIDE IS QUICKLY LOOKING LIKE A DESERT. CAN’T THE LAW BE ENACTED TO STOP THIS WASTE AND URGE RETAIL OUTLETS TO START SELLING PRE-PACKED COAL?

  40. #48 – Coal is the dirtiest form of fuel environmentally. So it is not a good alternative either. There are new innovations called woodless stoves that are helping rural people in other parts of the world. Hopefully, this innovation reaches Zambia soon.

  41. Nice pcs…..poverty will never end evenif we empower our familes. Empowering them is okey but they also need to be taught not to have children whom they are unable to take care of. Mostly the poor are the ones with 6 to 9 children seriously!!!! 20 years ago it was okey but now things have changed, its hard to find casual jobs. Its better to have no children at all instead of making them have a very difficulty life/

  42. Ba LT, pic #1 is not a field of a peasant farmer but a small scale farmer</b) or subsistence. Comprende?
