Senior government officials urged to prioritise unity, development

Acting Secretary to the Cabinet, Siazongo Siakalenge, has urged the 7th Senior Public Service Management meeting to prioritise unity and development in the country.

Speaking when he officially opened the 7th Senior Public Service Management meeting, whose theme was ‘unity and development’, Mr Siakalenge noted that the concept of unity and development is important in achieving national progress.

He highlighted the significance of unity in consolidating the benefits of independence, which Zambia recently commemorated on its 61st anniversary.

He further quoted President Hakainde Hichilema, on reaffirming the national motto of “One Zambia, One Nation,” and adding “One People”, to emphasize the need for oneness among citizens.

“It is in the context of the theme of this meeting, that as we discuss our agenda items, we align our thoughts and processes to the attainment of national unity and development, with a view to maximising the benefits of peace, progress and opportunities,” he explained.

Mr Siakalenge also emphasised the importance of digitalisation in achieving efficient and effective delivery of services to the people.

He further noted that digitalisation dissolves geographical barriers and promotes unity by ensuring everyone is served by the same efficient, transparent, and standardised digital systems.

He also informed the meeting of the need to leverage the country’s natural endowments, particularly in the mining sector, to benefit the people.

The Acting Secretary to the Cabinet added that President Hichilema has issued directives aimed at enhancing local content and participation in the sector, urging the meeting to generate concrete and actionable solutions to unlock the sector’s potential.

Mr Siakalenge further emphasised the need for leadership in implementing government policies and programmes, and urged participants to provide leadership to those they supervise.

He indicated that the meeting is expected to deliberate on key issues affecting the public service and come up with solutions to drive national development.

This is according to a statement issued by the media in Lusaka today.

  1. Let he tell that to the president who has divided and installed a certain group of people from his area first. Kambwili talubile lintu betile ati Bantustan. Even the government today is the best example to prove Kambwili was right. Look at every segment of the economically influential position. It is all Bantustan.
