Barotse Freedom Movement Secretary General Chazele Mulasikwanda who was apprehended by police yesterday as he tried to flee the country has been charged with malicious damage to property and conduct likely to cause the breach of peace.
Western Province Police Commissioner Sanwell Siandenge told ZANIS in a telephone interview that Mr. Mulasikwanda has since been taken to Kaoma Remand Prison where he will join other people that were arrested in connection with the tearing of copies of the draft constitution.
Mr. Siandenge said the suspects will appear in court soon.
He said that at the time of his arrest in Mwandi area in Kalabo district, the suspect was trying to flee the country into neighbouring Angola.
Mr. Siandenge also disclosed that police have also launched a manhunt for other leaders of the Barotse Freedom Movement who participated in the tearing of copies of the draft constitution.
He said the suspects were still within the province and assured Government that they would soon be apprehended.
Mr. Siandenge, however, declined to give further details saying doing so could jeopardise investigations.
ZANIS
arrest the fools
trying to flee the country when he was addresing a meeting at the time of his arrest.police …..realy jokers
lock them up we dont need any more confusionÂ
I thought he would want to flee to Lesotho, from where they claim to have origins, rather than to Angola?
Where is HH or MIlupi to Comment?
Zambia Police as usual are just conducting a political charade! The Police must know that the Barotse issue is a political issue whose remedy is political not a spurious prosecution.
Cage the co ck raches
And you’re a stinking monkey!
Bring back retention and recruitment allowance on our payslips otherwise u will never have a vote from all graduates civil servants in 2016. Take this warning very seriously bwana PF Government!
The watchdog said the Litunga will call for war drums, why can’t he do it now. The Ngonis and Bembas faught wars. The Lozi people never faught any war. Now  man will be caged in horrible Zambia cells. The Lozis should stop dreaming and participate in reforming Zambia which far from a good countrty
They fought with the Ndebele. They defeated the makololo. Get your facts right!

Wrong and short lived courage. Your days are numbered. You enjoying freedom but due to poor reasoning you end up in ceils. You now cannot much just at the messy of authorities. Too bad for you, tough luck or lack of it. Don’t try running 100m speed when yours is a marathon run. You faint. Now even bloggers who were encouraging you with insults in all they wrote cant help you, they are in comfort whilst you languish in cells. Its Zambia formed 49 years ago. Don’ take us to dark years of chachacha. We are a free people wanting development. Enjoy your stint in jail.
You must be the only one enjoying this freedom. And you’re Bemba!
Tearing draft constitution papers and you think the Govt can let you scott free. Mulasikwanda you are joking. Dont be cheated by people like Clement Sinyinda who have lived there lifestyles and now they enjoying their retirement benefits. Wish you tough time mwa tolongo – jail so that you become a living example and lesson to the other people. Enjoy your stay in Kaoma jail. Luitumezi shaa!
Sata and his minions also mutilated the MMD draft constitution during their PF rallies. Only a Muppet will selectively forget this. The problem with you P F Bemba tribalists is that your small egos are easily hurt. You are fools who are going to set the country on fire because of your childish and tribal actions and reactions!
@ fuseke… dont be emotional by bro… am bemba but never enjoyed from any of these presendents directly. they are all the same. just work hard (continue working hard)
No freedom has ever been given without sacrifice No politician has never tested jail then he o she is a puppet we know you are many and physical confrontation will not work court is the only solution and kaunda will only die after testifying.
Zambia was formed 49 years ago, an amalgamation of Northern Rhodesia and Barotseland, this is a fact and will never be forgotten. Unfortunately history cannot be changed, it doesn’t mean because white and black people cohabit, slave trade never existed. To this day we have celbrtions the world over marking the end of slave trade. These people were given certain human rights in that agreement, keep arresting them but just remember that this will not resolve the matter. Learn to sit down and find a way forward, this will cause unnecessary harm to the whole of Zambia. Invested will be wary of all this hence will keep away should it escalate any further. Our constitution should therefore read on the lines of: Zambia (An amalgamation of Northern Rhodesia and Barotseland)Â
I have always felt there are two Zambias. Zambia, the amalgamation of territories in 1964 and the second ‘Zambia’ formed a few years later which is the one in the slogan One ‘Zambia’ One Nation. We are all Zambians but not all ‘Zambians’. As a Zambian I see ‘Zambians’ in self denial, trying to wish away the original because it is not convenient to how they would prefer the history to be told. Now there is a third ‘Zambia Online Tribal’ which is even more self hating of its origins. Denial with venom will not alter the truth about Zambia. Well said.
No 9 a P Jere wenye wanu. If the Lozis’ never fought wars how were the Makololos’ defeated and eradicted from Barotse?
These brave cowards who are thinking backwards cage them.Zambia has one constitution for all citizens not malabishi yabalozi land.We also have tong land, umozi ku maba, luapula ntondo and we are proud people.
Tearing a draft constitution is not a crime otherwise your tribal leader in State House today wouldn’t have been President but a Prisoner on the same charge he’s conconting against none violent campaigners. You can jail them now but don’t forget that always in these sort of things the next thing will be violence. It is Stu.pid to jail people simply because you disagree with their cause. The Scottish are calling for independence from the UK and no one is demonizing or throwing them into jail. Instead the govt is countering them with reasoned arguments as why it is advantageous to remain as one country.
what a waste of govt resources? could have bought medicines in hospitals than be concerned with torn papers which have no legal backing.
Has the Barotse Agreement been restored yet?
Just jail all those who think they are more human than others. They were daring government for so long but now they are caught in a snare which will never leave them alone. They will test the jail so that they learn a very good lesson that messing up with government does not pay. The stupi.didty that these guys have shown is too grave to just ignore. If these guys are left loose they can become more stupi.dy such that no one would respect the law of Zambia. Please jail them period. And he wanted to free. why?? He was so courageous when tearing the 500 copies of the constitution but now he is scared? What a coward !!!!
Please ma lozi bana bahesu dont play mancho when u know that u’ve a family 2 look after. Many pipo that go 2 zambian jails come out as carbagges.why risk jail?why do u’ve 2 take a confratational stance? why not engage the powers that b in a dialogue?
Dialogue will not work my brother bemba knew for long time that the barotse agreement is very much alive sata promised and now he is arresting the people he gave him power. If you are a real lozi you must know by now that a tonga or lozi will never rule this country they will remain subordinates for ever that is why we are fighting.Believe me one day we will be free all these are sacrificial adenoids.
To start with whose going to benefit from this draft constitution, the politicians especially (PF) since there in POWER or the majority power Zambian. As far as i am concerned this draft constitution is a pure waste of time and resources, its just another avenue to steal and enrich friends and relatives. Whats New in this draft Nothing.. no wonder even Sata himself expelled those MP’s who participated in the same so what has changed now for HIM sata to continue the same process he was against. the paper was is and will be useless no wonder it was torn, POLICE should instead arrest the FOOLS stealing money in the name of DRAFT CONSTITUTION making something that will never even see the light of day.
we still want to tear some, stupid ideot zambians.we are mobilising strongly.pamnyo panu all of you.
Mulasikwanda Chazele is example to us lozis that there are limits. Clement Sinyinda who incited him is laughing at him and will never utter a word about it, or visit him or be present during trial and more so to hire a lawyer for him. Breach of Peace is a reduced criminal offence to treason. When the Judge gives him five years which is going to happen because the Prosecution will prove their case beyond any reasonable doubt, his wife will be married to a neighbour supplier .He wanted Sinyinda to praise him. As he languishes in Jail, others should learn from what action those who incited him will take to protect him.
Maimbolwa malete hao aiba umubemba utame malete kufita kuyambutuka.
What is wrong with tearing draft constitution papers? Does it mean that if I print a copy of the constitution and then tear it I have committed a crime?
Tearing of the draft constitution would not have concerned the PF had it been torn in the spirit of unity and ONE Zambia ONE Nation…! The Barotse secessionists tore the constitution as a way of proclaiming that they are no longer Zambians. It is the spirit behind the act that is worrying. We need our Zambia. I however agree that the solution to this problem lies in DIALOGUE. The president should invite Chiefs from Western Province including the Litunga to a dialogue table. A national conference of history to be held and amicable solution to be found. The Euro-bond and the new loyalty mining tax should help to develop the Western province too. Remember the POOREST PROVINCE IN ZAMBIA is NORTHERN PROVINCE and NOT WESTERN PROVINCE. So we need countrywide development by govt.
#24, that is the kind of reasoning we would like to hear from people who have sat behind a desk. I wish every one would think that way.Â
There is nothing to dialogu about here, the BLA was outlawed by KK in 1967-68.Western province is so underdeveloped because of the rigidity of Lozi’s.The majority of the land is under Litunga.Which sane investor would put his money where there is security i.e.title? Cage the bastards!!!
Meant where there is NO security. They keep saying ki muubu waluna( it’s our land),they do not want people from other provinces to settle and develop the area….selfish bustards, glad I am no lm longer there and will not go back, shaaa!!!
the issue is that the draft constitution was torn, and nothing more.they damaged public property and so let the law visit them.i don`t see anything political in arresting law breakers.
The issue of Barotseland can amicably be solved at this stage. We have missed our chance already to provide our people with accurate history of our land, so we are likely to see a lot of misunderstanding on this matter and many others. What we need now, is to write down our history correctly, and guide our young ones before they too, get more confused in future and begin to tear Zambia in pieces. We still have this chance.
@Monk Dee, you’re just a fool. Stop spreading Stu.pid tired theories borne out of your fcking bigotry and tribalism. No one has been stopped from investing in Western Province. It is your Stu.pid government that has not been building roads in the province. How many times has the govt announced that they going for example to build the Mongu Kalabo road and only to cancel it again? And do you think any investor can put money in an area where there is no infrastructure like roads? Stop blaming the victims of govt neglect you stinking maggot!
@Mubukwanu Maimbolwa ,show us where the copies are,we want to tear them.why are you hiding them.put them in public,we will tear them while the police watch.
Father bWALYA WAS NOT ARRESTED WHEN HE BURNT THE CONSTITUTION
@31. Joseph Daka, people like father Bwalya, Mpundu and even Sata himself tore the NCC draft constitution and the reason they were not arrested is that the MMD had educated and decent leaders who didn’t want to curtail peoples’ freedom of protest. Now you have a cabal of nepotists and tribalists who are so illiterate and clueless that they see enemies everywhere. These buffoons don’t know that there legitimacy is been eroded daily by their foolish and high handedness. They are a one term gov’t. Already reports are circulating that Christine Kaseba has joined the ranks that are fighting to succeed her senile and sick husband.
When is the litunga going to sound the war drums, we are eargerly waiting for this battle. we need men not Boys.
Lol! If you listen very carefully; there’s a sound coming out of the valley of your mom’s rear double moons. Those I think are the mythical war drums!
Real Zambian wait let me hope by then aids would have not torn you slim. Kaunda has not yet spoken so as the litunga so you can not demand for the drums of war when the issue is still at ward level. The time will tell.
Dont be cheated my brothers and sisters. Do Lozi`s have even the so called War drums now. I think they are just on paper – period. Otherwise these drums could have been drummed a long time ago – I have lived in Mongu and Limulunga in particular and wonder if all these drums are present to day and in good and perfect shape. Luitumezi shaa!
It is unfortunate the people behind these chaps are still in their houses enjoying dstv and their families. if the people behind these youths have a spine to syand with, let them come out and put the story straight.Â
“Its not by mighty nor power … saith the Lord” Isaiah. Mwautwa balongo bami, am a Kaonde/ Bemba married to a Lozi/Lunda woman. So all this tribal talk really confuses me. To me all tribes are the same, in all tribes there are thieves, crooks, pastors, engeneers, doctors etc. Maybe I see it this way because of my mixed blood and marriage. What do you think? GOD BLOESS ZAMBIA.
