First Republican President Dr Kenneth Kaunda has improved. University Teaching Hospital Managing Director, Lackson Kasonka has told ZNBC News in Lusaka. Dr Kasonka said that a combined team of doctors is attending to Dr Kaunda to ensure he gets the necessary attention.
Dr Kaunda was on Saturday admitted to University Teaching Hospital when he became unwell. Dr Kaunda had a busy week in South Africa where he had been, before flying to Zimbabwe where his wife Betty died Wednesday morning in Harare.
And President Michael Sata has extended the national mourning, which was declared in honour of Mama Betty Kaunda for another five days ending on Friday, 28 September 2012 when the burial will now take place.
In a statement made available to ZANIS today, by Acting Secretary to the Cabinet Roland Msiska said the period of mourning will continue but the time will be restricted to run from 06:00 hours to 18:00 hours only on each day of the national mourning.
Dr Msiska explained that during this period, all flags will continue to fly at half-mast and activities of entrainment nature should be postponed or cancelled.
He however, said international sports events will be held as scheduled and will follow international standard practice of observing a minute of silence and sports men and women wearing black bands.
Dr Msiska said the burial of Mama Betty Kaunda, who passed away on Wednesday, 19th September, 2012 is scheduled to now take place on Friday 28th September, 2012.
He said President Sata has accorded Mama Betty Kaunda a state funeral and further details will be announced during the course of the week.
The great bag of maize just had to pose with super ken…
Sorry I dont know these guys by face, is KK the ill looking guy on the right side?
Why is the acting president in the wheel chair?
Beleg, don’t be silly and for God’s sake have some respect!!!!!!
I have just read the caption below, now i get them right, sorry
Good to hear that.
#2 Beleg – You are such an embarrasment to the world. Are you illiterate or just a Zambian *****t living in UK? Even if you have not been to Zed to know how KK looks like, who around the world cant recognise his face. KK is an internationa icon and its only people on benefits like you who cant recognise him. You are such a shame. Anyway praise God that super Ken is geeting better, its not easy losing a wife at that age. May God keep you healthy and strong.
infact,these *****ts suck my ass…
i think your ars is more of an icon than what you are talking about
Why not just extend it by one day I.e day of burial? The whole week? Cummon guys. He leaves national mourning here him he goes to enjoy in New York. If Bettys funeral was so important to the nation, why didn’t he cancel his trip and not get half the cabinet with him?
I didn’t know there were plasma screens TVs in UTH!
Uncle Junior, there are there in fee paying wards. high cost to be specific.
WITH DUE RESPECT TO KK AND HIS FAMILY, MAY OUR MOTHER’S SOUL RIEP.
ZAMBIANS, THIS WHOLE THING ABOUT FUNERALS NEEDS REVISITING, EVEN IF IT MEANS CHANGING OUR VALUES.
LETS TAKE A LEAF FROM LATE DAVID PHIRI (MHSRIEP).
IT WAS SIMPLE. CREMATION. WITH A MEMORIAL SERVICE.
THE BIBLE SAYS LET THE DEAD BURY THEMSELVES. IN ZAMBIA FUNERALS HAVE BECOME A PRIORITY! INSTEAD OF FEEDING MANY WHO ARE HUNGRY, WE PAY SO MUCH ATTENTION AND MONEY TO THE DEAD. I CAN ASSURE YOU, ZAMBIA IS NOT A CHRISTIAN NATION, REMOVE THAT THING FROM THE CONSTITUTION!
Beleg there’s no body on the right looking ill.Even KK doesn’t look ill in this picture.
Beleg is the one who is ill.
Good report. Thank God the old man is getting better.
KK, KK..You will come out of this one too.
Beleg @ #2, of course you woildn’t know any opf them bvy face because you an A-s-s.hole. Your father wasted his sperm to produce you.
Beleg @ #2, of course you woiudn’t know any of them by face because you are an A-s-s.hole. Your father wasted his sperm to produce you.
Beleg @ #2, of course you wouldn’t know any of them by face because you are an A-s-s.hole. Your father wasted his sperm to produce you.
I sympathize with the Kaunda family. MHRIP. I too feel this “period of national” issue needs to be revisited. Why not just have flags fly at half-mast and re-schedule state functions? That would be respect in itself. The notion of the whole country coming to a standstill has consequences on the average person. Imagine a couple that is preparing for a wedding? They have spent money on preparations, being given leave by employers under difficult conditions, booked hotels, … Becomes even more taxing if either of them has flown in from say England, South Africa, Canada and had planned for this leave way back. Will your employer give you more leave days? No way! What about the productivity in the entertainment/hospitality industry? It means artists for that period cannot earn anything!
Agreed with you, maybe lobbying MP’s to look at this.
They can still get married quietly and have
a function later.
Its really too much and these old pipo are now dying nearly every month. It would’t hurt to have national mourning on the day of burial only and it should’t be accorded to just anybody.
State funerals can be there but don’t force everybody to mourn
Sata is overdoing this national mourning thing. it will soon lose meaning. We have had one too many already…
Baba wa taifa KK tunaomba mungu akulinde uwe mzima tena.Chunga hao fisi wa PF sio watu wazuri.Looking good super Ken.
The acting President on the right side look Sickly. KK get better quickly!!!
PF cadres, i was only asking a question. You did not answer it but went on to insult, what a bunch of cretins! do you even use your brains to think?
Get well KK. God bless.
Chibwe, Lizwi,.. I agree with you 150%! The future of Zambia is in our hands. Let’s keep things that have worked for us but discard those that are clearly not moving with the “now” reality. I sometimes think the Zambian populace is moving quickly but its leadership is still in the One-Party state mentality. And so stifling innovation because much of everyday Zambian life unfortunately is currently defined by its politics.. and politicians! It really is suffocating! Bwafya!
@ 6 , you are a typical hh puppy, using your buttocks for thinking all the time. Why not shut your filth brain if ve nothing to say.[-(
Acting President Alexander Chikwanda is the one who looks very sick in that picture – “Doc, please take at look at that one”
#24, you have keen eyes to note who looks sick or not? we are all ailing inside and some people who look extremely fit outwardly may not be so inward. Lets just respect one another and know that sickness affects all who are called living beings.
mind you, it could be your father or indeed you next time. How will you feel when you read such comments?
#5, #2 beleg IS BOTH OF WHAT YOU HAVE MENTIONED “…illiterate or just a Zambian *****t living in UK” EVEN IF #2 WERE TO BE SENT TO SCHOOL HE WOULD BE THE DULLEST STUDENT OF ALL. SO IT ISN’T EVEN WORTH SENDING HIM TO SCHOOL. IN FACT HE EVEN CONVINCED HIMSELF AGAINST GOING TO SCHOOL BY NOT EDUCATING HIMSELF IN THE UK.
COMING BACK TO THE MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE: I WISH OUR FORMER PRESIDENT A COMPLETE QUICK RECOVERY, AND MAY JEHOVAH GIVE YOU MORE STRENGTH.
We sympathise with the Kaunda Family as we await to lay the Mother of the Nation to her final resting place. But we are mindful of those that shed crocodile tears. The photo merely reveals that GBM has embedded himself as a strategy to obliterate other PF heavy weights vying to take over the Presidency from Sata. This non-political noxious species invested his money in the PF game to amass his wealth from the neo-industry termed POLITICS.
The list of business propriators include: Fred Mmembe, Mutembo Nchito, Musa Mwenye, Mumba Malila – who joined the PF to make money and NOT serve the people of Zambia. We are watching and praying to GOd to restore normality to Mother Zambia.
# 2 Ati Beleg……I have been to England a Million times.. Stop pretending like you are
somewhere special.. We know what goes on there… You are not even counted as part of the system there. SO PLEASE BA BELEG TWAPAPATA KAPIPENIFYE UTUKOTE
Elo mwiseko ne lyashi limbi PLEASE!!!
But Panji looks older than KK?
Sorry mistaken identity ist Mr Chikwanda
Ba KK nabo, namu UTH with a ka white handkerchief.whats with this ka hanky kanshi.Te buloshi fye?
ngati mulibe vo kamba, mu zi chita chabe shut ma *****s imwe.
Saw KK lying in his bed on ZNBC TV the other day … couldn’t help but feel sorry for the old man. Life’s been a rollercoaster for him. Thrust into presidency at such a young age, having to deal with one FTJ Chiluba’s antics, losing his son Wezi in such manner and then this – losing his wife of 66 years. God strengthen Super Ken!!!!!!!!!!
#29, I have not been to UK but I have been too good and maybe better places. The Asian countries(e.g Singapore), Australia, USA and even SA are wonderful places. There is a common reference of ukupipa utukote and ubuhule for African migrants in Europe and UK in particular. Is it a correct and true reflection of what type of work most people end up doing there despite their pride?
People let us NOT insult No. 2 beleng. he was actually spicing up the occasion. KK looks fit than the people that are NOT sick who went to VISIT him. That is all. It was a sense of humour in my view and he clarified it in his NEXT posting.
Let us sometimes read betwen the lines and separate humour from serious business.
Wow! Is KK still latching on to his white handkerchief (in the picture) even in hospital?Â
atleast he’s spending the taxi payers’ money within Zambia unlike other grain bags of maize..!
Peter and Ni Zee, would you embassy jobs be at risk if you didnt boot lick?
The acting president is Guy scot not chikwanda, KK looks young he should just marry VERA or Maureen Mwanawasa.
Iwe Ka # 29 ka Beleg.. Are u just naturally an irritating guy or are u just a mother f#@king A$S H*LE???? All I ca say is check with your Mama first before u talk to me. You cud be my SON..
