EU remains Zambia’s strategic partner – Haimbe

Government says the European Union (EU) remains a strategic partner for Zambia.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mulambo Haimbe, says continued engagement, mutual cooperation, accountability, transparency and political will are essential if this partnership is to be responsive and impactful.

Mr Haimbe said this when he closed the Zambia-EU partnership one- day dialogue meeting this evening, held at Mulungushi International Conference Centre.

He expressed gratitude that the quality of engagement in the dialogue reflects strengths and maturity grounded in shared values of democracy, good governance, rule of law and respect for human rights.

The Minister is hopeful that going forward, translating the outcomes of the dialogue into concrete actions and measurable results will be a collective responsibility.

“The EU remains a strategic partner for Zambia. Going forward, it’s our responsibility to translate the outcomes of the dialogue into concrete actions and measurable results,” he said.

Mr Haimbe further reaffirmed Zambia’s commitment to strengthening her partnership with the EU, adding that the outcomes of the meeting would consolidate relations and contribute meaningfully to peace, prosperity and sustainable development.

  1. Partner? Stop fooling yourselves. You Partner with an equal. For example: Britain and Northern Rhodesia couldn’t have been partners. That was a master-slave relationship
