Patriotic Front (PF) leader Michael Sata has taken an expected early lead in yesterday’s presidential race, with ballots from 13 percent of the nation’s constituencies counted, the Electoral Commission of Zambian (ECZ) announced this morning.
The ECZ said Mr Sata of the PF has about 60 percent of the votes counted so far, with 19 of Zambia’s 150 constituencies reporting.
Acting President Rupiah Banda of the ruling Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) has nearly 31 percent of the vote, with Hakainde Hichilema from UPND and Godfrey Miyanda from HP dividing the rest.
Only constituencies from four provinces have reported results to the ECZ so far, with most of them coming from the Copperbelt and Lusaka region which are PF’s strongholds.
Zambians voted Thursday to choose a successor to president Levy Mwanawasa, who died in August following a stroke.
Mood amaong PF cadres is still muted as this is familiar territory for them. The dreaded MMD rural vote is yet to be reported and everyone’s attention is focused on that.
Most local radio stations have reported unofficial results obtained polling stations. According to these results, Mr Sata has won 57 percent of the ballots cast in 39 out of 150 constituencies, acting president and ruling party candidate Rupiah Banda is trailing with 30 percent.
Wow, that was quick!
Wel done my Boy
looking at the 2006 results, Sata looks set to win. people how does sothern province and western province results look like.

I hope Mr Sata will behave himself when he gets into office.
I hope for PF, its not a replica for 2006, because its what happened. MS should hold on but knowing him he has already sent invitations to attend the swearing in like last time, only to be bluffed and the boat sunk.
lets wait and see coz these results might change more especially in rural areas.
THIS TIME ITS 4 REAL, NO RIGGING. U HEARD THAT PF CADRES IN NDOLA INTERCEPTED A RIGGING PLOY BY MMD, BALLOT BOXES WITH NO SEALS FROM CHIBOLELE IN NDOLA CENTRAL?
KUYA BEBELE, VIVA MAN OF ACTION, MICHEAL CHILUFYA SATA!

Too early to know the victorious winner. We need to wait patiently and see who takes it!
Wee need results from Western and North Westetern. Then Luapula and Northern

Hahaha Tekanyeni PF guys. This is a marathon. The DREADED rural vote will start rolling in come afternoon. And that gas will start building up in your stomachs you PF cadres. Just make sure you are near a loo. Also get your composers for the new version of the rigging sons. Add more verses this time. And the world media will be on hand to shoot that musical video that will be posted on all international news networks with the police and your cadres staring. VIVA RB. BOMA NI BOMA.
we need change and that change must come.pf we are behind you
Remember mazoka 2002 and sata himself 2006? Lets hope whoever wins will be the genuine winner
Wait until the 150th constituency election result is announced and then you can say u are there otherwise this pretty looks like the 2006 scenario. But why shud zedians be cheated again and again? Cud it be that there is too much docility? Wake up zedians and learn to soldier on. Politics shud just be banned for 5 years. all political parties must be dissolved.
I will have absolutely no sympathy for any of you cadres if Lord Sata wins this election. You would have pabwatoed yourself into a ditch. Im usually quite cynical, but I just dont understand how some people reason. You PFers shouldn’t change your stances when it hits the fan..
Just wait and see all you PF cadres!
Hi Guys any ideas about the results from Western and north western
As is the case in every election, and then over the weekend, the MMD will start inflating figures. It’s bullsh!t rotten politics.
Its true the boat is sailing this time.
No way mubepelefye LT is being slow in reporting things are changing it looks like a repeat of the 2006 electoral pattern. mwamona guys ati pabwato nalemweba most of u chanting ati “pabwato pabwato” on LT are in foreign countries myself included we dont know whats happening on the ground in zambia mmd the people’s party zambians are like jews they will show u support just to hype u up and then stab u when u are really counting on them……..pankoloko chwe chwe chwe chwe………nshalale, nshalale ba mayo ichalo chilelila rupiah so teke……..icho, icho, icho.
People, lets wait till the fat lady sings
Fanny Hangunyu one of zambia’s strikers in the 80’s once thought he had scored only for a defender to spring from nowhere and clear the ball off the line, this election with 2/3 constituencies to count is too early to call, PF supporters remember 2006 and do not raise your hands yet. About reference to HH, all I can say is he will keep trying, Abdoulie Wade, Abraham Lincoln kept on trying until they got there and they have proved to be among the best Presidents this world will ever know.
This time its a speed boat,Twaya Mwashala.Pabwaaaaato
Only one candidate is suitable for plot one, Ba zambia brace yourselves for M.C. Sata, Pabwaaaaaatttttoooooo!!!!!
Lets hope we won’t sink like the titanic this time, pantu mmd yachilamo..
No 3, check o results from ZNBC TV online, Sata has lost in those areas, ie Southern Western and North Western. With Copperbelt and Lusaka results already out, with not so much a big margin, Sata is poised to lose in the remaining rural areas, AGAIN.
And who said HH was a big name in zambian politics????
He is just a vote splitter, grow up boy, swallow your pride and work with some elders.
SO FAR SO GOOD BUT IAM POSITIVE MMD HAS THE CAPACITY TO BOUNCE BACK AND CAUSE THE UNTHINKABLE.JUST IMAGINE SOLWEZI AND LIVINGSTONE VOTED FOR RB,WHAT ABOUT THE PIPO IN KAPUTA,KAWAMBWA?WHATCH OUT, ITS TO EARLY TO CELEBRATE.

May the deserving candidate win.It is too early to know who is likly to win. But it is either SATA or RB.
Go ‘king cobra’!!..umwato!!
This is becoming clear that ba Sata is pulling through. We want a change of government in Zambia. MMD you haved governed it’s enough. The is no way a person like Rupiah can beat Sata; it was going to be better if they (MMD) chose Magande. Sata mdala am behind you
NIFUNA MA RESULTS GUYS..YASHANI KEEP US UPDATED
“this time we will seek justice if any vote rigging is detected!!!!” what sort of justice, I hope you are not thinking of the kenyan way!
I am still curious about the results from southern and western. He has to win more than a couple of votes in both provinces. He has to sweep northern and luapula to offset what will be a sweep of eastern by rb.Anyone with the lowdown from the yet to be officially announced areas? Please keeps us posted.

Oh yes that is what we want.
but when is ECZ posting these results on the web?
pabwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaato
People, will you help me understand what the comeuppance would be towards the nation by reducing income tax and increasing people’s salaries? Where will the money come from to run many government institutions around the country? And what do we need to do as a nation to increase foreign investor confidence in the country? Has voting been done on the basis of tribalism and belief in fake promises from the candidates?

Jokes aside, guys, I had a serious chat with a colleague last night. In these perilous times when the Western economies are being shaken by recessive growth, Western enterpreneurs are frantically searching for resources from poor nations to consume. We need strong, radical leaders like Sata who can stand up against these big sharks and protect our resources and not sell out the nation like some sleepy leaders we know.
Leaders are readers, go on Sata this is your time ,mate.Ta!ubwatoooooooooooo
tO TIYENDE PAMODZI Thats location flag we call it KIWI FLAG
If the rural areas end up determining who the next president is l would strongly suggest we follow the US system of electoral college, where every province is allocated a number of electoral votes and would suggest Lusaka and CB have the highest Electoral votes to avoid situation where low information voters in remote rural areasn who normaly are clueless regarding pertinent issues of the day determine who the presidents are.
lets wait for the rural results,am told there was a very low voter turnout in the rural.lets hope figures will not be tempered with

Bravo BA SATA!!
This one we are getting with or without vj’s tricks
Sorry to say this but I think we’ve missed the point here. Inasmuch as we would like to see Zambians own 25% stakes, we need to realise that the 25% cannot come from anywhere without a foreign investor. You cannot FORCE an investor to do what they don’t want, as the BBC indicated and I quote, “Mr Sata, who leads the Patriotic Front, has vowed to transform Zambia within 90 days of taking office by FORCING foreign firms to hand over 25% stakes to local investors.”
Pabwato mundala wandi. I will in Zed on Sunday
Do not celebrate ladies and gentlemen for Sata’s Lead, VJ is not sleeping, they are planning to RIG by you knowing the results for sata they want how to fix the ballot by what magine so be careful with these people.
Dont get excited yet.

A hefty package will be offered to the candidate if s/he can prove the skills within one week
Notice that as usual they start from the opposition’s stronghold. Why is it always like that???? Does it mean that the counting is slow in the MMD strong hold?? I can sense that something fishy is going on here.
PA BWATOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Ala naseka sana mwe. PF cadres are very funny yaba. They never learn. They have started celebrating again. Oh please, ha ha ha. Mwa la nkontola imbafu. Ha ha ha. Look guys, its only 13% of the total and that is 13% of the constituencies not the electorates. So its possible for one to have lost in terms of the percentage in constituencies and win the over all race in terms of electorates. I mean you can have 60% of the constituencies with less voters than the other 40%. Think kaponyas, think.
SATA FOR REAL AWINA……………………………
Lets be serious! U call 60% to 30% tight. U are leaving room 4 rigging
We are coming!! Wait for Ndola Rural!! Eastern and parts of Central…………. this is purely a repeat of the 2006 election!! Where were all those crowds in Sata’s meetings which the POST doctored? If RB wins, i will want to see the direction of the post and the reaction of the readers to this organisation. I will also want to see what benefits Sata will give to the post should he win the election. Now Zambians need to see though people like Fred of the post. We need to understand that as long as allow pipo like sata to head the country then there is no need to ask the question: “Whats going on”
The Zambian people have refused to vote for me, it’s ok – I’m filthy rich!!!

We need to pray against malpractices if any. A strong conviction and exposure that will lead to repentance if there are Malpractices involved . God bless Zambia.

I thought Zambians are now civilised and have a decent level of education but going by Satas lead i am dissappointed that we can entrust an unedecated, rough kaponya with the most important job of our land. You will all regret. This is not change that zambia needs as sata has been in gvt all his life

How come it’s only MMD cadres being caught with already marked ballot papers? This is not nice. We want Fair play.
MMD is winning because Sata’s strong points have been counted and RB is not far.
A plane should be on the standby coz sata is going to have a heart attach the remaining constituency he may not have much votes.. MMD is clever let wait and see..
Number 114 we have already voted you advise is to let now.
Only God knows the final outcome of ysterday’s elections. But looking at the demographics of our country and the way results are coming in, Sata seems to have managed to grasp some MMD strongholds and he’s not losing by huge margins in areas that he’s not highly favoured. From my simple analysis, there’s a slight shift from the way 2006 elections were. This time around, pipo realy have sought change. Naf respect for the man dem Sata!!!
John Chinena, Liteta: pliz keep those updates comin..twatotela mudala…

Too early to claim victory, take it easy and wait patiently. This time results are coming in at speed, sooner than later the final result will be known.
The PF has swept almost all the constituencies in Northen province and has been doing well in Eastern province though the MMD has won. In Kabwe central and Kwacha, the PF and MMD are neck to neck with PF leading slightly.
The MMD is counting on the rural vote to make up for the differences. Western province has reportedly gone to the MMD and Solwezi Central also has been won by the MMD

93, The geography of Zambia dictates that PF strongholds, Copperbelt and Lusaka are closer in proximity to the Mulungushi International Conference centre where results are being tallied. These results come through effortlessly. The rural areas are far flung, thats why leaders went there by choppers and planes, communication is almost nonexistent so its just goes without any thinking that those results come through at the tail end…

#158, Sata was voting at Jacaranda at 08:45 and the man after voting says the election has been rigged, why did he go to vote in the first place, his minibus drivers were busy making money and said without shame that we are here to make money and not put people in state house. And where are the crowds he was pulling in Choma, Gwembe, Kaoma, this is when you see that the post is useless and that PF will never be a national party as some people claim, watch the turn of events here.
Check zambiaelections.org, the pix looks good for PF. Mwamukolo shaa!!!!. This time its for sure
there is no population in the rural areas that can beat the results that are currently available. dont forget that RB is not hot in the same areas people think will help the MMD carry the day. PF is leading by big big magins.
Let us wait until all the results are added together. HH should be encouraged; every journey starts with a step. Most bloggers were saying HH for 2011. The question is are you going to honour your promise? Let us work together as Zambians. Who ever rules us will be a leader for Zambia. Kaunda a Zambian ruled us. Chiluba a Zambian from Luapula ruled us, Mwanawasa from Central/Copperbelt ruled us, a Northener or eastener might rule us this time. What will stop a southerner, westerner, North Westerner to rule us one day. Let us just accept one another. We are all children of God.

Hi boys more results plz
Bloggers, Don’t be too excited, only 13% of the constitutuencies have been declared. Do you know statistics? The reason they are using percentiles is because the results are not yet representative. That is why they have given you absolute figures as yet. Anyway, if you want a kaponya like Sata, its up to you. He will be torturing you in your own yards but I know the illiterate man will be a disaster for Zambia and its future prospects.
imwe, if zambiaelectionsDOTorg yachine, chi nyama soya chileisundawila.
Bo Sikatana! #2 Good to hear from you.I Didn’t know Sata was your boy. Hope there are no election tricks this time around or Zambia should just stop wasting money on sham elections. Its better for coronation of ruling party leaders and precious money should be spent on developing the economy. If Banda wins this election, I would like to propose the disbanding of the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ). It would be serving no constructive purpose but delivering elections to the MMD,a waste of poor people’s money. If all their elections will have a predictable end then lets just have the end. Our country should move forward to something else electoral democracy is a far fetched idea!
Guys we are wasting time tryin to tell Sata’s kaponiya’s that history is repeating itself…….. they are kaponiya’s what do u expect?
Come midnight tonite, MMD will be declared winner of the polls
207 s.k.s. – yes they are blue. You wanted another colour? Or you think the blue is for MMD? Even PF’s colour is blue.
pliz guys give us latest election results.
#209 I support UPND, RB is going to state house whether you and me in the opposition like it.

#216 Ndubeni – you are such a low-life. Anyone with a different opinion from you is a kaponya? Get a life and maximise the days God has given you.
Enjoy yr Sata can not live in a country with such a President.
You have joined the ranks of Liberia, Seira Leon, Bukina Fasso, DRC
Zimbabwe and Idi Amins Uganda with sub competent rulers.
I want to see all the PF sycophants after 6 months of Sata rule when u have a disorganised country,
As for me I will watch u from right here (outside) because u will soon be treaking out soon.
Democracy is not always right especially in a nation where education is still far behind. This is what these election results have exposed. It is obvious that the electorates dont know what they are voting for.The majority cant even say how or what the person they are voting for will do
The situation stinks
and those who were saying Sata no linger enjoyed support in Lusaka can zoom in on each constituency to see how right they were
“longer” even
“It’s still too early to draw any conclusions,”
“Given the support for the Patriotic Front in the urban areas, it’s not surprising, and is exactly what we saw in 2006.”
Looks like there is a media black out, what’s latest bloggers? Can’t wait to see Sata in state house. Balya pafula ba makaka! Viva pa bwato!
From my own observation in 2006 there was about 61% of about 3,900,000 voters that voted thus about 2,400,000 votes were cast. This time around it is estimated to be around 30% voter turn out, thus precisely 1,200,000. So far results have an estimated total of about 550,000 votes with MC Sata leading by 55% trailed by R.B. Banda with 30%. Almost half of the votes cast have been counted.
We are still awaiting Luapula and Northern province results.
With that, I think Mr. Sata might just take the day. I don’t think the rural vote will make it any better for RB.
Lets wait and see though.
We dont want delays pliz ecz can you annouce the results,Polling agents for n/western wake up pliz verify northwestern and western provice barrot papers.

#219 – Just because HH is losing doesn’t mean you have to wish Sata to lose. Get used to the idea of Sata being the President and Hh just an ordinary citizen.
# 203 Thanks a lot mwana!! Abush that chap with tribalist remarks. We all Zambians. I am bemba and married to a lovely Tonga lady she is the best on earth!!!
It seems anyone who wants nyama soya to win is counting on the rural vote eh! Shame!!! You mean the pipo who are in the rural areas, the hardest hit by poverty, dont seem to know that this country needs a change of leadership. We dont need another whatever yrs to the next elections to be the same as the last 17 yrs. If rural voters have voted for RB, then these guys suck. I dont mind HH or ba Sata but not nyama soya who’ll propagate the same old failed policies of the last 17 yrs of MMD rule. Come on guys, we can do better.
The problem we have PF and UPND our parties and too regionally inclined, only something in the form or MMD is going to unseat MMD and that is a pact between Sata and Hakainde period. Two parties and you are assured MMD is going. The other problem is that Sata is a difficult sell in some provinces because the people in those areas have been victims of Sata’s verbal attacks before.

There should be a very small hole in the titanic. Though it has sailed off the coast, sooner than later, it will start sinking as the tiny hole begins to allow water in! Too early to celebrate. Remember Italy in Euro final against France? They scored one and went to defend. Much to their surprise, France came from behind and scored!
SATA IS GOING INTO STATE HOUSE ,COZ THE VOTING PATTERN IN EASTERN AND SOUTHERN HAS THIS TIME GIVEN SATA SOME INCOURAGING VOTES WHICH WIL MAKE A DIFFERENCE THIS TIME AROUND UNLIKE IN 2006
I cant start celebrating now until the final result…. well done this far

#216 to you kaponya’s are not supposed to comment anything on the happenings of our country. Mind you Sata is not a president for ‘kaponyas’ only as the results seems to show us. And by the way, im sure there are a lot of sensible and educated so called kaponya’s than you seem to be. Ba ‘some-of-us Ndubeni’ get a life and education, it mite help you to put things in there proper perspective.
If this guy gets into power, the country is trully finished. Finito!
What do people see in this dinosour politician.
RB will eventually win. He is not doing too bad with most results coming from SATA’s strong holds. RB is sweeping north-western and western, eastern. He will come second in southern. See you all at the swearing ceremony for RB on monday.
#234 is a raw idot…………….. Sata has been in govt for more than the 17years you talking about!! Think u senseless chaps!!! Our country has no mean of development without FDI and that Sata can bring from taiwan
Lets shame the MMD.Nipabwatoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Number 203 and 173…lets not debate tribes please. Okay, the truth is that though TONGAs are not all that HYGIENIC, they are good docile people. I know what am talking about I leaved with these traditional cousins of mine for 30 years.
MUTATELE WELI.TAKE IT EASY PF. THE RURAL BOYS ARE COMING.RB WILL EMERGE VICTORIOUS. BELIEVE ME.
Don’t get carried away people – the same thing happened in 2006. The urban results are declared first, which favours Sata, then rural results come in which swing it back to the MMD candidate. The election is still too close to call
PF is leading with acceptable margins, but its not time start celebrating, lets hold our peace, wait till all the results have being announced. This is not to say that people like VJ who are rumuored to be master rigers should take advantage of this period of waiting, he should for once try to be a man of intergrit, honest and earn himself good repute….mwa nvela ba mudala.Your chance to save yourself and your name. When your are long gone how will remember you? as a man who try to disturbe zambia’s young democracy.
Your future president,
Regards.
Not anything we havent seen before. it starts this way and ends up that way. same game same players same results . Minor changes nothing drastic. MMD still carries the day. then a disgrantled Micheal sata followed by a worsening health, then unruly PF supporters ZP swings into action and cages them. peace returns the…. an increasingly stronger HH, A vice president in the name of prof. Chirwa. A stronger MMD candidate for 2011 then ZED politics become more issue based with witty candidates. Then we get to the next stage of our development as a poor nation. Life goes on.
Waziona, for now, I shall leave you at the mercy of the other Zedians but I shall get the barton later in the day when most guys either get tired or give up.

Munkoyo you did a great job yesterday. Now can anyone tell me i got a feeling Sata’s margins in CB and Lusaka are not as wide as 2006 is it due to apathy or MMD has chipped off part of his popularity. cant remember exactly but i think in 2006 he was running in 13, 14, 15 thousand margins. anyone with figures?
alweiler#250. For you own information i wont go about telling you my level of education but it should be difinatly above that of Mr. Sata. All i am saying is that we can not honestly be headed by Mr. Sata. The man has been in every govenment!! UNIP MMD and what do you think he will do in PF. More money in your pocket??!! Dream on……… Where is Sata going to find the money to put in your pocket, do you even know how much debt Zambia is serving everyday? do you even understand the term invertor confidence?? Have you seen how the kwacha has depriciated since the death of Levy!! You need help!!
#245 walitumpa sana, inchito yashani ulefwaya coz the only job ul b given will be to pick faeces from chipata after RB gets sick of stomach pains due to sata’s victory……..
Even if Sata wins by 1 vote he has won yes I am the one crying now Ndine nilila lelo, but I will soon stop, In six months time you will be crying. When I send you 10 dollars you will be able to get 10 million kwacha. But bread will be K15 million.
imwe bantu please stop talking about rural results. suppose some of them opted to go ku mabala looking at the onset of the rains, and suppose others have died or migrate to the urban and suppose others also lost the voters cards with they view that they would not need them anymore. no result in the rural areas will bridge the gaps of between 10,000 and 17,000 because that is how much RB is training to Sata.

Iwe no. #269 the best businessmen and best leaders have a very humble background in education. What are you talking about. am convinced that only sata can clean up my streets, hospitals, the markets, repair roads, and enforce bylaws he brot for hygein and cleanliness. Pabwaaaaaaaaaato!
#108, I hope you realise that God is still on the throne. He wont allow that to happen to us. We should pray for the man who carries the day, in this case am talking about Michael (not that i agree with him totally) but i believe pipo change. Maybe his the man Zambia needs. Change is what most of us need, twanakaa bane!
Thank you all you intelligent people for blogging! I find the results so far very interesting that Mr Sata is leading in key areas where people are well informed and up to date with the political situation in our country – it means a lot. I live in the rural set up where politicians are only seen during campaign times and it is in these areas where people base their vote on being loyal to certain parties AND NOT based on the current issues. So, you people that have voted for Sata, you see what we people in rural ares don’t see. Whoever wins,HH, Sata or the incunbent acting president, let us try them out. Banda
Go MMD go!!! Go Zambian development!! Show us the numbers!!!

Imwe lekani ndeo! lets just analyse results! not who is who is more educated. that will not add or subtract to the results. lets leave that for after when one wins then we can talk about what he will bring with him. Now we cant change anything all the ballots were cast yesterday.
u still want rob him of victory
This time around we shall see the regional political parties! We talked soooo much about a certain party having a national appeal
I expected SATA to maximise the CB and LSK, but he has not done as much as was expeted. There has been a drop for PF and a gain for MMD in these town areas. I think that MMD has greately picked up compared to the performance in 2006 in the same areas. The MMD is quite wide spread over the country, so we expect that the rural areas will have the bigger and final authority over these elections.
RB seems to have a lot of tenacity in his persuit for a win, taking second position in most areas where he has not won. We expect the PF graph to begin to fall as the MMD graph will pick. By the time we have 100 consitituencies announced, we will begin to have a clear idea of the next president

Based on the comments of #280;
RB needs 75% of all votes which have not yet been announced to get 51% of overall votes.
Sata needs to get 48% of these votes…
Indeed let the best man win. But hold your breath because it will only be over when its over. Things can change and we all must accept the results after all its us the people who do the voting and not the candidates. So let us all wait and see patiently. One Zambia One Nation. Did you know that this is country risks being divided on tribal lines? If we don’t watch this, it will surely eat us.
that’s almost half the votes so far, Sata is looking good
#174,#214 and#190 mwani sekesa guys, mujoyine chabe bikiloni na difficulti.ati vinthu vako,Hmmmmm!we need light moments, keep on.
The MMD has lost much in this election. They have won in their stronghold but are droping terribly from the 2006 performance. ie Mpulungu – the gap in 2006 was 12,000 but it is at 1200 as at now. This is the partern in most constituencies. PF is gaining and MMD is losing votes.Western and NW have not done MMD a fovour . PF got not more 5,000 and MMD got 121,000. This time the MMD gets less than 70,000 and PF inproves its gains to 15,000. This is significant when you add it to the overal total for the country for them.

the beauty of it is HH is splitting RB’s vote so nicely so the boat can just sail

people, i moved from MMD to PF becuase i was dissapointed at there conduct after mwanawasa’s death, i mean the mans body was not even cold yet and they were already talking of salary increments, forming alliances with crooks, reinstating people that levy fired for good reason ETC, the party has truely been hijacked by thieves, shame, levy must be spinning in his grave,GO PF, Tiyeni tu chinje ifintu fwebena zambia.
If MMD loses there will be no MMD anymore coz all the vultures will scatter. Chiluba is the cause for not respecting that wonderfull original MMD constitution by taking wrong steps that led to the exit of the cream from the Party. Then LPM put the final nail by bringing a Unipist as his vice and also cancelling the election of the Party Vice presidency. What a tragedy it will be. The Mpombos the TETAS etc had no idea what MMDs vision and behaved like unips by air cadres. Iam hurt so much. But to in MMD you must be an accomplished lier

so so sad :'(
Thanks Waziona, There are quite a number of factors. Some of which may include, Apathy, Lost voters cards or NRCs, General resentment of MMD and its candidate. How ever the most cardinal is the Campaign method adopted by PF through the help they got from the post. The crowds swayed a number of voters towards them. The last but definately not the least is the negative picture that was cast of RB through the the so called bribes to opposition leaders and the bad sales man , mulongoti. This killed MMD and RB. Also wanting to ride on LPM image. I hope I have answered what I feel could have been the reason for the loss.
Thanks very much for the update.

I just saw the latest on ECZ website, Sata seems to have twice the number of votes against akulu mpuno! Pa bwalwa, ops, pa bwato . Hope Sata is not already started to organize the swearing in ceremony, who is the guest of honour this time around. Wina azalila!
Ba Mwansa mwtalala????? there lots of us who will claim as there are loads of us his offspring!!!!
The apathy was the peoples protest and lack of confodence in the MMD. Bakulu Mpuno Lupia’s attempt to corrupt the people was another turn off. God shall always prevail over our beutiful land and we shall praise and thank him always. Peace and to our nation. Zambians shall never vote for a corrupt leader ever.
#298. Munkoyo,
I am following all the results, and I have heard them from all places, But I expected a higher percentage of votes for SATA on CB and Lusaka than he has got at the moment.
This is why I have known that the Kaponya votes he is getting are not enough for him to go to plot 1. He should have maximised from these areas so that he is given a pushup for his lack of wide coverage in the rural zambia.

Where is the MMD stronghold , where is the rural you have been talking about. The 55 000 votes for RB in Western and N western will not offset that margin. Secondly , most of the so called rural areas are likely to go to PF coz they are located in PF Zones .

Dear Zambians, embrace change thruogh sata and avoid the monopoly of MMD. its not healthy politicaly to have on eparty for so long. let MMD feel what it takes to be in opposition this time arround. well done zambians.

My beloved Zambians, please stay calm. By the end of the day, every one will know the results. No need for presumptions. RB or Sata, Zambia yesu bonse…cibote!
IT IS NOW BECOMING CLEAR THAT MMD HAS LOST MANY RADIO STATIONS IN LUSAKA AND WEBSITES ASSOCIATED WITH ZAMBIA ELECTIONS ARE SHOWING BIG MARGINS IN FAVOUR OF SATA……ULUSE BA MIYANDA, SOMEONE SHOULD ADVICE THAT MAN TO STOP SHAMING HIMSELF IN THE NAME OF RIGHT TO STAND AS PRESIDENT. BWAFYA SOME OF THESE SO CALLED ARMY OFFICERS WHO ONLY PASSED SOCIAL STUDIES AND HANDWRITTING. PABWATO FYE….
Fellow country men, did u hear wat almost happened at Ndola Civic Center? Marked ballot papers were almost sneeked into the counting hall using a vehicle with reg no. C6.
Am told let Zambians be alert as VJ wants to rig in rural areas. Y should it take so long to anounce results from Kafulafuta, Chibombo, Mkushi, Mumbwa,Mpongwe,Chisamba, etc. I know of North & Western Provinces. They’ll rig. Villagers are easier to be munupulated.
Dont rig please, please, please! If u do so, mukafilila mu nsenga!

#361; those results look weird to me. According to the zamia elections website PF has already 428000 and MMD only 228000. So I am wondering why the decrease in PF votes and the increase in MMD votes?
Serious advice ‘get rid of “the” Nakawalas, GB, Moonga’ O else your icibwato will bunda.

#381; Compare these results with the results from the Zambian election website… doesn’t compare right?
#370 I think Miyanda is a capable leader who lacks the organization skills that King Cobra has. You can not expect him to win election when he does not organize his lonely party. He was probably the best candidate. Remember also that he has the right to stand even if he gets two votes that is democracy.
Hey guys how long can it take to count 5000? Just cant understand how 27000 would be counted by now in Kitwe and 5000 from Mpika ha not been? whcih one should take long.
PF…………chililo at midnight
it looks to me that where as the ecz is announcing the results a bit fair distribution others are concetrating on one sided results giving the picture that the difference is massive.

The ship has already been turned away from South Africa and Mozambique. The Chinese vessel was said to be bound for Angola but the US is reported to be pressuring port authorities there and in Namibia not to allow them to dock. The ship, which had been anchored off the port of Durban for four days, was forced to move on Friday after a South African court refused. Despite reports the ship was heading for Angola, but Angolan Ports Filomeno Mendonca said the vessel had not asked for permission to dock in Angola. This ship has not sought request to enter Angolan territorial waters and it’s not authorised to enter Angolan ports,” he told local radio. A South African military spokesman has said th
Deja vous. This is how PF lost in ’06. Having results from the urbanites first gives the MMD a heads up on how to massage the final outcome from the rural areas. I believe the numbers will be faed through – some with transposition errors and outright fraudulent numbers. A lead when only 19 out of 150 constituencies (13%)have been counted doesnt say much for now.

……these results. They normally like announcing the losers as leading in the beginning.
Zambia is Lsk & CB. Its like NEC is MMD. If NEC speaks, then, MMD has spoken.
So, lets respect Lsk & CB results. The rest of the parts of Zambia IS NOT and I REPEAT, IS NOT GOING to be a true reflection. The country’s heart is arouund Lsk & CB. Ask me in my 97 yrs of life, which part of ruralm or urban Zambia have i not leaved in or worked from?
Mazabuka cant have over 90,000,000 pipo for HH to have 47,000 & ERB Bwezani 33,000
MMD, Greedy chaps, the people are tired, they have seen through your greedy agenda, its almost pathetic how you move with your rusty begging bowl round the country trailed by the same people who were against you only a few months ago e.g the nawakwis, the mumbas, even unip the has bins, is this what zambian politics has come to, how pathetic, zambians are smart, they see through you, have you no pride, oh i forgot you dont!!

Sata, leader of the Patriotic Front, has won 59.5 percent of the ballots cast in 19 out of 150 constituencies, Florence Mumba, chairwoman of the Electoral Commission of Zambia, told reporters today in the capital, Lusaka. Acting president and ruling party candidate Rupiah Banda trails with 30.5 percent.

For those who can pray, let’s pray against malpractises if any, it’s only God who can save us from them if they are there. God is looking for intercessors to pray for our land and if at all there is malpractice he will surely expose it with our prayers and bring to shame everyone who is involved. God cares and sees the suffering and lack that people have cried out to him over. God bless Zambia and God bless Africa.
It will take something special for R.B to catch up. some of his strong holds have been anounced esp Eastern and North western and hee has not gotten 100% votes there. His major hope now is for him to win Western and be able to do well in Central(Not Katuba,Mumbwa) and Northern where Sata seems to be doing quite well.
One thing to note the difference in results btn ECZ and zambiaelections.org is that whilest ECZ has covered a bit of R.B’s strongholds, zambia elections website has done more of Sata’s Strong areas.
#375. Pabwato!
You need to understand that the media is free to get information from their contact persons directly from the constituencies which may not have reached ECZ at the time they reach these various independent media. So there should be no cause for worry, as these results will finally reach the ECZ. You should only worry if the independent media reports different results in the same constituencies. So dont worry, the only worry you must have is that PF has almost finished all its strongholds. So now, the only thing we expct for Pf is that his figures will now begin to slow down while MMD will begin to pick up.
ka VJ should be arrested, citizen’s arrest. Apa they will release the results ffom the vi munzi in the evening that will be for Sugar Daddy ati they voted for him because he gave them sugar for lutuku. Not this time ba ngwele. Pabwatooooooooooooooooooooo

I just want to say thanks everyone one who thinks its PF time, We will not let you down, and will never let you suffer. Thanks people, we really appreciate
Actually we are very far from determining who the winner is. Just imagine if they had started with Southern province, it would have beeen very wrong for HH to call fro a party. Anyone who knows the map of Zambia and also knows the coverage and strengths os our political parties cannot start to think of celebrating now, too too early. Wait and see! I am worried that someone may cry in venacular after final results.
To tell the truth Pf can carry the day seeing that northwestern, western and eastern didn’t vote in large numbes like 2006.
I can make a projection right now, the winner now is Sata. Because luapula will cover Northwestern,northern- western lusaka-eastern and some parts of southern where rb has won.copperbelt will cover central and the remeinder goes to sata
Viva PF
we want a man of action to move zambia
dont be mistaken people my vote went to bwato, kuya bebele ba RB,watch this space as i will be the next mayor of my small home town come 2011, i have faith in the man and i have many stories to tell, but one of them is that he saved my brothers life during one of those riots on campus, the man jumped into a broken down cab, drove into campus and got my bro out of his room, this was when the man was an MP
431, I mean, Sata is President. Numbers are in Lsk & CB, not wat VJ is about to do! Sorry, I must be driving off now. Am wanted at Acardes.
I hope to continue when i come back. That is if, coz am told that, i may join 1 or 2 groups being sent to some rural areas. We nid to fly and intercept some VJ’s boy.
One thing you must not forget is that the voter turn up was not very impressive, R.B’ s hope is that people in western province really went out to vote coz so far most of North western and Eastern has been captured in the ECZ results so far
i used to support them till i realised imbifi want to increase their pockets only.twapapata tiuzeni latest remaining percentage of the papers to be counted.
As a Canadian with millions invested in your economy, (not to mention a young lad I sponser), I can assure you I am fully prepared to pull my money out of the mountry and eliminate further investments should Sata win. I simply do not trust that he will be fair and honour contracts.
Enough said. Good luck. You’re a nice country – with good people – but you elect people who “money does not trust”. The world makes decisions based on trust.
can someone explain tht guy found with pre marked ballots at civic centre

prophetically speaking MIYANDA is wining seconded by ICHILEMA folloed by SATA and lastly but not the least BANDA. I MEAN THE OTHERWAY ROUND.
Disorganised MMD. Ati shani!
Actually we are very far from determining who the winner is. And there is no need for anyone or any institution to concentrate on announcing results from constituencies where their prefered candidate is doing fine to make him appear to be doing too well. it is not necessary because we are no longer campaigning after all.
# 458 take you money we do not need it you of course came to exploit us who do you trust Rupia
Take it easy. Zambia is not an ocean. It just has small patches of water where the boat can sail. Pankoloko. Twalya again. Sata for Bembas. Rupiah for all.
Zambian politics have become tribal & boring.
Just look at how
Sata is hammaring his colleagues in Bembaland.
HH in torturing everyone in Tongaland
RB “though showing some neutrality in western/n.western” is also pounding them in Nsengaland
Zambians next time lets look at issues like the Americans go for Abama
Mwansa Sata calm down
For those who think that RB will win in the rural areas are gambling and they should not compare mwanasawa in 2006 ections to balanda lupiya, PF pabwatoo..watch this space at 17 hrs GMT.
Going by the results in western and north western RB will win with a very big margin
sorry to PF
Out of 150 const.. 19 have been counted in which sata leads by 60%. This is not even one nineth of all the votes and you are already concluding sata will win. No wonder your math is good.

Steve you can take your money and go and hang. You are the kind of investors we do not need. U do not need to dictate to us who we should vote for , just like we dont decide who canadians should vote for. I bet none of the Zambians Voting knows who you are. So bwana get your money and get the hell out of Zambia. You should also not consider coming back. I would have said more but Im afraid LT will black list or delete my contribution.
this thug cant lead. Save Zambia from the jaws of destruction. PLease ECZ even if it takes to rig to avoid a mad man as Leader.
Imnwe bane we are seeing the repeat of 2006 elections. announcing of results are not very up todate. Already QFM have stopped announcing results as they come results will only be announce at Mulungushi. If MMD wins this is the last time I’m voting I cant be wasting my vote all the time. Let them do whatever they want now.
#400 what ship man,the PF one or what?
Everyone in the world will know where Zambia is if Sata wins.
There’s no way Rb can win N/western and western the way Levy won.People didn’t vote in large numbers this year therefore don’t just rig the election just coz u hate sata.
It’s very clear only 60% of registered voters voted.

Fair is fair, if Akulu Apuno, Nyama Soya aka RB wins in other provinces and loses in Lusaka, it will just be fair that he goes and resides in those provinces i.e Eastern, Western. It was difficult for the SC (RIP) to live among people who didn’t vote for him.

The pf is leading but you guys are still talking about rigging.
There are representatives of all parties at each polling station and their job is to ensure that the number of people who voted tallies with the number after counting.( all done in full view)
Before the resluts are announced each rep appends his/her signature on the results slip and it is then faxed to lusaka and received under full view of party reps who will verify with their colleagues at the polling stations before they append their sigs as a sign of acceptance. These results are then announced to the nation via ecz and added to the national tallies.
PF be real. U know that chances of rb catching up are high without rigg

Actually the MMD is winning; this must be clear and easy to tell by anyone with the slightest analysis. MMD has greately improved on their results even in Lusaka and CB compared to 2006. Take for instance Kanyama where Mwanawasa got only about 4,300 in 2006 and PF got over 30,000. This time RB has got over 8,000 while PF 16,000. This is the same in most constituencies as we have seen a decline in PF results and a pick for MMD. There has also been a great pick by MMD in Sothern province and everywhere else, RB has shown great tenacity in persuing the winners wherever he has not won. I can say that MMD has done extremely well so far, much better than they did in 2006 in the same areas.
iwe Chenda Bwamba, ule fwala?! Your flag shows you are in the diaspora. Go back home and stop living on the taxpayers free medicals and fend for yourself pa zed then you will see if its worthwhile to insult investors with impunity as you are doing. Shame
Lets hope sata wins coz we are tired of this government of fake promises
Investing is never about exploiting….it is about protecting and growing your investment. Zambia has riches in minerals…like Canada. However we live up to governemnt agreed contracts. Once that stops…so does the investments. That is called PROTECTING your cash.
Keep up the good work in your democracy and good luck. However if you ignore legally binding agreements…you will see investments stop and jobs eliminated.
Canada has riches in the ground, but it takes money to get them out. Without that, you have just ground….and no jobs.
ECZ should continue anouncing results!!
They like rigging in the last minute.why are they not anouncing western, north western, central and eastern?
we all know the secret.
bazalila this time
#498 what analysis should people do when they are getting the factual information do try to sound smart
Batata naba wina, Castro and I will be kicking it just like the good old days!!!
I have also noted one thing, that PF has expanded their to other areas compared to 2006. However, their percentage lead margin in LSK and CB is not as overwhelming as it was in 2006. MMD seems to have narrowed the gaps in these areas comapared to the extreme gaps they were slaped by in 2006. Because of this turn of events, the gains by PF in other smaller places may not compansate the drop in the lead in their main strongholds, which is tending to give PF a disadvantage. On the other hand the pull up by MMD in these areas (CB and LSK) is giving their candidate a definite advantage as he is displaying a good fighting spirit by getting reasonable votes wherever he is losing.
Imr
#485 dont ask me silly questions. My BP is going up. I want MMD to go.you dont know what I have been going thru in the MDD leadership. I work for these so called investors and I have been abused in all manners and my only hope I had was PF coming to power.
The turn out in East, Central, NW and West is below 40% on average. Check the difference between candidates in C/B, Lusaka, North in many cases it is 7-12 thousand. Were are for the Central east NW and West it is 2-4 thousand on average.
mwelesa twafweni
MMD has done it again, they are winning this election for sure. It’s simple arithmetic which even a kid can get right, when it comes to voting the rule of division applies. We had two major “opposition” parties and what everyone thought to be the “ruling” party and only one electorate, rigging or no rigging the MMD was bound to win and will win. I hope nobody gets a heart attack.
ps: Am not MMD
WE ARE GIVING SATA A HEART ATTACK,HISTORY WILL REPEAT ITSELF,ASK HIM.NIMWANA MANINGI UJA COBRA WITHOUT SILIVA
if you guyz from the village have not voted wisely am stopping to send money to you.The government we want is the one that is going to put more money in our pockets,so inga mwe votela wina it’s your own fault.
Sata is a classic case of a black slave put in charge of other slaves by his master and when the master abandons him, he decides to start his own slave farm. he hoever forgets that slavery has been outllaw’d and that the rules are now new. consequently, the guy then dies leaving his slaves without direction but the few who have a brain realise that slave or not the only way out is through hard work. No free money in the pocket.
510. ZAMBIAN
I agree!!
#409. Observer,
I think you would differ not only with civic leaders but all citizens.
If you read any good book civic or not, your knowledge of human rights and freedom might pick up. When that happens your point of view will totally be revised.
Human beings are the same, no difference btn the four candidates we were voting for and the street kids whose cloths may be smelling or a villager who takes 3 or four days to take a bath. The blood that flows in you is the same as that which flows in the street kid, and this is the same blood that flows through RB, SATA, HH and miyanda and you and me, in case you did not know.
Zambia needs a leader that can deliver and proven delivery record. If HH or Sata daliver, let one of them be the winner. It doesn’t matter whether HH is Tonga or Sata is a Bemba they are both Zambians who have equal chance of leading that impoverished country. The main thing is that politicians aspiring for leadership should sell their development ideas to the people and be convincing enough to win votes.
May the lord hear our prayers Mr Sata has really worked hard Lord we need our victory this time.

#473. Observer,
You say LSK and CB has people with brains but they did not turn out in large numbers. Well, I can tell you that to turn out in numbers you dont need any special brains because that is a basic exercise. Moreover if turning out in numbers needed ‘BRAINS’ then where was the brain for for LSK and CB people?
its impossible MMD is no gonna win this election because PF Hhas grabbed some of the MMD strongholds such as Kafue, Chilanga, Bwacha, Kabwe Central, Kaprimposhi, Serenje, and its coming second in Estern province, and has picked up some few votes in Western and North western. Mark my words………. The current standings are as follows:

R.B has to be a special comeback kid to overtake sata, remember last time MMD won majority votes in Central and Northern provinces but it seems things have changed in these elections
Lets wait and see

RB must be a liverpool fan coz his doing a comeback. you never walk alone RB. though i prefer HH anyway. PF forget.
LOL! Funny how the HH supporters are now rooting for RB and the PF supporters are consoled by the fact that HH is losing. What an interesting turn of events.
HISTORY 101 MHINPS
“Initial results from the election gave Sata the lead, but further results put Mwanawasa in first place and pushed Sata into third place. Interim results released after votes from 120 of 150 constituencies were counted put Mwanawasa on just over 42% of the vote; Hakainde Hichilema had 28%; and the Michael Sata had slipped to 27%. When opposition supporters heard that Sata had slipped from first to third place, riots erupted in Lusaka. On October 2, the Zambian Electoral Commission announced that Mwanawasa had officially won the election; final results put Sata in second place with about 29% of the vote.”

“Insabata mbuzuba bwa-Leza, tula boola kwiiya zya Jesu * 3
Tula boola kwiya zya Jesu * 4”
– SDA Church Zambian Tonga song.
Brothers and sisters, fellow countrymen and women, I am now going on a sabbath recess to worship God, my Creator. I will be live on here LT tomorrow to see what is happening. Otherwise, I leave you with a serious statement that please “reflect on the tribalism that Sata and MMD (Chiluba) brought to Zambia by accusing late Mazoka’s UPND to be Tonga tribal”. May you all be blessed and take careful care. “Be lazy to do any evil” – unknown.
#531, iwe Maestro slow down, your presido is sinking in quick sand, try to help him by keeping quiet. The situation here is no good at all. Its a mind waiting game.
Maestro, the only sin your presido committed is being born Tonga PERIOD. Pray about that on your Sabbath recess.
u know i cant even be excited over the results so far coz last time rigging was done at the end after people’s excitement!!! pliz, i’m realy sick and tired of MMD, i’m sure its not only me who wants change in our country
IS that my wife mimi in the US?
HH is the best but just coz his Tonga, ati awe! Bembas if u think Sata is winning, forget. VJ is doing it again. Sata speaks bemba at his campaigns, most bloggers are using bemba but ati tongas are tribal . how unfair. Sata will never rule Zambia-hardluck bembas. probably no bemba will ever rule this counrty again. mark my words.
okay Icibemba chilomfwika fye bwino nga kukonka!! Am not Bemba myself.
i also speak bemba though i an not. i do not get it right but i try, when in westeri also speak lozi, when in lusaka i speak nyanja. so #539 you a ma phucker
I will definately miss the pa bwatooooooooooo fans, they really made noise and exaggerated issues with their post newspaper.Who even taught them how to put zeros in front of the T,the thing was cool.As for upnd their comparing Obama to hh was AN abomination,a sin,a curse. The non political CVs they were bringing up was also nON starter coz most Zambians have outstanding CVs better than the CVs they were talking about.Sata,RB,Miyanda and the voids have better political CVs THAN hH.
watch it rupiah here comes sata!!!!
but that is the difference between bembas and tongas….bembas are more manipulative and they are giving way to others….it is just unfortunate that they do not want to give way to tongas. see how rupiah is getting good votes in nothern and luapula and how others are aswell. see how bembas are manipulating government and MMD but still giving chance….if tongas open up am sure bembas can warm up to the idea of using them also
anyway choosing a leader is not about the tribe but policies and morals…i dont know what morals sata has or hh that or rupiah that are so superior that u can say ok tongas or bembas or easterners (nyanjas, tumbukas…) are better, it is the same when chirwa said he is the best and mwanawasa said no…because mwanawasas viewing was that every zambian must have equal chance and everyone that deserves it and has a good dream with a heart for the people can be given the chance…you dont have to be a rocket scientist to be president but even if you are or even arent you can also be…important thing is to connect with people especially at a unifying level
habaaaaaaaaaaaaaa,i cant believe it how the pipo of MPULUNGU,MBALA,SENGA HILL,NAKONDE,ISOKA EAST AND ISOKA WEST can be so sleep to go to an extent of voting for RB shame on u the MAMBWES AND NAMWANGAS no wounder ar stil sleep,hw can you forsake yo own CHLID SATA cant you see to yo fellow EASTERNERS AND SOUTHERNERS THE HAVE DONT IT THERE OWN SON,.
SHAMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
the MMD victory, if we may call it that, will be a victory of arrogance, thuggery, lacerny and corruption all rolled into one. it will be a band of robbers celebrating the rape of a nation whose people are incacerated in a cell of poverty and hopelessness at the hands of these shameless men and women who smirk their lips in satisfaction as they send us to sleep.
ITS NOW TIME PF AND UPND POOLED THEIR RESOURCES (VOTES) TO DISLODGE MMD. THIS IS THE CALL FROM EVERY WELL MEANING ZAMBIAN WITH INTEREST AT HEART TO DEVELOP ZAMBIA. WE ZAMBIANS ARE HUMBLY ASKING BOTH PARTIES TO BURY THEIR HATCHETS AND JOIN HANDS. WE DO NOT WANT MMD/UNIP AGAIN. THERE IS TOO MUCH POVERTY IN THE COUNTRY WITH ALMOST EVERYTHING. TO PUT IT SIMPLY, PF, UPND PLEASE PUT TOGETHER YOUR VOTES AND KICK OUT MMD. THANKS.
Tonga and Bemba are the same in most ways except for the pronouciation. Remember original Bembas and Tongas are some of the earliest people to live in this country. The original Bembas are no more but their language lives on. The group from Congo conqurered the original Bembas and made them their subjects. However t5hey failed to conquere the language which they speak upto now. Current Bembas are originally Luba from the South of the Congo.
