The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested a secondary school teacher in Lusaka in connection with an alleged corruption case involving K90,000 linked to teacher recruitment under the Ministry of Education.
In a statement to the media, ACC Acting Head of Corporate Communications, Chilufya Chisanga, said Charles Mubita, 30, of Kamwala South, has been charged with one count of corrupt practices by a public officer under the Anti-Corruption Act.
Mubita, a teacher at Robert Dean Secondary School, is alleged to have solicited K90,000 from a complainant between June 1 and June 15, 2026, with the promise of securing employment for the complainant’s sister within the Ministry of Education.
Chisanga said investigations indicate that K50,000 was initially paid, after which an additional K40,000 was demanded.
She said that acting on information received on June 12, 2026, the ACC conducted an operation during which the suspect allegedly received K5,000 as part payment of the outstanding amount, leading to his arrest.
Chisanga said Mubita has since been released on police bond and is expected to appear in court soon.
She warned members of the public against paying bribes for employment opportunities and cautioned against individuals who demand money under the pretext of facilitating recruitment.
