Kafue district council has warned the Cavendish University management to start developing the land allocated for construction of a University within the next 30 days failure to which the land will be withdrawn.
Kafue district council chairman Goodson Sansakuwa said Saturday in an interview with ZANIS in Kafue that management at the council and councilors are worried that the land has remained idle for the past four years when it allocated to the university.
He said it was against the law to keep land undeveloped for that long time.
Mr. Sansakuwa said the council has decided to give the university 30 days in which it should show cause why the land in question cannot be grabbed away from them and be given to other serious developers.
He said while the council is aware of the importance of tertiary education to the nation, it was prudent that developers once given land , they develop it within the shortest period of time and not hold on to it.
Mr. Sansakuwa further stated that despite the university having in the recent months complained of encroachment on their land; it was not true because a verification of their claims was undertaken and no encroachment was found on the ground.
And Mr. Sansakuwa disclosed that Kafue council will continue with its land audit so as to address problems of double allocation and other land related disputes. He said it is the intention of the council to acquire land for serious developers and residents so that they can give them.
Mr. Sansakuwa said his office is happy with the progress made so far on resolving land issues as opposed to assertions that workers at the council are corrupt and are involved in illegal land deals.

Good threat indeed. Let them show cause by doing something
Withdraw the land and re-allocate it to serious developers like me.
its a private sku, they hav the money. they beter get to work or giv the land to me.
THOSE ARE BRIEFCASE INVESTORS,REPOSSESS THE LAND,THEY ARE TIME WASTERS
i just hope the Kafue district council chairman Goodson Sansakuwa hasnt got personal interest in the piece of land. What is the council doing about incomplete buildings in lusaka cbd.Dont allow people to just build up to slab level and forget.Give people a time frame in which to complete these buildings.Councils should be serious ALA!
When land is allocated to these “developers”, they must be given legal conditions, which, if violated, should lead to our authorities to repposses (spelling)the land in question. There should be no messing about; we need to be serious about our land!
What are they waiting for?
They are supposed to have finished by now.
Do they have debts like Zambian Airways which is poorly run by the POST officials?
Uyu Sansakuwa azilumba yeka! Ati they have resolve most of the land issues. If there is any government department were corruption walks on two legs is Ministry of Land. #8 Well said, this man has got an interest, someone has promised him something. We know them
Give them more time, with the world financial crisis investors have problems with capital flow… Kafue is a bush with vast land which can be allocated to other developers
Imwe guys when do you write these comments kansi? Do you write them in advance? I have never been nambala 1. Anyway, they thought the University had money and opted for it than a Zambian who wanted land for a village.
Grab that land if they don’t commence construction. These pipo are charging VERY high fees at their institution and them being an international institution, they are well positioned to fund the construct.
This guy is a part cader, I am just from reading what he has said about the post. Hope he is not intendinng to grab land and give it to his fellow part caders whom he promised during campaign. This is what they do, they promise people land so that they can vote for them. Ministry of land check with this Kafue MMd cader before he frustrate investors.
IN WHAT CAPACITY IS TALKING COZ UNIVERSITY LAND FALLS UNDER LUSAKA CITY COUNCIL THAT SANSAKUWA IS A CROOK HE GOES ROUND CLAIMING TO BE A WITCH FINDER THEN ACCUSES PPL HE HAS A GRUDGE WITH LATER ON HE POSSESES THEIR LAND OR ASKS THEM TO GIVE HIM SOMETHING HE SWINDLED A RICH WIDOW BY CONNING HER AFTER HE PROMISED TO MARRY HER BE CAREFUL WITH HIM DONT EVEN KNOW HOW HE GOT BACK INTO POLITICS HE WAS AT ONE TIME EXPELLED FROM MMD
I am a young bro to rupiah and you guys should not be messing around him. He won the election clearly like Obama>
Ha ha ha!!! No please, am joking. can see someone about to hit me my cheek.
That land should be given to a very, very, very, very, serious investor like me. I am not joking here please. Give me the address for Kafue Council and I will apply immediately.
yours faithfully,
serious Investor
China
P.S. I will employ Zambians and abuse them!!!

“We need similar ideologies. Patriotic Front (PF) President Michael Sata says political parties should only merge if they hold similar political ideologies. Mr. Sata says there is no need for political parties that do not have a similar agenda to come together. He was responding to a question on the need for the opposition parties to merge in a bid to oust the ruling MMD from government. This was during a press briefing in the Zambian capital, Lusaka, Friday. Mr. Sata questioned the credibility of the Zambian electoral system under the current legislation. He also reiterated his party’s plans to petition President Rupiah Banda’s election.” Source: w w w . z n b c . c o . z m. Why ask UPND?

Maestro, let me agree with you, though your topic is out of context! Your phrasiology is very clear and distinct, like someone who realy went to a good school! Reading most of the comments on this blogg one can tell the level of education. Its no joke, we need a varsity! We cant have a nation of semi-illiterates.

Zambians should put cash together and build another university like UNZA was built.. we need to begin pooling capital as Zambians for major development projects
Is this sansakuwa related to sansakuwa the witch finder? Is he witchfinding Cavendish? 30 days is too short notice. Give them 3 months. but don’t grab the land and give it to your friends or the chines for a blue envelop
#32, Wafwa na panga, and #34, O’pressed, thanks and take care.
I have read your comments with interest. My friend is an investigative journalist who actually went there today on a fact finding mission. The Council authorities refused that they never sat down as council to come up with such a position. Infact, they confirmed that encroachment was actually there, and they will compensate cavendish for this. The council worker who obviously begged not to be quoted, said Sansakuwa expressed his own personal opinion and not that of the council. Title deeds have not been given to these guys yet, therefore they are not building. You need to commend them for trying
Hi
i heard this university has started buying residential plots and demolishing the houses turning them into campuses for expansion. i think that’s better than waiting for title deed forever. kabili when you buy a house you get title deeds almost immediately. it’s the same sansa-whatever who should show cause within 30 days why people should not suspect him of trying to take away that land from these investors and give his fellow cadres! tulebako serious guys!!
Sansakuwa is not fit to be Kafue council Chairman. Its a pity we allow ourselves to be led by such mediocre characters. Both Cavendish & Executive management of the Council have been trying to resolves the contentious issue quietly.
Firstly the Councillors themselves started allocating part of the land given to cavendish to their cadres for votes just before this new group of councillors came into office as a way of buying votes by telling people that your property value will go up once the University is built and you are near their area.
Secondly no title deeds have been issued to date and this same councillor must be the raeson why.Get council meetings minutes.
