Acting President Hon Edgar Lungu has said government has received with pain and anguish the death of nine people in the Kavalamanja-Feira Road Traffic Accident.
Hon Lungu who is also Home Affairs Minister said the accident was tragic and heart breaking not only to government but the country as a whole.
The Acting President in his message of condolences to the families of the nine people who died said he was awfully saddened at the loss of more innocent lives in yet another road accident.
“Allow me on behalf of government and indeed on my own behalf to convey my deepest condolences to the bereaved families. We pray that the Almighty God will console and give strength to the bereaved families during this excruciating period,” said the Acting President.
Hon. Lungu has wished the 18 injured victims a quick and full recovery.
He said the government was deeply concerned about the frequent road fatalities on the Zambian roads.
The Acting President has since urged Police and RTSA to work closely with motorists and other road users in ensuring that traffic rules and regulations were observed in order to make roads safer and deal with drivers abrogating traffic rules and regulations.
“We advise motorists to observe traffic rules and regulations and avoid driving whilst drunk or over-speeding so as to reduce on road carnage and loss of innocent lives and where possible, avoid driving during awkward hours,” stated Hon. Lungu.
The Acting President has since assured the bereaved families that government will come in and assist so as to lessen the burden shouldered on them.

i thought i was the only one who saw that. So these guys are now recieving the dead eh?
Sad indeed. Looks like these people went for Campaigns. This loss is unacceptable. condolences to the family. It is painful. Painful.
The commonest cause for ‘losing control of a vehicle and failing to negotiate a corner’ is excessive speeding and overloading especially on unmaintained roads. It remains with the driver to use common sense and be more cautious. Most Zambian drivers think they are smarter and better by driving unnecessarily fast.
The never ending road traffic deaths are very sad for the country.
I must admit this President runs the country so soberly unlike MCS. Sense comes out of his mouth each time he opens it. What a great President mwebantu!
I agree. He seems to be very sober.
I have never heard insults from this man. Not the one with rotten teeth. He really attack people.
How many times and ways are we going to accept being injured and dying in hands of the few who choose to disobey LAWS? “citizen arrest”. These guys are not many to continue beating people, killing innocent people through reckless driving. we need formation of C10?s. C10?S will have a mandate to protect the rights of women, children, travelers being abused by cadres/ conductors at the bus stops and also men work solely give themselves to help developed this Lovely country. Police has C5, the RTSA we will have C10. we can not allow unlawful abiding citizen to continue beating up innocent citizens, causing death by dangerous driving. Cadres C10 will come to effect soon and very soon. we will flash you from markets, bus station and follow you in the compounds until you go the villages.

The blood is on the one who instigated the bye election….Without these useless bye elections many lives would have been saved
If we had to interview the Driver of this fateful vehicle and secondly, carry out an extensive MOT check (certificate of fitness) on it, the following I am pretty certain will come up thus;
* Driver is young and inexperienced, was drunk, perhaps with NO driving License at all, was speeding and no due care of the state of the road.
* The vehicle had NO test certificate, bold tyres, no brakes, entire suspension faulty and/or generally, the vehicle was/is unroadworthy.
* The Police road block is/was there but, were allowed to proceed “over-loaded” because the Police man/men were paid
Why then do we care? Lets continue dying after all, fyakuifwaila.
