Soccer fans have appealed to the Zesco to avoid load shedding as Zambia takes on Lesotho in a crucial world cup qualifier match at Ndola’s levy Mwanawasa stadium today.
Zambia Sports Fans Association (ZSFA) Patron, Peter Makembo, said Zesco should endeavour to provide electricity to the majority soccer lovers who will be watching the game at their respective homes.
In a telephone interview with ZANIS Sports in Lusaka yesterday, Makembo thanked the business communities for facilitating the live coverage of the game for the majority Zambians who will not be at the stadium.
But by press time, efforts to get a comment from Zesco Public Relations Officer, Yami Zimba, failed as her mobile phone was off while Managing Director, Cyprian Chitundu, was reported to be in a meeting.
And Makembo has predicted that Zambia will beat Lesotho by a large margin in today’s crucial Brazil 2014 World Cup qualifying game at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
Makembo also disclosed that over 15 buses carrying supporters were yesterday afternoon expected to leave Lusaka for Ndola in readiness for today’s game.
He said the drivers have already been cautioned to obey traffic rules as the supporters will be singing and chanting Chipolopolo slogans all the way up to Ndola.
Meanwhile, the Zambia Soccer Fans Association (ZSFA) has urged the team to remain focused in today’s match, saying this is the only game that will decide the team’s stay in the race to Brazil.
ZSFA chairman, Yotam Mwanza, said the players should not disappoint the massive fans who have shown strong willingness to cheer the team despite its recent poor performances.
Mwanza told ZANIS Sports in Lusaka yesterday and expressed hope that the goal drought the team has been experiencing could be reversed tomorrow as he predicted a 4-nil-win in favour of the Chipolopolo boys.

Why not focus on lobbying for ZESCO to stop loadshedding each time school going Children are writing grade 7. 9 and 12 exams. My daughter had to study in candlelight most of the time last year and she barely passed.
Well said. They should ask Zesco not to loas shed coppermines, textiles, major, middle and minor farms. Also schools and hospitals.
