Wanyama hoping to gel with Mayuka

Share

Kenya midfielder Victor Wanyama says he is looking forward to working together with Emmanuel Mayuka at Southampton.

Wanyama joined Southampton this month from Scottish side Celtic for £12.5million.

“I know him although we’ve never played against each other,” Wanyama told the Southampton website.

“Hopefully soon we’re going to play alongside each other though.

“It’s always good to have somebody from your continent so I’m looking forward to getting along with him and hopefully it will be good for us both.”

Mayuka played just 11 Premiership matches but scored no goals in his first term since joining from Swiss side Young Boys.

Wanyama, 22 arrives with quite a reputation from north of the border with 10 goals over two seasons in 55 Premiership matches for the Glasgow side.

  1. How is he going to gel with him if he (Mayuka) is ever warming the bench…maybe he means when they are on a night out on the town. It would have been better for Southampton and Mayuka if he was loaned out to a division one side for a season.

    • Jay Jay, from Premier league to Championship and you reckon He should be loaned to a League 1 team, He’s better off fighting for a place in the Championship.

  2. May be he can help our young man pick up form. If Mayukwa does not play regularly in the before December he may be offloaded during the January transfer window.

  3. Yes Wanyama, you are right. Please encourage our young man Mayuka so he up his game. Hopefully your presence (fellow african) will motivate Mayuka.
