Useless honorable Ministers and MP’s
What is wrong with the phrase “honorable useless MP or honorable useless Minister”? And what happens when the “honorable” become useless? Jesus spoke about this scenario when he reminded his followers that: “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot” (Matt 5:13).
Some of us who celebrated King Cobra’s victory in 2011 are wondering what really happened to the Cobra we voted for—we are ashamed. The Cobra is tame, and accordingly, his cabinet and MPs are useless.
The word “useless” can mean “of no use,” or “good for nothing.” In Bemba, a useless person is called ichipuba—thus nobody expects anything sensible from such a person. In fact, it is said that don’t waste your time arguing with a useless person—unless you are useless too.
[pullquote]So next time we hear useless MPs or Cabinet Ministers speak, let us remember that we are listening from honorable useless politicians—so we should not believe their useless statements.[/pullquote]
Evidently, President Sata is right, all his ministers and PF Members of Parliament are useless—and he means good for nothing. A simple illustration makes sense—who can disagree with the President that Chishima Kambwili, Edgar Lungu, Wynter Kawimba, Mwansa Kapeya and Miles Sampa are all honorable useless Ministers—just ask the president? If they were not, they would have resigned. But why should they—after all, they are all useless.
Honorable useless Minister Kambwili can rant as much as he wants—the truth is, he is useless too. According to President Sata, all PF “MPs were useless” and all [his] “ministers are just useless,” and that is why they are not doing their jobs! Come 2016, the president has promised he won’t even look at their application papers to contest on the PF ticket–they are awfully and execrably useless. His reshuffling of his useless cabinet is justified—nobody can govern with a cabinet of fipuba. So next time we hear useless MPs or Cabinet Ministers speak, let us remember that we are listening from honorable useless politicians—so we should not believe their useless statements.
Maybe it is time to ask, is King Cobra useless too? How on earth can one justify his lack of self-discipline in official communication? President Sata informed the nation that the acting High Court Registrar George Zulu was “a fake Lawyer” during the swearing in ceremony of judges. Yet one wonders why Zulu did not get arrested for being a fraud, or else let him sue the President for defamation—I guess he is a fake lawyer after all.
But the swearing-in-ceremony encounter also revealed serious flaws in the president’s office. In the normal world, such ceremonies are rehearsed to avoid such embarrassing encounter. So rather than blaming Zulu the fake lawyer, President Sata revealed his own failures to run his own house. Where was his chief of Staff? Why ask, they are all useless.
Comedy permeating diplomatic events
It is sad that comic leadership of President Sata is not limited to national politics but extends to diplomatic events. He can hardly differentiate between being a comedian, and dealing with diplomatic issues. It’s not long ago that Sata brought ridicule on Zambia when he joked about South African President’s shaved heard; it’s not long ago that he embarrassed Zambia over his role in the Zimbabwe situation in Angola; it’s not long ago that he insulted President George Bush; it’s not long ago that he made embarrassing diplomatic “war remarks”— claiming that Zambia will host war refugees should Malawi–Tanzania go to war over boundary disputes—only useless MPs and ministers can be associated with such a president.
The president expects us to follow the guidance of useless politicians when it comes to policy decisions. But why should ordinary Zambians entrust their future to useless individuals; and why should we continue to pay very high salaries and allowances to useless politicians? That aside, does the President really understand the implications of having useless cabinet ministers, useless MPs, and fake lawyers on national security, foreign policy and the economy?
As head of State, President Michael Sata needs self-respect and restraint in his words. As president, he is a role model in word and action to the nation. It is sad that the president demeans those who help him govern, and he expects us to respect them.
Mr. President Sir, only useless people can be governed by useless politicians—and I believe Zambians are not useless. In 2016, they will remember that your MPs and ministers are “no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.” As for now, we should not expect anything sensible from your useless administration—it is made up of useless politicians—to paraphrase your own words.
By Rev Kapya Kaoma
Reverend, please calm down if you are a man of God
From the article its clear the Reverend was very calm, if not too calm! The useless PF government has gone too far but maybe Zambians are also useless because they just sit there and watch their country self destruct perhaps in exchange for a few $$ given to them to buy their silence.
Rev Kapya Kaoma your dislike and despicable getting away with the dislike of PF is evident..
I am ashamed to read your article and you equally should burry your head of shame in you hands to be proud of this nonsensical biased incoherent article
I await you, to write an article on how well the PF has done, and not this hearsay which has shown you arr just a cadre hiding behind the blanket of being a reverend
I am very disappointed, I await your reply sir.
Thanks
wondering what really happened to the Cobra we voted for…Rev.
Bwana Rev nothing has changed, it is the same man who is associated with Chawama hacking, beating kambwepwe, insulting North Westerners, the list is endless. The only thing which happened is that you did not listen to St. Chanda Chimba III period. For now continue dancing to dochi kubeba without sound on an empty tummy.
Rev….Muletasha bane!! What type of a reverend are you who cant appreciate? You want Zambia to be like Belgium, England, Brazil etc in 2 /3 years? You are a reverend who just want to talk because you want to talk.
Anyone who has know ba Sata for years knows he has a sense of humour, coupled with a humble education. To him, all white people are “colonialists” – so he didn’t mean any disrespect to George W Bush. In Lusaka lingo, being “fake” meaning not having done one’s task well – that how he described George Zulu for not arranging transport for judges on time. And calling MPs “useless” simply means they should pull up their socks.
Please understand ba Sata – he has no formal education, with limited vocabulary.
Iwe Mangalande, please stop reducing presidential etiquette to just how an incumbent is either understood or known to speak, joke or behave by his relatives, neighbours, friends or fellow fools. We are talking here about a person who is entrusted with the affairs of our country and should speak and behave in manner that will promote the image and culture of Zambians. He must have the flavor of language and speech which is correct, respectable, unambiguous and appreciated by any audience in the world. He’s the man to market Zambia and create the sort of attitude that citizens of other countries should have towards Zambians!!! If you’re honest to God and to yourself, you’ll agree that Sata is clearly NOT THE RIGHT PERSON for this job.
TROUBLE WE HAVE IS THAT SATA BEING AN EXPOSED MAN HE HAS A VISION OF WHERE HE WANTS TO TAKE THE COUNTRY AND HE IS VERY POSITIVE ABOUT IT. I WONDER WHETHER EVEN TWO% OF HIS MINISTERS SHARE HIS VISION WHETHER THEY ARE EDUCATED OR NOT. EVERYONE WHO HAS LIVED IN THE INDUSTRIALISED AND HIGHLY DEVELOPED COUNTRIES HAS ATTAINED A CERTAIN LEVEL OF APPRECIABLE EDUCATION JUST THROUGH THROUGH INTERACTING WITH HIGHLY TECHNICAL AND HIGHLY ORGANISED FACILITIES AND SERVICES. MOST OF OUR MINISTERS HAVE NEVER LIVED OVERSEAS TO HAVE ATTAINED THAT DEFAULT EDUCATION. IF SOME DID- NOT LONG ENOUGH. JUST COMING FOR A HOLIDAY IS FAR FROM BEING ENOUGH TIME OF STAY.
Even him, he is useless or Chumbu mushololwa and CNP.
What a useful statement about uselessness! Well written, entertaining and factual. Thumbs up!
Very well written, calmed down for what? It is Sata himself who has admitted that he and his cabinet are useless. You expect the president to perform when he has useless people like Bob Sichinga surrounding him?
Fr. Kaoma. You are 99% correct. However, I wish to differ with you over the last paragraph. It may be painful to accept it but I say – All of us Zambians are equally useless.
Why? How on earth could we vote for such a bunch of useless leaders in the first place. Secondly, we even turned out in huge droves to endorse our idio-cy in the middle of a September night.
Thirdly, we just keep on watching day and night as our country is being raped by the same group.
Can any one justify all these. No wonder all Presidents and heads of States worldwide have abandoned your Man of Action.
The fact that Zambians can vote for such a leader shows that Zambian are useless collectively. Look at where the country is heading to, we can not even maintain the colonial streets, look at how filthy your Lusaka is, useless people!!!
if he does not fire them HE IS USELESS TOO. after all he is the head what do you expect?
Reverend, you and I, we are singing from the same hymn book. Big ups!
Written like a true “Up and Down” (UPND) believer and they will have a field day about this, especially that they have never ruled and will probably never rule this country! The President is simply trying to get more results out of his ministers and he can say “they are useless”, just to shake them up. Then someone like this clergyman goes to right a whole article about it? I wonder what time he preaches and prepares his sermons!!!
Forgive this son of the devil. Many will come in MY NAME.
@ Mushota
come on man who told the Nation about useless mps and useless ministers, don’t blame the Rev he is just saying what your president said, let me warn you i saw the downfall of mmd on this blog and people thought it was a joke by then i was busy supporting Sata and i regret.
Why being annoyed when writting this article? Whom are you adressing? This was known along time when you were calling for the budget of the referendum. How much is it sir if i may ask? what is the altenative way of adopting the constitution?
Very useless government, period.
Fyonse fipuba……
Reverend wa mafi mafi!
……. Just a thought – all gents and maybe some ladies (you never know these days) imagine, as a man you ended up dating Mushota? Just the thought of it makes me quiver with fear!
Big ups Rev. Keep informing the nation for you indeed have a social and spiritual responsibility
We need a movement in Zambia which is going to shape the country in a future modern society. I think as Zambians we are blinded of what our politician do, for example our president sata, he was in UNIP and MMD before forming PF, how can a person like him develop the country when he failed to do so in the past. So lets open our eyes and vote for people who are going to make a difference, every politician should be criticized if they are not doing there job. The Kwacha have lost value like rotten masuku and the prizes of essential commodities are very high, the new roads which are being built have potholes before they are finished. There is a lot to be done for Zambia to compete on the world markets, the other thing is the approval of a mine in a national park . just to saying
Are you in a French speaking America?
Joke! I hear you….good points. In short, our polling based on tribal lines is our downfall. We should remove tribe from politics and only use merit when electing our leaders. Sata’s hard line stance and shooting off the hip management style is well known and documented. Have you ever heard of the following sayings before?
– A leopard never changes its spots
– You can’t teach an old dog new tricks
– You can’t force a horse to drink water
– You can’t stop Sata from mutating into Satan
We just need to put up or shut up for now. Sata has is mandated to show you more hit pepe until 2016. It has been a big lesson to you all and a wake up call.
The headline sounds like the title of a cautionary tale; unfortunately people are too caught up in adulation of the feigned empathy of said group of characters (the politicians in question) who merely line their own pockets and harass all against them. The same disdain is evident in the comments on this article.
Can anything good come from poison?
Yes, if I put it in your porridge.
useless pf believers when your useless father address you like that you say he is happy with you its said give a dog a good name then it will be good but in your case to be called useless is a praise you fools that is your end just wait.
Well done Reverand… A spade a spade…. Most Zambians are useless for allowing a useless government to continue in existence. If Sata himself can call his government useless, who are we to state otherwise? The fish after all does rot from the head!
And uzileSS Leverand.
IT IS PEOPLE LIKE MUSHOTA WHO SHOULD BE MENTIONED IN THE SAME BREATH AS THE USELESS MPS. THE PRESIDENT CALLED HIS MPs AND MINISTERS USELESS,YET YOU SAY MULETASHA! MUSHOTA YOU ARE SUCH A NINCOMPOOP. HELP BA SATA IMPROVE THE LIVES OF ZAMBIANS BY NOT ACCEPTING MEDIOCRITY!
Ba President you also have a useless Secretary to the Cabinet. He calls for meetings and rants through out without listening to technocrats! SC you need to listen more and talk less. Administration come and go civil service remains, you are destroying what others had built.
Laggards can’t see sense in what rev. Said. They are the ones responsible for this mess
