The PF government must consider further reductions or even zero-rating taxes on agriculture equipment as well as re-introduce fuel and crop subsidies, says UPND president Hakainde Hichilema.
And Mr. Hichilema has reiterated that he was heavily constrained to comment on the health of President Michael Sata or indeed any citizens because such issues were a preserve of someone’s family and doctors.
Speaking last evening when he met a group of farmers from Eastern province who complained about PF government’s poor agriculture policies and late payments, Mr. Hichilema said it was dangerous for the PF to continue playing with people’s lives through continued lies.
“As a true believer in God, one thing I will not do is attempting to win an election based on falsehoods. I would rather tell the truth and lose an election than win one on falsehoods. My integrity and peace of mind are very important to me.
The consequences of telling lies and winning using underhand methods is what we are seeing now under the PF where people are even more depressed because they were told lies just for the vote,” Mr. Hichilema told the Eastern province farmers.
The UPND leader said he now fully understood the geographic landscape of each region of Zambia and the comparative advantage of each area than when he was in the private sector.
“I have traversed the length and breadth of this country and this potential they talk about in speeches is just an inch away from being a reality. If only we had the right leadership,” he said
“For example each time I tour Luapula province to see my Aunt in Nchelenge, I am more than convinced that the place can be the Durban or Cape Town of Zambia. Lake Mweru is a massive water body which can house various activities alongside the local people that are fishing in the lake.
The landscape and vegetation there is ever green and from my investigations, we can even have a bigger sugar plantation than the one in Mazabuka. And what more with the potential market in Congo DR,” he observed.
The UPND leader said he just came back from North-western province where he spent the night in the middle of the stream after one of the vehicles got stuck, but fully appreciated the economic potential of the area other than mineral wealth.
He said it was sad that farmers in Eastern province had resorted to smuggling their maize into Mozambique because their own government could not assist them in opening up markets there.
He took advantage of the meeting to present the UPND manifesto which he said was anchored on four pillars namely:- Prudent economic management, Agriculture and food security, Education, and Health.
“The PF are only boasting of building roads, even when that’s the responsibility of any government. But all these roads are MMD roads. What PF is doing is akin to a builder that boasts of building a house that he had no input into; they have no new programmes.
Those road contracts are only good for the PF corrupt clique that is benefit at the expense of the people of Zambia and our future generations who will pay back the loans being used to build these roads.
Mr. Hichilema said the UPND would rather borrow for productive sectors such as agriculture and manufacturing. He wondered how Zambia can be importing brake-pads when young men at Chilenje market can bond brake-pads for cars.
Money generated from productive sectors can be used to build, rehabilitate, and maintain roads without any danger of the country accruing more debt for our children to pay from their taxes instead of investing money to broaden the tax base,” he said.
“I was with some youths the other day who have nicknamed them the Chaotic Front. I know there you call them Paya Farmer, but the youths I was meeting yesterday have renamed Patriotic Front as Chaotic Front, and I agree with them, there is chaos in this country” the UPND leader.
He reiterated that the UPND in government will set the floor price for agriculture produce before the farming season so that farmers can plan properly and grow crops knowing the minimum price.
“I am always distressed and actually feel depressed when I hear that farmers or indeed any worker have not been paid their dues on time when they have worked for it. Farming is hard work and I think hard work must be rewarded and not punished”, Mr. Hichilema said.
And when asked about the condition of president Sata, Mr. Hichilema said he was as blank as anybody else other than the official government position that the president was enjoying good health.
Mr. Hichilema said as a true believer, he always prays for that good health of President Sata and the entire leadership of the country.
He said at least let them enjoy good health even when we do not agree with them politically and the way they are running the country.
“For me political leadership should not be reduced to opportunism where people should wish others ill in order to occupy certain positions. In fact that is evil and I would not want to be drawn into such debates even if Sata is a public figure whose healthy concerns everyone. At the end of the day, Mr. Sata is a family man placed with a heavy responsibility of looking after the country. Let’s be united as a country in praying for the good health of President Sata, the national leadership, and each other,” he told the gathering. We may differ politically, but one thing should bind us together; Compassion.
He ended his address by telling one of the people present who wanted him to comment on Zambian turning 50. He said he intends to reflect on this particular milestone and at an appropriate time would issue a comprehensive statement of what the UPND thought had been done right and wrong for this country and how the future would look like depending on the choices the Zambian people made now.
More lies from HH
@Visionless 20×20…..!!
Perosnall I like Sata BUT I HATE HIS DECEPTION AND SUPPORTERS like you……!!
Father Bwalya already said ” the Sata I used to kno died along time ago”.
Lets help the OLD MAN AS HE IS AGING, POLITICS ASIDE PLEASE !!
God is Gracious he puts and removes Kings.
Sata made a mistake whn HE GOT TOOOOOOOOOO DRUNK WITH POWER and God has humbled him.
Hmm HH has suddenly started pretending to be a saint ? This free mason will never cease to amaze me with his pretence. We can see through you sir. Your real character is as clear to see through. It is as clear as water in shungu namutitima. You can put on that facade but we are still able to discern the real you. So tell me how many cows were you planning to donate toward his funeral ?
Chilebepafye ichi chi HH chilafwaya Sata ukufwa.Nichi pretender fye.
One pathetic thing with the pathetic Panga Family supporters is that they don’t see sense in everything HH says. The only language they see is LIES, DECEPTION and CORRUPTION. Shame on all of you.
HH should not deceive the nation by pretending he wishes HE Sata good health when in his heart he is heavily praying that HE Sata should have died before sept 2011.
He even has the contemptuous audacity to question why God has kept HE Sata alive to this day.
We all know that you have no love in your wicked heart, thats why God almighty will never allow your dirty fingers and your soulless heart to get hold of the instruments of power.
Which true and living God would answer your mockery of prayers?
Just shut your dirty mouth
Many of us can see through this privatisation thief. He is nothing but a crook who wants to be at the helm and loot more.
Thankfully, there is a government in waiting and a vibrant young leader!
HH HH u r right …..!!! Vegeance belongs to the Lord. Lets forgive our Grandpa for the INSULTS HE propagated during the reign of Mwanawasa.
Lets live in Peace as Zambians. Lest learn to forget.
Personally I will pray for God’s will upon ba Sata.
Right now he is “pale and confused like a mad person”.
“As a true believer in God, one thing I will not do is attempting to win an election based on falsehoods. I would rather tell the truth and lose an election than win one on falsehoods. My integrity and peace of mind are very important to me.”
Liar ! Liar ! Liar !
We all know that you are the master of falsehoods and attention seeking using your little Zambian watchdog. How many times has your little publication published Sata is dying or is dead stories ? My friend Sunny Chitombwa you have issues.
Well, dont accuse HHfor what you read in the media. He is innocent of the p[resident’s health,. He was not there when the president was enjoying making bana ba vigololo, marrying different women and divorcing and hey he never asked him to be a cigarette addict. Please leave HH alone and stick to the topic
Iwe ka saulosi, what falsehood can be as deadly as what our president Sata used to ascend to the highest office. Its only sad that Zambians forget too fast. Where is our constitution promised in 90 days? Where is the more money in our pockets? where is the Zambia developed in 90days? Where is the barotse agreement restored? etc… Are those lies not enough to make you understand He lied to make his way to that seat? You should be blogging after smoking that weed I suspect.
Wata thanks for your wise comments. It was not HH who sent satan to start marrying all those women whom he has promoted to PSs ,or dink strong wisk in conventions or smorke the Ganga they used to smorke with his friend Kafupi at stae house in 90s.For sure the wages of sin is death. How ever no one should wish any one death .On this one HH is wright. Its up to God to judge Satan.HH should concentrate at campains He will surely win.iam positive that some of the critics are doing so because of there personal agendas of tribe but the majority Zambians will listen to you and make clear judgment to for you.
you don’t have to go by name “opposition” and oppose EVERYTHING the working govt is doing. Learn to give credit where due.
Michael chilufya should appoint HH as acting-president one day, just for a week.
In your dream mwana.
@Nostradamus
You congenital lying orphan. You lie without shame.
Quite refreshing to read profound truths from other Zambians that have concern about president Sata. This is certainly presidential address that touches every aspect of our nation. The view expressed by HH is what it takes for our national leaders to be able to scan through the entire nation and articulate what needs to be achieved and how to pursue such a strategic view. Very few party leaders purporting offer themselves for leading Zambia understand business economic view of a nation. Lastly I totally agree that PF has never initiated any development in Zambia. The reason is simple any project so far PF has boasted about has its roots to MMD. The honorable thing PF should have done is to claim completion of such projects than aggressively claiming as PF’s exclusively.
Good speech HH, Wakula mumano mukalamba wandi. Keep up the good faith…
HH if you think Luapula, Luapula will ever let you even win ONE seat there badaala you are really living in a fools paradise like your followers…beautiful Luapula will NEVER be under a UPND govt.
I surelly would have loved to see HH vice to Sata,i wish that pact stood
The man missed the golden opportunity to serve in government due to his pomposity
If u don’t lie & deceive, hw com u re claimg o rod projects ar mmd’s wen u kno mmd cam up wt formula 1 projects to try to tak the wind out of Sara’s sail wen they realisd pipo had warmed up to PF’s messag of linking the country workg on existg rods. Abt luapula there’s ored a sugar plantatn project PF is takg to the area which u deliberately want to downplay. Over the Durban/capetwn issue, y don’t u demonstrate on a smo scale of wat can becom of the area by investg there since u re a big business man? Overal learn to acknowledge the numerous strides th PF govt has scored so fa away from the rod infrastructure if u re to relevant & get yo messag 2 resonate wt Zambian pipo. If not u continue to lose by elections & only win in very weak PF areas where u use the issue of…
I think HH has articulated very well. If only Sata can do the same and have compassion for all Zambians regardless of any region then we will be heading somewhere. Currently I don’t see the PF followers tolerating all regions.
It has dawned on HH that he stands no chance to win a national election and hence this panic . Results of the September 2014 bye elections have showed that UPND is not a factor in Eastern province no wonder it got only 2%of total votes in Kasenengwa and 14 % in Vubwi. UPND must forget about 2016 and instead strategise for 2021 and 2026.
@dabwitso very wise and accurate analysis
HH is a hypocrite with his UPND who seem to be in a hurry to go to state house.I am happy he was stuck in water in Zambezi west,a punishment from God to show that the UPND spokes person kakoma was a non performer and no wonder people rejected him…..even 2016 he does not stand a chance.
The OGAH-OGAH GOD FORBIDE SONG is what we have in PF regime: Tribalism,Corruption,Nepotism,By-elections,Reshafles of ministers,Lies,Exccessive Reckless Borrowing,Cartels,Frauds,Abuse of Power,Mirraculous Aquitals of Thieves,…all sorts of evils!Surely the illiterate voters have failled us.Anyway the social-economic missfiring of PF has really harmmed everyone more especially the poorest of the poor-the morest gullible till they wake up from slumbler but very soon they will !watch the pace!
Back LT: don’t you have a pleasant picture of HH. He appears like somebody fearful, like a member of the ungodly!
Chitutuma, for sure I always wonder as to whether HH has rotten teeth or stinky breathe. I surely have never seen one picture of posing with a smile why? God knows. It may seem to him that, when he is serious on pictures and people will take him to be a serious leader. Lol. Nice try HH, just show us your dental formular. I remember sometime in 2010, when ba Mwine and RB joked as to who was more ugly, they all smiled we could see their teeth manje weo HH ufisanji?
Yes, Zambia needs to move from being an importing nation to an exporting nation, otherwise there is no future. Diversify the manufacturing base and provide incentives for that. Even biscuits have to come from SA and yet the country is self sufficient in Wheat!. Jobs are created through value addition to goods and services folks.
The guy hh is liying after finding that Sata is protected by The Lord Almighty God. Now hh is tied and the only thing he can do is to bless Sata and to repent of his sins, as hh has now declared he hae believed. I think its good for hh that he had repented. Next he should apologize to Sata for wishing him dead.
Well said HH your time will surely come keep up with the spirity. You are true son of our Zambian soils, hardworking a best example of success to the young generation. Viva HH , viva true Zambia spirit.
I don’t fancy thieves crooks who want to take advantage of the poor this thief doesn’t mean well for zambians he is hell bent
Heey bo HH it is too late coz all Zambians now know that you want Sata to die so you go to plot 1. Na musebane bane ba HH…..Zambians are so much perplexed at your insipid behavior towards Sata’s illness. You are really a disgrace to Mother Zambia. Shame on you HH.
Only a fool can believe that HH means well over Sata’s health!HH hates Sata so much hence God punishing him(HH) by losing elections forever!surely u can’t wish 1 death for the sake of plot 1!gladly many voters in Zambia love PF and have no time to vote for a party of haters(UPND)!I can’t see HH or Nevers Mumba defeating any PF presidential candidate in 2016 or even now.all of those voters who celebrated naked in 2011 over PF’s victory can’t just hate so soon and vote for PF’s enemies, its imposible!PF will win with easy in 2016 and mark the end of HH!
How I wish 2016 was tomorrow so that Lusaka,CB,Central,Luapula,Northern,Muchinga, and parts of Eastern,Western,North Western voters can teach HH a lesson by voting in large numbers for PF!the good news is that even in his Southern province PF will still come out second!so I fail to understand why HH dream that he can win elections now or in 2016,hey HH is a dreamer badala!
I agree with your analysis man, HH is not only having dream but he is having WET DREAMS.
HH’s message is visionally and takes in account the geographical realities about Zambai our country. With good leaders like HH luapula and other provinces can develop very fast.HH says that is wise to create projects that will help generate income, hence more tax and its from such tax that we can build these Roads, Dams ,Air ports and so on without borrowing from sylocks.I know that well meaning Zambia with good birthright will accept HH.The tribalists and those benefiting from Road deals and belonging to tribal forest in high offices will not like him. They look at him a serous threat, hence they want to potray that he is not a factor in Zambian politics.
Surely, are we Zambians lacking in analytical thinking to such an extent that this thing called HH openly proclaims his tribal sentiments? At Chikupili, he asked for a vote coz his wife hails from central; they rejected him. Now he wishes to court Luapula coz of aunt, bupuubba!! He says ‘smuggling maize, has he not heard that the regional market is open? So shallow is this old boy but his goons bena kulaimyafye ifiputti supporting amalabashi of a thing called ha-hi!
It bother my mind to see people who still believe PF can change matters in zambia.Pf is a failed project:
*1.agriculture is dead
*2.mines are full of corruption
*3.education is in trouble with nepotism
*4.tourism is gone
*5.roads are in massive debts with kaloba
*6.hospital have no drugs
*7.manufacturing which should have assisted to employ graduates is in shumbles
Is this the gavernment we wanted all God help mother zambia.
Iwe kaMuna, ububiii mumano. Get yo head out of ichiputi cakwa hh & look around!! How do failed agric policies produce bumper harvests? How does a colapsed educational system bring about more schools & increased funding? How does a dead manufacturing industry revive Nitrogen chemicals? Yes, roads have been built with borrowed money but tolling will raise money mwefisushi imwe. Don’t just repeat what that thing called hh feeds you!!!
@kakolwe. It is not what you produce which matters, but how close you are to producing according to your potential. Imagine if agriculture was handled properly, how big would have been the bumper harvest-maybe 1.5, 2 times more. This is the real issue. Are we achieving 30, 50,90 percent of the potential?
HH is lying already by telling people that the road projects PF is doing are MMD’s . We all know that MMD was doing these roads to campaign for re-election in 2011 and was bound to abandon them immediately. MMD still boost of having left billions of dollars in reserves whilst the Country is in need of roads, hospitals and schools, surely how do you keep money , reserving money in a bank whilst the family is starving?. Isn’t that stupid economics?. About borrowing , its good to do so as long as you put the money to good use, in short Borrow for the right reasons!. For this Country to develop, you need to open it up , and you can only do that by building roads, otherwise areas like Vubwi ,Feira wont be accessible.
There should be a clause in our Constitution where any one intending to be President must sign a Contract with the people that he will do what he is promising and if he fails he should stand down.
HH IS TELLING THE TRUTH,ALL THE PROJECTS BEING DONE BY PF WERE INITIATED BY MMD,UNLESS YOU ARE TOO DUMB TO KNOW THAT FACT. EVEN THE MOBILE HOSPITAL WHICH WAS HEAVILY CRITICISED BY PF MINIONS IS SIMPLY DOING FINE.
HH, please don’t ever include my province, Luapula in your plans, lest you initiate us. It would be a miracle for you HH to win the hearts of us from Fort Roseberry because we know you better than your fellow cow herders. You are wasting your time boi, ifwe we are not damn like you.
@diva
That’s the problem with poverty,it even affect your thinking capacities .poverty makes someone think that anyone who is rich acquired their riches through witchcraft, masonism and other evil ways. Leave hh alone he worked hard for what he has.we know you people in that are tribalistic you can’t vote for another tribe but yours. Shame on you and your tribalism
