Vice President Guy Scott says any suggestion for President Michael Sata to step down on health grounds is not under consideration.

Responding to a question by Sesheke Member of Parliament Siyauya Sianga during the Vice President’s question time who wanted to find out if government would consider retiring President Michael Sata on health grounds now that he has qualified for a full presidential retirement package, Dr Scott said he found such a suggestion offensive.

Dr Scott said that even if it were in a hypothetical universe to consider retiring anybody it would not be on the basis that he/she had completed so many years.

The Vice President says as far as he is concerned President Sata is well. And Dr Scott says he is not worried about being removed from his position of Republican Vice President. He wondered what is there to worry about even if he had to lose the position.

Dr Scott was responding to a question by MMD Chembe Member of Parliament Mwansa Mbulakulima who wanted to know whether he was worried about being removed from his position and how sweet the position is.

President Sata made a stir at the annual UN general assembly in New York last month when he failed to turn up for his speech this year.New York police reports suggested the President was treated in his hotel room however the Zambian government denied this.

  1. Even me i can’t resign but what does the Law say? LAZ is ziii so what can we do coz the position has a lot of powers… Natulolelefye bane

    • why should the President resign?

HE Sata is working and fulfilling his job description as provided under the constitution and as mandated by the Zambian people. The country keeps moving forward under his able leadership.

      Thats what matters

    • Let everyone learn from Sata,,, dont langh at people who are sick with diarrihoea, because you may end up with cholera or ebola yourself,,,,,and God forbid, dont rejoice when others die so that you become president,,,

    • The old fossil wants to die in power. Thats all. I have come to hate Gay Scrotum with a passion. The fcuking white sh!it is just too stubborn and arrogant. He should realise that his position of vice-president is at the mercy of the sick and dying Sata. Once Sata checks out, Gay Scrotum will be history. Stup!d white man. A white man is NEVER a friend of a black man. History has proved this.

    • @Ndobo, please stop talking about Sata’s past. The man is reformed and repented.
Have you noticed how HUMBLE he has become after the May-August illness?
Yes people learn from this living example Sata.

    • If it is ever proved the President does not go to at least 2021 I promise and swear I will quit LT for good since my early contribution in 2007, I will finally say au revoir.

That is how confident I am that MCS is just fine, this is just unwarranted news

      Thanks

    • Folks

I have always said the reason why PF and Sata decided to take RDA to state house is enrich themselves through corrupt road contract deals.

PF prides itself in construction projects because they know thats where they cam steal massively. Other sectors of the economy have been neglected because PF and Sata can not steal enough money to match HH.

Evidence has started coming out in bits from the insider Mmembe about how ABC is under pressure to fight corruption at RDA.(today’s post).

Any understanding built on lies and deception does not last long. This false relationship between Mmembe and PF is fast crumbling before our eyes.

To some of us its good news to hear PF and Mmembe at each other ‘s throat.

Wapya munzi. We need more please!

    • The only fun thing @Wanzelu has contributed to this site is his saying, ‘Wapya Munzi!’ Always brings a smile to the face.

Unfortunately, the rest of the time he is his usual maleficent self. Spreading sedition with a shovel, dig, dig, dig like a little kazembe truck. He neeeeever gets tired of that motion, downward and upward to where……?

So, if as you say, President Sata’s ambition in power is to steal some and then again! As you say, HH is so loaded, what then motivates him to Plot no.1? Don’t say he has benefactor-ish intentions, because next time the Munzi Wapyas, we will throw you into the flames and send HH in as fireman to get you out! Your Hero!

    • The Sata puzzle will take time to unfold, it will. This man carries something and he has been on a mission. He wants to achieve it, he will. He is better placed to, he will. Whether the other passengers on his pabwato are with him remains to be seen. He is steering the boat in some direction, his own direction, the Sata direction. Why did he miss UN, he thinks there’re unfair practices there & he was rebelling alone right there in NY. AM SLOWLY CHANGING MY OPINION ABOUT THIS MAN. None is better placed to run this country than him at the moment. He is not doing it for money he is safeguarding the country. It takes long to understand a great man. Thought hard and fast to appreciated where the boat is going and am beginning to see. Rants are no more necessary. GO MR PRESIDENT YOU CAN…

  2. Its only great leaders like the late Nelson Mandela who would be bold enough to refuse to cling to power even when health if clearly failing.Since Sata does not fall under that category we do not expect him to step down and would be pleasantly shocked if he did.

    • The problem is that PF has no other capable presidential candidates. And Sata has designed the party that way.
But I told him that people won’t protest if he gave presidency to Mrs. Inonge Wina.

  3. It’s questions from the likes of Mwansa Mbulakulima that make my blood boil! There are so many important developmental issues in his own constituency that need to be urgently addressed and all the chap is interested in is whether Scott is worried about his position and how sweet the position is. Maybe I am missing something here. Maybe MPs not allowed to ask questions that affect their constituents during Vice President’s question time. I really hope the new Constitution will empower the electorate to recall their non performing MPs.

    • Yip. I suppose parliament has had to lower the bar to keep the MPs awake. This is why you have laws from the 19th Century persisting. But then again the representative is largely a mirror of the constituency that voted for him or her. The calibre in Zambian elected office has never failed to depress.

    • A disgrace of the highest order indeed. Mbulakulima wecipumbuwe,!! If Scot is worried, how is that going to affect the dull voters of Chembe Constituency? While your colleagues are showing concern for their people, you are busy asking puerile questions!! Kukanwa ububii!! Am sure you know that this was your last election win!!

  4. The one thing I like about Sata ‘ s newly found health position is that at least we have been spared his comedy and talking down to us like we are his children.I also like Kabimba’s firing for the same reason.

    • Kakolwe you are insulting Mbula kulima because you are disappointed because a wise Bemba asked about sata lol .kakolwe the Kolwestan from ituli forest.

  5. For sure we dont want him to resign for this ALREADY FINISHED TERM BUT we want him to stand down in the next election-2016.
By-Elections are costly we cant have them ths time around.

Let him rest by 2016. Sata will be 80yrs Old and I believ by then he would ve COMPLETELY finished.

  6. Of course he can’t and won’t resign, it’s not in his constitution to do honorable things like that. He can be fired if the responsible minions have the necessary balls and can muster enough courage. He has been sleeping on the job and his performance has been shoddy.

  7. @ndombo based on the recent comments on his execellency u seem nt to have leant that lesson yourself. U have really made fan of yo president, my president, with a lot of pride. I hope u also knw that ur nt alien from mars; ur flesh and blood

  8. Of course a greedy man can’t resign as he has not stolen enough yet to fund his exile when funding his ICC court cases.

  9. Looking in retrospective of what has happened to our past and present leaders implies that our own laws are ineffective in guiding our selves for self governing.
Our failure to honour our own laws in this democratic era can only be described as self colonizing. Guy Scott underpins this import of failure to disclose the health status of a sitting president where questions have been raised not only in Zambia but known world wide. Asserting Mr Sata can never resign on account of senility is consenting to failure to honour our own laws on presidential status. One day Zambia will be ruled by a mentally sick president our own laws will not protect Zambia from such a nutter.

    • @Aquilla,
I wonder why we always ignore this fact and that is society flourishes when guided by persons who always put this principle first of ‘doing what is right
and at the right time’. Laws are therefore secondary and merely assist in implementation. What is ‘right’ is deep rooted and defines your civilisation.

The mindset of most people in our set up is that ‘laws will solve the problem’ when in actual fact the same laws are disregarded and abused with impunity!

In short, you do not need good laws to have an effective society but ‘good men’. Integrity and doing what is right are more important.

    • Stop yapping and give reasonable examples iwe … who would vote in a retard as president. Dont insult the whole nation based on malice and unfounded allegations. should pipo be resigning every time they fall sick? are you people human? A sick leave is what normal and noble Zambians should be recommending, not this nonsense!!!

    • Mushota we shall start with yours. We shall re-open Lennox Castle Mental Hospital just for you.

      You are welcome!

    • There is no proof the president is mentally incapacitated in any shape or form Clueless

These are just rumors and let me ask you to never believe in rumors if you want to be perceived as great in any form of life

      Thanjs

    • It pains me to see our president in the state he is at the moment. Sir you have played a big part in Zambian politics, please think of your health . I know, no one can tell you or advise you to resign because PF is your farm.

  10. MEMBE – BITTER
The firing of Wynter Kabimba as minister of Justice and Secretary General of the Patriotic Front PF has angered his friend and self anointed partner in arrogance Membe. From the day Wynter Kabimba was dismissed, Membe has been writing a lot of rubbish in his tool of propaganda the post newspaper. Membe in his own stupid wisdom and shallow thinking has classified the firing of his friend as the work of the corrupt and tribalist in PF. But if I may to ask? Who are the corrupt people he has been referring to who contributed to the down fall of his friend Kabimba? Who are these corrupt people Membe is fearing to mention in his stupid editorial comments? In fact Membe is to brame for Kabimba’s dismissal. WHY? Bacause Membe wanted to use Kabimba cover the DBZ K14 billion and…

  11. zambians lets not vote those pipo again. why shud we keep on waisting our money on pipo who go to parliament debating pesonalities. Govt is not like UPND it works even when sata is not there

  12. @ grand mopao u really hav a nice name bt wat is in that thick skull of urs is really saddenin,so wat if dr scott is white? He is jus a human being lyk u and kud even b mor zambian than u(goin by dat name u call urself) racism is a thing of the past and we shud learn to co-exist regardless of one’s color, remember wen u die ur punk ass will b put 6 ft under regardless of ur color

  13. With all the foregoings-its crystal clear that our president will not reseign on health grounds .Considering his falling health-Its imperative to check our egos and remember that everyone of us is sick and will die at an appointed time for we didn’t create ourselves!Since Sata is still able to discharge his duties, though ineffectively and considering the time that has remained on his era,It’s only right that he finishes his term.We know already that our president has been the most tribal, incompetent, lair, ruthless, cluiless, uneducated, corrupt and …Let’s just blance ourselves for the last battle;PF vs The people of Zambia in 2016 September.

  14. Sata will not resign because he will be dead within one month of leaving State House. His sickness is such that he needs intensive medical care which can only be provided to a sitting president.

  15. …yes Scot is right…why should he resign on health grounds when we are told that he is well and fit…..??….instead, he can resign on moral grounds if he has to…he gets full remunerations as a head of state but does he put in as much…..??

  16. @Okoh…,No personalities are being discussed in parely and if you follow the article above this concern came from MMD’s MPs not From UPND!Try to use your grey matter when reading not your Tribe. Moreover, the MPs do not take development to their respective constituences, they only lobby or rather speak for their people. Its solely the duty of the executives/government to take development to all constituences regardless of the Area MP’s Political Affiliation. It is just a very irresponsible uncivilised government like PF which takes all unapproved projects to BEMBA LAND regardless of considering taxation or revenue contributions from other provinces.

  17. It goes without saying. Now maybe the opposition can find some real issues to campaign instead of hoping for technical knockout

    • Should Mr. Sata stand in 2016, it should be a TKO against PF. He is no longer the King Cobra voters were once fascinated by.

  18. And this is the caliber of MPs we have. Nothing constructive to debate about. if you check, his constituency doesnt have decent housing, sanitaion and whatever but has the guts to just dwell on this issue . . . aweh mwandi

  19. sata is the best president in Africa. He is constantly working, chairing meetings, receiving diplomats and such. He will go Down in history has one of the best leaders the world has ever seen. His speeches inspire both the young and old.

  20. mcs cant resign cos he has committed alot of mistakes and if elections are held today and pf loses then sata and his cabinet and those in foreign mission can be in shit better die on duty as for muzungu a pusa i think its clear that he is a misplaced seed in those monkeys ifeel pit for him

  21. civilised do not be cheated my dear pipo voted those mps becoz they promised development. futher Mps are found in one of the organs of govt. lastly lets work on our ability to resoect others.

  22. Where is Sata? The government appears ungovernable from the way thins are going at the moment. It is free for all. Look at the Shamenda – Dangote saga, Shamenda is a liar and must have been bribed by his Indian friend to go and start framing Dangote so that he (the Indian) friend can take over the new cement factory. This issue needs addressing by the Head of State. Shamenda’s behavior in all this has embarrassed the government and brought the GRZ into disrepute. We will be scaring away potential investors if we start behaving like Shamenda. Therefore, Sata needs to prevail here, Shamenda has to be FIRED forthwith, period and immediately.
Lots of other issues Sata needs to address. Needs a massive cabinet reshuffle NOW.

  23. Its shocking that some Zambians have taken what has happened in Zambia as a norm in governance. The nation has set itself the standard and quality of leaders to rule in our nation. Zambians be warned the in coming government will not be answerable to the nation, development will be on conditional and will be a laize faire governance. This will spell the end of democracy in Zambia, welcome Somali.

  24. Oh just let this nonsense on President Sata’s health go. It’s boring.

    1. Elections in a year or so, you get to vote your choice and hope he/she wins
    2. We are all sick and tired of byes.
    3. Sata’s clearly okay, walks, talks, jokes
    4. The advantage of his changed personality is that he no longer talks a lot …..just as you wished earlier in his Presidency. You’ve go him to shut up a bit and he has. Now look who is crying!!

Just Chill and enjoy the prep and coming of Jubilee celebs. Drink Eat and Be Merry!! Go out and multiply.

  25. If Sata was working he would by now have effected a major cabinet reshuffle where the following would have happened:
Fire George Chellah, and replace him with a more mature aide.
Appoint new VP, who can act as Presido if and when Sata is away.
Still keep Guy Scott in government as a senior cabinet minister.
Reassign DPP, speaker of national assembly to other depts.
Completely divorce PF from the POST, because the POST will be the cause on PF downfall in the next elections and the POST has already started working on that since the downfall of their stupid Kabimba.
The PF-POST relationship has to come to an end now, (timely warning).

    • Agreed. Except keep Chellah, good kid and not enough youngsters in government. Scott, send to Russia or Mongolia as Ambassador rep. Veep, Luo, she’ll shake things up and she is awfully good at working with old traditions and relics!

  26. People please correct me if i am wrong. The new description of a vice president or acting president in Zambia is ‘Chola boy’. Can the mps really get good a position of such description. That how the white man views these positions and can answer in anyway.

  27. A Mutale Chitapangwa.
Mulekwatako amano, your own is unadvisable (Chumbu), more over, you have demonstrated to provide bad leadership based on deception, who will believe you in Zambia?. Your own is even under self delusion to recognize Chiti Mukulu, what a shame!. Zambians will eventually accord Chiti his rightful status on your behalf to make your own Chumbu look like a fool.

  28. Guy Scott’s confirmation that Sata cannot resign on health grounds speaks volumes on the genetic make of the PF leadership. It is along these genetic flow lines that PF cannot force a convicted criminal such as Masumba to vacate his Parliamentary Seat. They have no genes for upright morals.

In as far as PF members are concerned, politics is big business to fraudulently earn their living at the expense of real development in this country. Mmembe and Mutembo Nchito are also comfortably thriving on this PF’s political mess.

  29. WE NEED TO KNOW EXACTLY THE ILLNESS THAT HAS BEEN DEBILITATING THE KING COBRA AND THAT WILL DETERMINE WHETHER TO ADVISE HIM TO STEP DOWN OR REMAIN IN OFFICE.

  30. Even me from Zimbabwe just from looking at the picture above, can tell that this man Sata is sick. His facial look tells it all. The problem with african leaders is once they get into power they do not want leave and they think there are immortal, they think the country cannot move forward without them, that is the situation we have in Zimbabwe, being led by a near 91 year old man, Mugabe. Look at what Kamuzu Banda of Malawi did, and these old man can’t take a lesson from that. Where is Kamuzu Banda? Hes dead. Where is Malawi? Its there. So…….
