Chavuma gets K900,000 for school infrastructure upgrade

GOVERNMENT has released K900,000 for upgrading school infrastructure in Chavuma, district commissioner Lawrence Kayumba has said.

Mr Kayumba said in an interview yesterday that the funds were released last week.

He said the funds are meant for the construction of a classroom block and two staff houses at Moses Luneta and Nyantanda Day secondary schools.

He said works on both projects will start soon because Government has already awarded the contracts to the preferred bidders.

“Currently what is happening is that the contractors are mobilising because we just received this money last week although it could have come much earlier. These schools were just upgraded into secondary schools, hence we felt the need to improve on the infrastructure,” Mr Kayumba said.

And Mr Kayumba said construction works at Chavuma Boarding Secondary School have reached 98 percent.

Government has built the first ever boarding secondary school in Chavuma at a cost of K27 million.

He said major works have been completed and Chavuma Boarding Secondary School will soon be opened once the sewer system is laid and electricity is connected.

  1. Thanks very much to the government but let’s hope it is not because of the campaigns. When did Nyatanda become a secondary school good to hear that!

    • It is because of the by-election otherwise this would not have happened. It is a well known fact that NW province is not on the radar of the PF regime. Milupi is right when he states that North-Western, Southern and Western Provinces must work hand in hand and elect a president who will attend to their plight as opposed to the select development agenda of PF. PF is only interested in developing certain regions.

  2. Ba Kaluvale say thank you for what was started by MMD. Get it and the power is in your vote. Vote wisely, put PF outside and drop it into the dust bin.
