Fuel Supply to normalise soon-Government

Share

Over 200 fuel tankers which were marrooned at Tunduma in Tanzania have started moving into Zambia as seen in the picture

GOVERNMENT has announced that the shortage and panic-buying of fuel
experienced in Lusaka in the past week is expected to normalise soon.

Energy Minister Christopher Yaluma confirmed that there was a
tremendous improvement of supply from TAZAMA and a good flow to the
Lusaka retailers such that the shortages were expected to end.
“From the reports I am getting we have increased fuel stokes by more
than double which should give especially Lusaka motorist comfort,” he
said.

However, yesterday a check at Total Filling station in Kamwala on
Saturday revealed massive fuel panic- buying with some security
personnel at the station engaging in mini bribes with those who wanted
to get fuel though them in containers thereby beating the queue and
buying more

This is despite Mr Yaluma’s assurance last week that the nation had
sufficient fuel reserves and urged motorists not to engage in
panic-buying of the commodity.

By yesterday, only few countable filling stations in the capital city
had the commodity with less queues; a situation that could be
attributed to the day being a Sunday and less busy and people having
bought enough the previous day.

Should the supply of the commodity remain low long queues are
anticipated today though some motorists especially bus drivers said
they had secured enough fuel in containers and kept in their homes to
see them through for some time and mileage.

James Mwansa a bus driver said it was tricky to conclude that the fuel
blues had come to an end on a Sunday when most motorists had packed
their vehicles at home.

A number of filling stations yesterday had the much wanted petrol,
with less queues though in the nearby town of Kafue, the commodity
crisis had been reported.

Other towns that have reported fuel shortages include, Kasama in
Northern province and the tourist capital Livingstone.

  1. How can it normalize soon when according to the minister of Energy, “there is no shortage and everything is normal”

    • CORRUPTION, CORRUPTION,CORRUPTION,CORRUPTION IN ZAMBIA. ZAMBIA WILL NOT STOP TO AMUSE ME. THEY CREATE AN ARTIFICIAL SHORTAGE SO AS TO CREATE A MEANS FOR LOOTING. THESE PF GUYS ARE ALL CRIMINALS. THEY ARE STEALING FROM OUR NATIONAL TREASURY DAILY. CRY MY BELOVED ZAMBIA. YOU STILL DANCE TO THE TUNE OF CRIMINALS WHO ARE IMPOSING THEMSELVES TO RULE US SO THAT THEY CAN HAVE CONTINUOUS ACCESS TO LOOTING. CRIMINALS!

  2. The shortage was due to the narrowing of the Tazama pipeline. Now issue has since been sorted out and by today the situation will be normalised.

  3. AAH! ZAMBIA! DO WE REALLY HAVE PLANNERS IN ZAMBIA, OR THINGS RUN JUST BY THEMSELVES? ZAMBIA AT MOST IS A LAUGHING STOKE. WHY WE CAN’T BUY CRUDE OIL FROM ANGOLA BEGGARS BELIEF. DO WE REALLY HAVE THINK TANKS IN ZAMBIA OR EAT TANKS? IS ZAMBIA ALWAYS ON AUTO-PILOT? WHY CAN’T ZAMBIA HAVE ANOTHER REFINERY INVOLVING CRUDE OIL AND NOT SEMI-PROCESSED OIL IN NORTHWESTERN OR WESTERN PROVINCE WITH SUPPLIES FROM ANGOLA TO SUPPLY THE WESTERN PART OF ZAMBIA AND MANUFACTURE NUMEROUS BY-PRODUCTS SUCH AS PLASTIC ITEMS (underground water and gas pipes, seats for buses, bags, window frames, and many millions of items) AND END SHORTAGES? ARE OUR SO CALLED THINKERS SUCH *****IC?

  4. Middlemen are like little demons . Why can’t we sub sahaha nations boost up Angola n stop depending on middle east!!!

  5. If Lungu is a serious good leader, he would have Sacked Yaluma for Gross Incompetence, similar to Ex President Mwanawasa. who sacked a useless energy minister for similar fuel shortages.
    However this won’t happen as
    1. E.C.L, sees nothing wrong with mediocrity / Shortages, just go to Chawama, where he’s been M.P, & see the mess the place is in, or
    2. Hes getting a Kickback from the Corrupt dealing that’s caused the problem in the first place.

  6. Sad levels of ineptitude from the honorable Minister.

He appears to be clueless when he is actually the main stakeholder in the supply chain of this commodity
