Govt applies programmes to reduce gender imbalance

Government has applied programmes in the national planning that will reduce gender imbalance.

Western Province Minister Adonis Mufalali said this is in order to promote equal partnership between Women and Men.

Mr. Mufalali said that women need to take advantage and complement Government policies that have been put in place for them.

He also pointed that NGOs need to mainstream their programmes that are going to ensure men’s involvement.

The minister said this in a speech read on his behalf by Western Province Deputy Permanent Secretary Phanuel Chibala during the International Women’s Day Commemoration yesterday.

  1. This focus on gender issues is very welcome. I hope it is not just addressed shortly before the elections but also after 2011. Let it be a continuos development.

  2. Nomba what programs have they put in place for us the women. First of all women need equal education opportunities that will put the in almost the same thinking levels as men…thats the first gender imbalance that i feel should be addressed first. After empowering women with education, then they can think rationally.
