Former Kabwe Warriors midfielder Siloni Jere will not be part of Zesco United’s training camp in Tanzania because he has no passport.

Zesco are using the outing to prepare for this monthend’s African Champions League preliminary round match against Mathare United of Kenya.

Jere, whose six months loan to Roan United expired, has switched to Zesco and was scheduled to join the Super Division champions in Tanzania on the nine-days training camp.

Zesco secretary, Justin Mumba, confirmed in Ndola  that Jere would not join the squad leaving for Tanzania  because he does not have a passport.

Jere is not the only victim as Liberian striker Ben Martins has also been knocked out as the club failed to secure a visa.

“Ben Martins’ visa was not ready…Siloni has no passport,” Mumba said.

And Zambia National Service (ZNS) are yet to clear midfielder Kebby Hachipuka and striker Aubrey Zulu to join Zesco. They have been left out of the trip to Tanzania.

“As you may be aware, Kebby and Aubrey are with the military and have not been cleared by their employers. There is a process to be taken for the players to leave a military club.

Mumba also said Democratic Republic of Congo goalkeeper, Chansa Kabwe has also been left out due to late coming.

Mumba said Lusaka Dynamos’ international midfielder Willian Njobvu has expressed interest in joining Zesco.

Hichani Himoonde and Josephat Nkhoma, both of Dynamos, are already at Zesco and are among the 37-member contingent travelling to Tanzania.

“For Hichani and Josephat, we have concluded negotiations…as for William, he has expressed interest and we’ll talk to Dynamos,” he said.

Zesco will be in Tanzania and are scheduled play Simba SC in the first match on Thursday and will at the weekend take on either Tanzania Prisons or Morogoro United.

The Zambian champions would next week play a select side – Azima while Young African encounter is not yet confirmed.

Zesco were scheduled to leave today aboard a Kenya Airways flight.

“This trip is fully-funded by the club from the money earned from cup competitions, the league and replica sales,” he said.

Apart from retaining the league title which carries a K100 million prize, Zesco also pocketed K125 million from the Barclays Cup and also earned K80 million for the second place finish in the BP Top Eight.

The squad:
Goalkeepers: Jacob Banda, Charles Chisha
Defenders: Rodgers Kamwandi, Nyambe Mulenga, Kabamba Chalwe, Kunda Mushota, Douglas Muwowo, Hichani Himoonde, William Chinyama Leonard Silungwe.

  1. This is misery !! Are you sure you can not organise a Passport with 12 Hours? With a good Tip to the Passport Office then all will be fine!! I can not even tell my German friends this story!! They will laugh.. Imwe do something instead of emberrasing the whole Nation!!

  2. **==

the coach could have organised for him.
zambia army when going for opperations out of the country, passports are issued same day,coz its national duty but why not jere???

  3. Honestly how can on live without a valid passport when he or she knows that abroad travels are inevitable.Negligence of some kind or for lack of a better term indiscipline

  4. What a pity. What I know is soccer players get their paper much faster than us. Reminds me again Nchanga Rangers have been saved by FAZ yet again by docking Chambishi FC.points. Chambishi must have connived with FAZ and Nchanga. In 1995 they used Roan to accuse Kalulushi Modern Stars of some funny cases. Ironically Simaata Simaata was FAZ chairman. Now he is crying for Lusaka Dynamos. Too bad for Zambian Football. We will not go any where by proping up useless teams like Nchanga(am a Nchanga man- my father is a founder player of Nchanga)

  5. I call upon all metal products of all generations to donate some funds towards this.

He said the school had sunk five boreholes but did not have hand pumps and other accessories for the boreholes to become operational.

Kakumbi said Chizongwe Technical High School was not connected to Eastern Water and Sewerage Company.

He also said the school was in need of funds to rehabilitate the school hall, which he said was in a dilapidated state.

Kakumbi further urged former pupils to help address the problems the school was facing.

“We need help from well-wishers, former Chizongwe pupils and the government to urgently address these problems,” Kakumbi said.

  6. Baby C!! How are you today!! This passport Issue making me feel very low!! I can not even Travel after February shuwa?

I will call ba Embassy kuno and see what they say… going there is also costly. :o:o:o:o

  7. #13, when I say connexions of course it comes with money. Of course connexions with less money if you are well connected, but you pay through your nose (get exploited) if you are not.

  8. What a shame on the FAZ displinary committee. How can the committee dock Two points from Chambishi FC and award them to Nchanga Rangers alone. Now Nkana Football Club are also claiming to be awarded the Three points from Chambishi FC and next it will be this and that team. Surely when the committe sat, it should have taken such issues in mind knowing that Chambishi had not played Rangers alone, in the just ended 2008 Super League.

We read from one of the papers that Nkana FC were the first to lodge a complaint to the FAZ over the use of the two players in question but no action was taken and were consquently demoted to the lower ranks together with Rangers. Please FAZ sort out this mess.

  9. Jamaco..

how are you today.ala nkani yama passport yatifaka penangu mwe,i dont even know where to start from.but you know jere should just give someone a nice package it will be done within 48hours,he is too slow, has he forgotten that ubwali bambusa bwakulya abachenjele.he should wake up and do what the others do.if you cant beat c…..tion ha ha ha join in.

  10. corruption is stinking in Faz because it is being managed by people who are not qualified managers they dont follow any ethics of any professional body.Let them give nkana points as well.some managers in faz are mere grade 12 with just o levels not even a full certificate.

  11. The problem is that some of the people in these teams dont even deserve to be there coz people i tell you if somweone has worked hard for something then they would obviously fight and have everything in place.he tells me he never thought he would play soccer outside zambia.he is still thinking in the box.he has to learn to think beyond… hope he learns his lesson.

  12. Silon Jere should not act like an infancy. If my memory is right Jere is one of the veteran players, who have tested the National team both at under twenty and under twent three. He also played in Zamsure when the team represented Zambia in CAF championship. He has been home and abroad, sure is he telling people that he had been travelling without passport in all national duties,or he never new that the passport has expaired.

  13. Siloni Jere’s case is another testmony in that the executive Zesco United should have arranged the passport, knowing that they will be playing in the Continental Cup this year. They are not ashamed of themselves by mentioning it to the public. Some of these players are kids and need guindance in some of these senstive issues hence the need for the executive at Zesco United to assist Siloni and the other guy from Liberia.

  14. Hi Guys,

Those of you suggesting that he buys lunch for the passport officer, i say, no, it is wrong. If the guy is going an an important duty. He should have all the travel documents ready. unless he is not serious.
We are trying to stop corruption. Mwa nvela , You will be jailed is that how you operate.

Nhsima boy is waht he is.

  18. jere had a passport obtained for him when he moved from profund warriors in 2003 to join prison leopards, he just careless and we should not be told of his missery. it is a lesson that other should learn from, keep your documents well.

  19. ZESCO UTD DREW 1-1 AGAINST THE TANZANIAN CLUB ON THURSDAY. A GOAL COURTESY OF A YOUNG PLAYER FROM ZAMTEL IN THE DYING MINUTES.
