Alliance for Democracy and Development (ADD) president, Charles Milupi has observed that the MMD government is too mesmerized by anyone called a foreign investor so much that indigenous people are becoming second class citizens in their own country.
[pullquote]”Zambians are being made to suffer because their government has been made to surrender to the investors,” Mr . Milupi said[/pullquote]
Mr. Milupi said this is evident by the failure by the government to condemn the Chinese mine owners who shot at 11 miners in Sinazeze who were protesting over improved working conditions.

ADD president noted that the shooting at Collum coal mine is a clear tragedy and an indication that government has given too much priority to the foreign investor above their own people.

He said government has made foreign investors feel that they are kings in this country and weigh above the Zambians who are hosting them.

Mr. Milupi further blamed government for the failure by the foreign investors to respect the laws of this country.

He said it is for this reason that the government could not lift a finger against the investors no matter how serious what they have done is.

“Zambians are being made to suffer because their government has been made to surrender to the investors,” Mr . Milupi said

  1. its love of money, a man who was just a nobody at a village farm but was called to a high position such as this one, what do you expect of him? as long as these guys are giving them brown envelop they can’t comment. am sure even George Kunda will not even talk about it while in china. mind you that story is cooking very well in new york times more than zambia daily mail and times of zambia because it coincided with the rescuing of the 33 miners from Chile. while the world felt that they succeeded to rescue the 33, in Zambian miners a being shot at and no comment from government top officials. pathetic

  2. How do you expect to have an effective govt that takes care of its people when the president is perpetually out of the country?
RB’s govt does not value human life at all, hence the absolute need to have a change og govt next year. If Zambians miss this chance they will have themselves to blame…..float or perish? its up to the Zedian voter

  3. IN ZAMBIA WELL BEING OF THE ZAMBIANS DOES NOT MATTER ANYTHING TO THE M.M.D.GOVT, AS LONG THE AS THE USD DOLLARS IS COMING FROM THE INVESTERS THATS MATTERS THE MOST. IF 100 MORE WORKERS ARE GOING TO BE SHOT AGAIN TOMORROW BY THE SAME CHINAMAN NO BODY IS GOING TO BE ARRESTED, ONE CAN BE SURELY BE ASSURED OF WHAT I AM SAYING. .ZAMBIAN LIVES ARE NOW WEIGHED IN US DOLLARS JUST LIKE VEGITABLES OR FISH IN THE MARKETS.

  4. MMD thinks that the word investor is synonymous to foreigner. I once attented a meeting at the then high commissioner’s office bo Dr Inonge.I introduced myself as a zambian who wanted to invest in Zambia.Eish, the look a got.I have ended up investing in beautiful Botswana.

  5. Fellow Zambians we’re looked at as sub-human beings by the Chinemen
Let’s face it their working culture is bad They are doing the same thing in Africa where they have invested
Their payments are horrible Its almost slavery

  6. Even the windfall tax is being paid by these miners; except not directly to the Treasury, but indirectly to MMD. Thats why they are so sturbon, they know they give MMD all the “TAX”

  7. yOU DONT HAVE A GONVT IN ZAMBIA. WHAT YOU HAVE ARE ZOMBIES READY FEEDING ON THE BLOOD OF ZAMBIANS.

THEIR DESIRE IS TO FILL THEIR POCKETS AO THAT THEIR WIVES AND CHILDREN ENJOY THE TAX PAYER’S MONEY.

ZAMBIANS 2011 IS THE YEAR GOD HAS GIVEN US TO FREE OURSELVES FROM THESE VAMPIRES-mmd.

  8. True Milupi, but your problem instead of joing an already existing strong political eg UPND. You formed your ka small something and now dividing voters. Poor judgement BaMilupi, all maybe selfishnes. How will you manage to change the course of the Country in your fragmented numbers. You are simply adding poverty to Zambia. You Zambian chaps what is the problem with your thinking.Could it be selfishness or maybe we could be overrating your abilities and yet you all dull. You fail to make simple sound judgement for the benefit of the country. With this attitude i can assure you all, that you will untill, die in your small boxes called “political parties” while “MMD” the movement for mad dealers will continue ruling Zambia.Wer may not know maybe kafupi gave you some dollar bills to take…

  9. away the lozi votes from the pact and give Rupiah mubwezeni kumunzi banda ak “vasco dabanda the ever flying eagle” a chance to win in 2011.

  10. How do we get mis treated by a china man in our own country. Please Zambians, lets be serious, if this is the desperation for invesment, let them take the investment away. We do not need it. We well continue growing our maize.

    My heart bleeds!!

  11. WHAT BO MILUPI IS SAYING IS THE TRUTH, THE ZAMBIAN LEADERSHIP, IS SO SCARED OF THE WORD INVESTOR, WILL EVERYTHING NOT TO PISS OFF THE MONEY MAN. THE LEADERSHIP HAVE A COMPLEX. INSTEAD OF THEM CARING ABOUT THE WELFARE OF THE WORKERS THEY ARE MORE CONCERNED ABOUT THE INVESTORS WHO JUST COME TO REAP WHAT THE NEVER SOWED, BY WAY OF USING ZAMBIAN CHEAP LABOUR WITH NO RESPECT FOR HUMAN DIGNITY.
BUT AGAIN, WE CRY FOR CHANGE, BUT THERE SEEMS TO BE NO SENSIBLE PARTY THAT CAN UNSIT THE MMD. PACT WOULD HAVE WORKED, BUT AGAIN, GREED & PRIDE HAS COMPROMISED THE WORKINGS OF THE PACT. BO MILUPI, INSTEAD OF JOINING AN ALREADY EXISTING PARTY YOU GO AN FORM A ONE MAN PARTY ONE BEFORE THE ELECTIONS, WERE IS THE LOGIC? I THINK BO MILUPI IS A SENSIBLE WELL READ CHARACTER, WHO WOULD PUSHED ZAMBIA FORWARD

  12. ZAMBIA NEEDS FRESH POLITICAL BLOOD. WE ARE SO BLESSED WITH LEARNED MEN & WOMEN, ME INCLUDED WHO CAN HELP ZAMBIA GROW, BUT WE SHY AWAY FROM POLITICS AND REMAIN SPECTATORS WATCHING FROM OUTSIDE AND KEEP COMPLAINING ABOUT HOW THE GOVERNMENT IS NOT PERFORMING. BO MILUPI, CHIPIMO JNR, PLEASE SWALLOW YOUR PRIDE GENTLEMEN AND HELP ZAMBIA

  13. Zambia might as well be under an occupation government with the way the government prioritizes foreign investment over its own citizens. Maybe its true what they say,the end of colonialism only changed the skin color of the oppressors :(

  14. CHUUUUUUUU!!! Well spoken. This MMD and RB needs attack left right & centre. They are a useless bunch of I.D.I.O.T.S that are daily giving us reasons to fire salvos at them due to their incompetent inept leadership. There are times I start feeling that maybe we in the opposition are just critics. Sooner than later RB and his minnions quickly justify why we should shout at them. It’s their own making. They Implode.

  15. #9 and10 Why should Milupi join UPND when he does not share their policies. We do not upto now know what HH believes in relation to foreign investors and Mining Taxes. For PF’s Sata we know that at first he was for high mining taxes before he was against them. His recent position is that the govt should reduce them because they are killing jobs! Explain to me why Milupi should join this confused pair? Just to escort them into power ignoring their unexplained policies?
