FLASHBACK: PRESIDENT Rupiah Banda (right) and Minister of Works and Supply ,Mike Mulongoti

By Lusaka Times Reporter

Works and Supply Minister,Mike Mulongoti has said President Rupiah Banda has been part the Late President Patrick Mwanawasa’s legacy since he was Mwanawasa’s Vice-President and both of them had been planning developmental projects together. Mr. Mulongoti was reacting to some sentiments by members of the opposition that Mr. Banda is using the Late Mwanawasa’s name to gain cheap political mileage.

Mr.Mulongoti was speaking yesterday during the official commissioning of the Livingstone-Zimba road by President Banda. Mr.Mulongoti, who is former MMD spokesperson, said President Banda has also been a front-runner in the visualization of economic developments in the country.

“Those who are saying you are carrying on Levy’s legacy do not know what they are saying because Levy’s legacy is your legacy…You have been there as Vice when most of these projects started,”he said.

Mr.Mulongoti encouraged President Banda not to despair in his work despite useless talks by what he called some political jokers.

President Rupiah Bnada opened the Livingstone-Zimba road to the public for use and become the first one to use it when he took a 32Km drive on the road.

And Southern Province Minister,Elijah Muchima described President Banda as a true man of the people who is capable to bring development into this country. Mr.Muchima further justified President Banda’s trips as fruitful.

He said when President Banda goes abroad he goes to look for development when he comes back he comes back with development.

But a group of UPND officials in the province are rumoured to have issued a negative statement towards RB’s visit. Sources say the officials who where reacting shortly after the opening of the road also had some bone to chew with Livingstone Member of Parliament Sakwiba Sikota whom they are calling a ghost MP.

Mr Sakwiba Sikota praised President Banda for ensuring that the road project is completed. The United Liberal Party leader said he was proud to have joined hands with President Banda, during the 2008 campaigns, which he said has yielded positive results.

Mr Sikota said at the time, President Banda promised to bring change to the lives of Zambians, and this has now been evidenced in the construction of the Zimba-Livingstone road.

The 72.8km road, which gobbled about K125bn, is now open to the public thanks to China Geo Construction (CGC) Company.

  1. Good News.

President Rupiah Banda delivering on election promises. The opposition should learn something from this. They must learn that during campaigns, when you are informing the people of what you intend to do, it must be achievable unlike 90 day economic miracles and reports on performance of councils.

  2. “you hav been there as vice when most of these projects started”i quote.atleast for some1 of mulongoti’ calibre to admit that rb was vice by then,it only shows that rb is a failure in terms of initiating projects that are developmental.all these projects hav been found already funded and under construction.rb’ own projects are the selling of zamtel, increase in ministers already hafty salaries, removal of abuse of office Acc act & the corrupt ncc. what a shame.

  3. if only rb can get rid of his front line of misleading advisers which include careless vocalist politicians of,mulongoti, kunda, dora, shikapwasha, the politcal bully william banda and many other proclaimed victors of failure can i vote in his favour came next year.as for now as he still cuddles and entartains them with vj waiting for a snap shot to rig,i guess my answer is pact do o die.

  4. Iwe ka Mulongoti na Mad Mind of Disturbance(MMD). FI COLOUR FYENU. Rejoicing on Levy’s project. Fu seke mabalayobe.

  5. Oh I see…the shielding of criminal Kafupi ia also part of the legacy. The removing of the corruption act from the constitution is also part pf the legacy…Go to Hell you spineless man and suck satan´s Co**!

  6. ama comments ndemona, hah umuya inshiku kamo pakakaipaya.pipo are really furious and its a good they are unleashing it on the net.buy them guns and u will see the outcome.let 2011 be as peaceful, coz if it turns out to be a mufumbwe issue then i guess its a matter of life or death for our men and women in uniform.pliz continue venting the fury only in words, insult if u can.lets protect mama zed in and out.coz its now one zed divided nation.

  7. The Daily Mail to day reported that the UPND youths are against Michael Sata because of his constant attacks on Rupiah Banda. But the person the story is attributed to. Mr. Maninga, the UPND National Youth Spokes person has refuted the story by issuing a statement on Radio Ichengelo(actual speech not reported). This how the GRZ/MMD owned have gone down. So desperate that they want to out do the Post in “manufacturing stories.

  8. Now i understand why Zambia is so backward. Out of the 12 million plus Zambians, we have left everything in the hands of one man RB. This clearly has been admitted by Mulongoti who is saying levy legacy is RB’s legacy coz they were together. My question is, where is the MMD’s legacy. I thought MMD collectively agrees on what they should bring to the Zambian people’s table before a campaign and put checks and balances on their government to ensure the people get what they were promised?? What do our ministers do apart from praising the president? Do they ever bring any ideas to the table or maybe everything its “yes Mr president you are the best and the only sensible person in this country”. Why do these minister think anyone in state house knows it all? NJALA IPUBISA!

  9. Lt bring another story, this mulongoti story is out of pipos minds thats y we cant progress with our debates,as you have observed only seven debators.too boring we want stories involving bena vj rigger, senior chakuti, munthu to mention but a few.thank you.

  10. @5 u can’t see, and u are just there in mmd, are u fearing that u will lose ur post in mmd. Come 2011 u are going and u will be kissing RB’s p.e.n.i.s. Everyday just like urs on this blog. Atesa

  11. @5 i meant ur name on this blog since u seem to be used to that everyday. And i think u will be enjoy his Ruga.

  12. @5 you are deranged.
Mulongoti get-rich-in-mmd, you dog-breath, you dont even have shame. you know very well that bwezani has not achieved anything to be proud for, he is retrogressive, backpeddler and ye-ye, with your blind loyalty the day is coming for you when you’ll move during night time coz you will be so ashamed to walk during the day.

  13. Sorry, I do not find anything wrong with what Mulongoti has said. On the contrary, I find most blogs here to be completely warped. At first there was talk that RB had ditched LPM’s legacy. Now you are blaming him for completing projects started when he was deputizing LPM? That is what is called hypocrisy.

  14. 12 PACT PRESIDENT 2011 is deranged. Doesn’t he know that bloggers have agreed to debate like human beings and have abandoned such language?

  15. @14 changing the name does not mean we i can’t recognise u that u are the same person @5. Or young boostele. Man be smart and know what u are doing.

  16. $35US million just to RESURFACE a road of 46km.

Someone has stolen money here on this job or the tender process was not researched.

If Zambia used $5 million to buy road building machinery and then used Zambians as the workers they would of had a $10 profit out of the $35mil.

Rupiah just wants to employ Chinese and not Zambians.

  17. #17 disassociate me from these bloggers who are ever insultin please.am very much a different person from #5 as u can tell my name continues thru out all comments.and for you advisor who reasons using the stomach which when it has food it talks rubbish without food it is beggin, think before you lebal pipo hypocrites.rb is the biggest hypocrite who tries to buy votes from pipo by claiming what he didnt do.by the way do you understand the word hypocrite?

  18. @20,it is not insulting but acurate describing of dwarfs like.i dont know why your mother brought you on earth just to fart and polute the envirolment and waste oxwgen.you should die quickly

  19. @14, ok and you what has your father achieved? he is a big flop in life thats why your mother ran away from him and started dating chanda beu.you iddiott.i know you and your father

  20. # 15. Ule totokanya. Continuing on ones legacy should not be selective. This jerk is quick to pounce on commisioning stuff but has neglected the corruption legacy ! Dismantled Task Force ! Stopped Chiluba prosecution ! London Judgemet ! All this was Mwanawasa legacy ! Why stop if you where part and parcell ?

  21. MMD is bullshit. Rb hasnt achievd anythng bt i dont blame him coz he nevr thot he would b president hence he had no vision 4 ths country.

  22. this chap has never won an election..mike is an imbecile..Levy’s legacy was departed from and this time you are commissioning his projects with Magande..

  23. @17 – brainless, you dont know me and my name has not changed.
@22 – I dont enter into slanging matches with imbeciles. Just shows from your name that you are no match to my intellect. 2011 is coming and you will be cowering, evening changing your allegiancies, your bwezani aint gonna be there after 2011 elections.

  24. #23 Levy for 8 years failed to nail Chiluba and in the process millions of dollars were wasted. It is also surprising that a good lawyer that he was failed to realize that there were going to be problems registering the London Judgement in the High Court of Zambia. RB stopped all that crap and has saved Zambia millions of dollars. If the Judiciary is corrupt that is a different story and it is not RB’s fault – can be his problem though. The ACC Act is relevant only if the Zambian Constitution condones corruption.
