Kambwili telling lies — MUZ

Share

file:Roan MP Chishimba kambwili talks to journalists

The Mine-workers Union of Zambia (MUZ) general secretary Oswell Munyenyembe has said Roan Member of Parliament Chishimba Kambwili was lying by saying that miners going on recess would be declared redundant.

And Luanshya Copper Mines (LCM) management has advised Mr Kambwili to avoid using the mining firm as a campaign ground.

MUZ general secretary Oswell Munyenyembe said contrary to what Mr Kambwili was saying, no miner would lose his job because they would all be recalled to work.

Mr Munyenyembe advised Mr Kambwili to consult experts on miners’ conditions of service before making public statements.

He said issues concerning miners’ conditions of service could be best addressed through dialogue among all parties concerned and not in the media.

LCM public relations officer, Sydney Chileya said yesterday that Mr Kambwili should stop politicising the operations of the mine and deliberately misleading the public over the 45-day recess meant to create space for rehabilitations.

Mr Kambwili on Sunday afternoon addressed a meeting at Mpatamatu Market where he said the miners sent on break could be declared redundant by the mine owners.

He urged them to march to the LCM general offices demanding to be paid their leave days and all the allowances they were entitled to when they report for work.

Mr Kambwili argued that the miners should get all their allowances because it was not their fault that they were on break.

But Mr Chileya commended the workers for not heeding Mr Kambwili’s calls to stage a demonstration at the mine’s head office.

He said there were between 400 and 500 miners and concentrator employees who were recently put on recess and that they were all entitled to monthly salaries, housing allowances and miners’ supplements.

He said the miners on recess were still employees and were only allowed to visit the plant after getting security clearance as a security measure aimed at reducing thefts.

Mr Chileya accused Mr Kambwili of exhibiting his ignorance by holding a meeting at which he said things which were not true about the mine’s operation.

CLM management decided to put some miners on recess to pave way for the installation of a new hoist, mining equipment which would improve the mine’s efficiency by 60 per cent.

  1. Did anyone read a comment from ‘Munyanyemba’ when those miners were shot at,,,did he even try to fight for their improved conditions of service which apparently is supposed to be his job for which he’s paid for,it took a minister to grovel before chinese infestors for those miners to get a pay rise

  2. Kambwili’s concerns are very genuine. In fact MUZ must thank him for making their job lighter. I know they are embarrassed because he is advocating for the workers when MUZ must have been the one doing this.

LCM has always been politicised and will always be used as a campaign tool by all political parties

  3. Kambwili Talk. Sing Kambwili Sing!!! MUZ will be disappointed when some of the miners end up not being recalled.
Kambwili has been careless sometimes, but im Most cases concerning Ramcoz or sorry B & W or sorry Luanshya Copper Mine (it has changed too many hands & faced too many closures) that we dont seem to track the change in names. In most cases on this Mine Kambwili has been right.

  4. The Hon MP Mr.Chishimba KAmbwili, should not thrive on peoples igonarance. the first question that miners should ask him is wether during the funeral of the late mwanawansa, when parliament was adjourned he was getting the sitting allowance, and subsistence allowance, since the adjournment was not his making. where on earth would one acumulate leave days, risk allowance, overtime allowance and shift deferetial allowance when on leave? this type of politics will not take this country anywhere. why should the honorable MP derive happeness in causing uncalled for axienty and stress for miners deliberately? the miners in luanshaya have under gone alot of stress before because of losing employment. Mr. Chishimba KAmbwilli should not take advatange of the pain that miners went through before ? No.

  5. Observer
Who made these miners undergo the same stress, pain and suffering,,,its MMD through Chiluba and now they are suffering under the chinese through the same MMD and RB

  6. #6 It’s MMD through Chiluba working with Sata…

Elo that journalist in a white pair of trousers has an awesome butt!!! ma ma ma ma ma ma

  7. No reasonable person can blame Hon. Kambwili for worrying about the welfare of his constituents. The mine in Luanshya has been the most unstable and miners in this town have gone through too much to avoid being paranoid about a recess. For now, we will keep our fingers crossed that Hon. Kambwili is wrong, which will be great! I however warn the investors at this mine that this is not the time nor place to play games with livelyhood of people. Ensure that each and every miner is recalled at the end of the installation of the shaft hoist.

  8. What is honourable about this lumpen. By the way MPS are only supposed be referred to as honourables in parliament. Check the House of Commons(UK)

  9. #5 the observer – Iam on the CB and my advise to you is you just wait and see if Katiger is booshiting or saying the truth.

  10. ok, kambwili mafi, sour too much mulufumo but jounerlist in white ulinetako! twaaaapita apa, next headline. nati ndabe bloggers find something to keep you busy than doing pwekupweku here!
