  1. That’s the problem with buying these cheap hardware products from China . No quality control for African market .
This would not happen in the USA or Canada . Tho the hardware products too come from China . But quality is not compromised .
Because investigations would pin point who imported the defective tool, who manufactured it , was it manufactured under the strict western quality checks . The point is some one along the chain would be held accountable for the defective part and a company would be sued.
But in Zambia …… Kaya . Rip my brother

  2. #2 kabbudula bamba:After our fore fathers,Adam and Eve sinned,Death entererd, therefore it is out of ignorance to accuse the Chinese for this sad and unfortunate death for the deceased. There is time to be born and time to die.Whatever form it takes,it still remains death ba kabudula bamba.Read (Romans 5:12)
and Romans (8:20-21), (Hebrews9:27).Where death is concerned never finger point. The chinese are innocent as they dont give and take away life and it is only God alone who determine your destine and mine, not the Chinese as you claim.Am sorry for our deacesed brother and (MHSRIP)

    • I beg to disagree with some of your statements in your response to Kabudula bamba. You cannot be careless and cause loss of life needlessly and then you throw a death verse from the bible at them. What KB is saying is; if quality controls were effective in our country then many needless deaths would be avoided or completely stopped. Why is not unlawful to drive without a seatbelt in Zambia? How many have lost their lives due to not wearing a seatbelt? JohnVI 28 vs…..???

  3. # I agree with you.MHSRIP
Ba Kabudula Bamba,if its your time, even the hardware with the highest quality probably from Germany will falter and cause death.I remember at Chiwala Tech,we had equipment from Japan and Germany which jammed apparently cos lack of proper maintenance and if any accident had happened to Metal-Work or Wood-Work pupils,I personally would not have blamed the Japs or Germans.

  4. #4 Chabulabalya party(Woodman-Kt) while i appreciate ur knowledge of Bible, u need to understand those products once mounted are not suppossed to snap out coz they are dangerous. Now if quality was compromised, definitely we need to blame the manufacturer.

  5. Workshop safety practice needs serious industry inspectors. Sadly the MMD do not have any guts to ensure that national productive systems are well managed with safety at the top. Even Chinese employers are allowed guns as part of their machinery! That is how blind the MMD are.

  6. Life is a mystery mwe, I’m sure in his life he used condoms to protect himself from diseases, wear seat belts when in a vehicle, looked left and right when crossing the road, etc but never did he imagine that death would come at the hands of his source of income. As the wise-one once said in the book of Ecclesiastes…” it’s vanity, everything under the sun is useless”.

  7. Sad reading. # 2 even in the USA or Canada accidents do happen. Machinery tends to fail and in this cause its sad life was lost due to the failure. Was the Concorde Chinese? I know of people who have died in BMWs or Mercedes Benz accidents yet those are vehicles from well respected German manufacturers. When it’s time it’s time.

  8. #4 Chabulabalya party(Woodman-Kt), Don’t quote Scripture out of context.
God is not in the business of taking people like what happened to the Chingola man.
#2 has good points. We’ll all die but some of the deaths in Zambia can be avoided.
Importation of cheap tools is costly to individuals and the nation. If the tools came
from China, then the China man is responsible for the man’s death. Lack of work safe standards is the cause of preventable deaths in Zambia.

  9. This is sad and gruesome. MHSRIP. Judging from the comments above, there seems to be a presumption that the sawmill blade was made in China. The truth is we do not really know. The bigger problem is that safety and maintenance standards have been compromised in Zambia and are not enforced by the relevant inspectors.

  10. Do we have carpenters here to explain how saw mill blades are mounted and what circumstances can lead to it snapping?
I am told we have a number of degree holder Zambian Carpenters in the US and Canada. They can be in a better position to advise. MHSRIP

  11. bane when death strikes there is no way of running away from it. otherwise we would not hear of people dying from merely watching there favourite team lose a match. so the bottom line is that let us all mourn with the family of our deceased brother. finding all sorts of excuses is denying that death is real. it was his time to be with lord and so everyone of our time will come abeit differently.

  12. If this man had a helmet, the head was not going to be split into two parties. Safety regulations must be adhered to when working with such dangerous equipment. MHSRIP

  13. #11
Yes it was a Chinese workshop. In this blog its only China and MMD at fault, next time you hear any tragic news and its reported on LT…..just take your pick between these two careless people…..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  14. The observation of #2 must be considered in a broader perspective and not just about Chinese and the MMD. Some situationz can be avoided if all thingz are observed by all concerned and we can draw lessonz to prevent a recurrence. Death iz not something you can otherwize be ready for anywhere anytime.

  15. Humble Empire #8 you have hit a nail on the heard. I saw people working in a sawmill in the West and they had helmets on. Safety is taken for granted in Zambia.

  16. I think this accident happened because RB goes on too many trips abroad and because the guy was a PF supporter because his surname is Chisanga. How people can come up with conclusions as to what caused this accident when they were nowhere near the scene is beyond me. More shocking still are those that believe that work place accidents dont happen in the West – are people that gullible? The number of construction workers dying on building sites in the UK is actually very high. All I can say is that my sympathies are with the man’s family at this difficult time and if indeed anybody is responsible for the Mr Chisanga’s death, I hope that person or persons will be made to account for their actions.

  17. Where was the protective shield? Where was the carpenter’s protective gear? Where is the New York Times to capture this incident of gross negligence by Zambian business owners?

Or maybe it is okay for Zambians to kill each other!

Had it been Chinese owned, riots would have erupted.

  18. “No job is so important that it can not be done safely” Lets not blame the chines or the west for our own failures.Sooner or later somebody is going to blame the chines for having a coloured child.Lets face up to reality my fellow country men and not keep finding fault for our own mistakes.

  19. My wife and i felt now excited when Michael managed to finish off his analysis through the ideas he gained through your web pages. It’s not at all simplistic to simply be releasing guidelines which many others have been trying to sell. And now we consider we have the blog owner to appreciate for this. The explanations you have made, the easy website menu, the friendships you will assist to instill – it’s all spectacular, and it is leading our son and us recognize that that topic is satisfying, and that is wonderfully essential. Thanks for the whole thing!
