PF MP sources funds for construction of a clinic

Share

Chawama Patriotic Front (PF) Member of Parliament (MP) Sampa Bredt has disclosed that about K785 million will be spent on the construction of a clinic in Freedom Compound.

Mrs. Bredt said the construction of the clinic has already commenced and was expected to be in operational by the end of this year.

She explained that of the funds, about K160 million was sourced from Constituency Development Funds (CDF), K25 milion from Ward Development Funds while the other K600 million came from the Swedish Embassy who were the cooperating partners in the project.

Reverend Bredt observed that residents of Freedom Compound Ward 4 were currently facing difficulties in accessing health services as they had to travel long distances to Chawama and Chilanga clinics respectively.

ZANIS reports that the MP said this in Lusaka yesterday when she toured developmental projects under construction in her constituency.

Rev. Bredt said there were also plans to construct a school near the clinic since the land which has been allocated for the project was big enough to accommodate other developmental projects.

Speaking earlier, Lusaka District Health Management Team (DHMT) Medical Officer, Roy Chavuma said inspections carried out by experts indicate that building project conforms to the set standards of health clinics.

Mr. Chavuma said two houses will also be constructed for staff that will be operating at the clinic.

Meanwhile Rev. Bredt has commended government for constructing a local court in Chawama compound saying it will go a long way in helping residents who have to move long distances to attend court sessions in other areas such as Chilenje.

And in another development, Lusaka District Health Management Team, Medical Officer Roy Chavuma says about K1.3 billion is needed for the construction of a surgical ward and extension of the maternity wing at Chawama clinic.

Mr. Chavuma says the maternity wing at the clinic needs to be extended besides construction of a surgical ward, administration block and a frontage that will make it look like a hospital.

He said construction works will start once all necessary resources have been put in place.

ZANIS reports that Mr. Chavuma was speaking in Lusaka yesterday when Chawama Member of Parliament Sampa Bredt inspected some projects in Chawama’s Jack compound.

And speaking earlier, Chawama Constituency Member of Parliament (MP) Sampa Bredt said she has set aside K350m from the Constituency Development Funds (CDF) to go towards the extension of the maternity wing at the clinic.

Reverend Bredt said the construction works have delayed because the Government through Ministry of Health wants to put up a modern structure which will also include a surgical ward.

She has since commended government for its efforts in improving health facilities in her area.

And Rev. Bredt said the construction of an ablution block at Chawama Market at cost of K306 million from CDF funds has been completed and was scheduled to be commissioned in the next two weeks.

  2. This a good gesture rev Bredt has put up,this is wat our mps should b aiming to do as opposed 2 the usual politickin n mudslining they like 2 involv themselvs in.kip up with the gud wek reverend.

  3. C’mon guys!! You can’t read between lines. The Reverend will stand on the MMD ticket. You don’t seem to know RB. Reverend is a rebel MP from PF!!!

  4. It shows that when you are proactive and you work with government, development can reach all our people even in constituencies held opposition MPs. Good initiative Reverend Bredit. Can you also enlighten the Munali MP to do the same instead of whinning and honking all the time?

  5. They will all be officially opened by Rupiah who can say they are donor funds and GRZ funds…..Where is this a P.F initiative and soliciting for funds other than 25mil kwacha from P.F the CHEAP party?

  6. @4 mulekwatako amano…nugu nibu bootlicker nifi……the lady has just shown that she can never pocket the money. even if Rupiah opens it it is for the pipo. Infact remeber that my youngman HH is gonna be President at the end of this october… so grow up iwe cadre wabula foresight

  7. Bravo ba MP this is what we want not these pipo like Joel Malanji RB;s nephew, he give a MANDAMANDA hearse to the people instead of building a clinic.

  8. This is good. Inspire opposition MPS to also be knocking at the door of government not just blocking each others opportunities.

  9. I am extremely disappointed with the people who are supporting the MP in question. This MP has been the worst MP that Chawama has ever had. Christon Tembo built the tarmac road to John Howard while Samukonga managed to paint and renovate the Police Station. What does this Sampa Bredt have to show for the five years she is been MP. I think PF and its MPs should own up and accept failure, especially due to lack of initiative. Even Edgar Lungu (PF) and Donald Chanda (MMD) are born failures who have no capacity to deliver to the people of Chawama. Ladies and gentlemen, lets look at alternatives.

  10. Good MP this is but unfotunately she is being labelled a rebel by Sata’s empty heads. She is by far not PF by association & mind. She ceased a long time ago when the dictator told his gullible members not to attend NCC.

  11. Action speaks louder than words. TheMP is MMD at heart congratulations. We need this exapmle. The rest of opposition MPs have misappropriated funds meant for development and blame RB for failure. We win again MMD sympathiser

  12. I wish MP Simusaasa W (nchanga)and other MPs can do what the lady Mp has done in her constituency.

  13. This is the calibre of MPs we need in this century. We need MPs who can source funds for development for their constituencies instead of just waiting always for govt and even stealing the little that trickles down from govt meant for development.

  14. That’s the spirit. Elected by the people, work for the people. Dont just stand on a hill politiking and promising nothings. How many PF MPs/ Councillors have worked like this? It’s always insults on GRZ while stitting doing nothing. We appreciate this type of delivery. Much more is required of you leaders. And people should elect MPs that deliver, not because it’s one is a fellow kaponya or another. I would gladly give this MP a vote even if PF is hopeless. MPs should also concetrate on developmental delivery from the start of teir term, so the can prove themselves worthy at election time. Zambians cant eat politiking for five years at all. Get to work. Thats the real new culture.

  15. Are these not the same tactics being used by the ruling party? so all politicians are trying to impress the electorate as we get closer to elections

  16. sum of u r just tokin 4rom witout go 2 chawama n see how underdevelopd de area is.she has literaly faild as an mp.viva pf
