Zambians mark Sata’s victory

President- Elect Michael Sata
Patrotic Front leader Michael Sata

Jubilation and dance characterised the streets of Lusaka, the country’s capital city after final results of Tuesday’s tripartite elections were announced at the national totalling centre at Mulungushi Conference Centre shortly after midnight.

Chief Justice Ernest Sakala, who is Returning Officer of the election to the office of President, declared Patriotic Front (PF) leader Michael Chilufya Sata duly elected President of the Republic of Zambia at exactly 00:34 hours this morning.

This is after he polled 1, 150,045 representing 43 percent against his closest rival out-going President Rupiah Banda with seven constituencies remaining to be counted.

Following the announcement of results, scores of Lusaka residents took to the streets in solidarity of the President elect chanting pro-PF slogans of “Don’t Kubeba’ and trumpeting the famous Vuvuzelas.

Some merry making youths were seen approaching Mass Media complex and upon arrival at the main gate were restrained from entering by police who were manning the gate as they were in their numbers.

However, this did not deter them from continuing with their celebrations outside the complex’s premises where they remained for a couple of hours before heading to Arcades.

A check by a ZANIS crew in Kalingalinga, Chilenje, Rhodes Park, and Kabulonga among other places in the city also found people from all walks of life celebrating.

Those talked to were happy that PF had won the elections and that their prayer had been answered.

One resident from Chilenje, Mutale Wesu congratulated Mr Sata and the entire candidates who stood on the PF ticket for convincingly winning the elections.

Mr. Wesu hoped the new PF government would build on what the former administration the Movement for Multi-party Democracy (MMD) had done.

Another resident, Jane Daka of Kalingalinga Township prodded the incoming PF government to seriously look into the plight of youths whom she said had been marginalised for a long time.

Ms Daka told ZANIS that the youths contributed immensely to the PF victory hence the need for the new government to address challenges facing the youth such as unemployment, drug abuse and diseases.

Mario Mukumbuta of Rhodes Park appealed to the President-elect not to be vengeful but forgive all those that had unjustly accused him.

Meanwhile, scores of Chawama residents have received the news of victory of the incoming President with great joy.

The residents came out of their houses onto the streets to celebrate Mr. Sata’s victory as fifth republican President of Zambia since the country’s political independence in 1964.

The residents expressed happiness that their verdict had been passed peacefully through the ballot paper.

Adamson Phiri said people’s cry of a responsive Government that would look after the welfare of ordinary Zambians had been heard.

Mr. Phiri paid tribute to outgoing President Rupiah Banda who has been Head of State since the demise of third republican President Dr Levy Mwanawasa in 2008.

In Serenje distict, hundreds of residents thronged the streets and gathered at Serenje District Commissioner’s office to celebrate the election of Mr. Sata as President-elect.

The residents also carried shoulder high newly elected PF Serenje Central Member of Parliament Phillip Kosamu.

ZANIS reports that the residents who were also in a convoy of over 30 motor vehicles honked and horned as they went round chanting the PF’s political campaign slogan “Pa Bwato and Don’t Kubeba”.

A resident Nancy Kunda described Mr. Sata’s victory as a blessing to the country and wished him well in his endeavours.

Ms. Kunda further described the outcome of the result as a true reflection of the will of the Zambian people.

The 2011 presidential polls were the second heavily contested with ten candidates after the 2006 presidential elections which attracted a record 11 presidential contestants.

The MMD has ruled Zambia for the past 20 years and it ushered in among several other developments democracy, freedom of Speech and liberalised the country’s economy.

Others who contested the tripartite elections are Hakainde Hichilema of the United Party for National Development (UPND) who polled 489, 944 representing 18.5 percent, Charles Milupi of the Alliance for Democracy and Development who got 13, 382 representing 0.8 percent while National Restoration Party (NAREP) leader Elias Chipimo polled 10, 190 representing 0.4 percent.

UNIP’s Tilyenji Kaunda who polled 9, 713 (0.4%) was also among the contenders including , FDD’s Edith Nawakwi the only female contestant who polled 6, 627 (0.3%), Ngandu Magande of the National Movement for Progress (NMP) with 6, 097 (0.2%), Heritage Party leader Brigadier General Godfrey Miyanda who polled 4, 358 (0.2%) and the Zambians for Empowerment and Development (ZED) is at the bottom of the table with a paltry 2, 191 votes representing 0.1 percent.

  1. i said it that RB shud just do the right thing and that is go back to Chipata, Sata will still look after you as former head of state. Please do not feel bad if he prosecutes you coz he also wants to do the right thing for mother Zambia

  2. Well done indeed PF….. 3. Zambia, a young democracy making progress. Senior citizen, you have put your foot in your mouth. Good that you are apologetic though. The will of the people is not to be messed with.

  4. Congratulations Zambia for a peaceful election and transfer of power.

This is coming from a Zimbawean. Once again well done.

  5. May i also congratulate RB for his maturity by accepting defeat and consequently avoiding bloodshed in our beloved mother Zambia. We are a shining example of democarcy. May God continue to bless Zambia.

  6. Well its time. If you stole money to run away. I only feel very sorry for the hooligans He doesnt like them from my memory in the late 80’s. Even venders were registered with a mobile cycle wheelebins so the town can be swept at night. This is the end to eagle eagles. Its good for Zambia. Sanity will prevail and the cops will do there job. With the Army and Airforce at his disposal, Godbless the Bad guys and and thanks to us. I will visit a spoless Lusaka in December. Bring back SITET please with a modern kind of operation plan. ZRA Cleasing, GOVT etc too many to mention. The man has work to do.

My youg brother languishing with a masters degree in economics will now have a job. Cheers

  7. Congratulations Mr President Sata. Don’t celebrate too long because 90 days is a very short time to put money in our pockets! So get to work quickly. And Oh don’t forget the 1964 Barotse LAND Agreement too. We are also looking forward to announcing a small cabinet, but don’t forget to nominate Sylvia Masebo. There are a lot of vacancies too at ZNBC, Times, ZADAMA, for your huge family tree. Good luck.

  8. Democracy has won! To an extent I think Justice Mambilima had a very difficult task. She remained calm even with all the criticism. The fact that Sata has won means that the elections were fair. She can’t be blamed for officials who turned up late as these people were given specific instructions to deliver ballot boxes the night before elections. However, some in their wisdom decided to deliver them on the day of elections.

  9. Congratulations to Mr President M.C. Sata. We have conceded defeat after that convincing win from yourself. All the best in your governance of Zambia. We shall be a constructive opposition party so that our beloved country continues to grow. Build on the achievement we have left for the good of our country. Indeed, ‘don’t kubeba’ will now be ‘do kubeba.’

    • Like you writing, I have been a PF supporter, but I must mention that work starts now. Both parties in these elections did not campaign with manifestos. The loudest has won. It was about who screams the most. But let`s channel that to work. Hope is here.

  10.  I am happy that there was no inter-party violence during the elections. All the violence was due to frustration of the people with the delayed voting or slow reporting of election results.
The elections are over now and we should all unite to make Zambia the great example in Africa it deserves to be. I am very proud to be Zambian today even though it had been tense.

  11. After these celebrations the easy part will be over and the hard reality will begin to dawn.Time will tell but judging from experience two or three years from now i foresee some quiet resignation that its not as easy or rosy as seen during such frenzy of celebrations. We celebrated in 91 and after Obama’s win remember.Celebrate but do so with a good dose of realism.

  12. #9 Sonks power dont be so sure that RB was free willing. He refused to accept the results. just that we have a system and this brought about his realization that its over. I hope hes had at least a sleep at the lodge we need his valuble contributions when he comes around. He our 4th President will be respected so. Cheers

  13. Well MMD do not despair who knows there can be a by election soon just re group move you still have a lot to offer.RB thank you so we love you sir .Thank you once again.

  14. When is bwezani saying bye? We need to know if tandiwe is getting back to teaching. She should work without pay since she got paid for 1.5 years after leaving blackboard to state House. It’s not revenge it’s just good redance.

  15. Natwingile bonse mubwato! I’m just soo glad mmd have finally been booted out, about b l o o d y time!!! DAMN! Time for progress now. Congratulations Mr Sata, we have hope you will bring Zambia into the 21st century where it should be.

  16. We warned RB and his minions that dont take pipo for granted,I hope Mwanawasa’s fight against corruption now will be resurrected.

  17. Sata deserves to be congratulated by the following people from deep down their hearts. RB, George Kunda, Edwin Lifwelelo, Chanda chimba III, (fake) reverend Moses lungu of a non existent organisation called Evangelical Youth Alliance International, Rev. Peter Ndhlovu BIGOCA, Rev David Masupha, Rev. Chihana, Edward Mumbi the so called former PF SG, Joe Kalusa, Charles Chimumbwa, Thabo Kawana, Gregory Chifire, Kennedy Zulu, William Banda, Dora Siliya, Mwata Kazembe, Chitimukulu

  18. Chikala senior citizen where are you? This world is too small and we will hunter your asses you baggers together with you Rabish Bin. VIVA PF, VIVA SATA.

  19. Funny isn’t that the drive was to get rid of MMD and you end up with the real MMD. Anyone remember the architect of Chiluba’s third term bid, i seem to remember his name was Sata. Be careful what you ask for Zambians, i believe you have just allow the snake to enter inside the house, let no one be suprised when it starts biting even those who let it in. A bad tree does not produce good fruits. Thank God i am not in Zambia. By the way what did Banda really do wrong considering he had less than three years in power?

    • Italian Bunga Bunga, its a shame that you believe that everyone who does not like Sata is bad, you must ask yourself why in the first place in have to you abusive language to respond to my article. The truth remains that Zambia has not voted for change, they have just recycled the same politicians, and judging Sata by his past actions, i believe Zambians have voted for trouble, i did not hold a brief for Banda and i still do not but between Banda and Sata, Banda is a saint. Enjoy the victory because from here it can only go one way, down hill.

  20. Hey man! We need the constitution within 90 days. You promised to deal squarely with the Barotseland Agreement, I trust you, you can manage within 90 days. But do not forget the infrastructure ie schools, roads, hospitals; this will be of course job creation within 90 days. I wish to remind you that there is the issue of windfall tax on the mining companies, within 90 days. What will you do with Zambian airways, Finance Bank? So Mr Sata you have just signed a Performance Contract. You don’t deliver what you promised we will protest and pass a vote of no confidence, period!

  21. We shall see now who luaghs last and longest after all the mudslinging! The lesson to these people: never take anyone as a fool. Everyone has his day. Chanda Chimbwiii i hope you have drawn a vital lesson

  22. Jombo you are so negative, dont blame the people of barotseland,if you didnt c what happened then dont be so negative ,as Zambians, we are happy, you are the only one on the net who is negative my friend,,,,peace my man

  23. Congratulations to all my countrymen who voted in this election and to all those who made change possible in their own special ways. You have spoken and you have been heard. Today is your day. I hope the new leadership will always think you. You have entrusted them with this responsibility; you have invested our hopes and aspirations for a better tomorrow; you had the courage to say NO more suffering amidst untold wealth; you said NO to mothers having to bury their children because poor healthcare; you said NO to flying over Lusaka to see the flood damage when the cost of that flight could have provided emergency shelter to hundreds, you said NO to loss of life at the hand of a state whose primary responsibility is to protect you; you said NO to corruption and plunder. Today is your day!

  24. Kwena this is a good and refreshing Friday. Why not just declare it another Public Holiday; ta twacisendama mwe bantu!! A number of us will be very unproductive today. I might just sleep on my keyboard. This is a lovely Friday in every sense of the word!! Epo mpelele!!

  25. any opposition from especially MMD will be met with maximum force. we want Sata to rule in peace.

  26. I want to take this rare opportunity to express my gratitude and sense of humour and joy to the Zambian people. Zambian people God bless you and continue working hard for your country. This is your voice, giving His Excellecy Michael Sata an upper hand. He is an experienced man who has worked for Zambians for many years therefore he is much experienced hence he better understand on how to elevate the Zambian economy. I encourage and urge him to work closely with his compatriots and consultation is what yield best governance.

  27. Feel it Jombo, i have put my sir name now so that you c that am not hiding,,you guys who are with us,,i say congrats to the man on the JOB,,,

  28. Victory is sweetest when you’ve known defeat.
.Now MMD is an opposition party!! ha ha ha we shall see how they will debate, they were a proud lot!

  29. Shame on those who said Sata would never be President of Zambia. Time to work for your money has finally come. There is no room for lazy peeps in this govt. I am so proud I actively participated in the change process from dressing in red every friday to casting my vote. VIVA Zambia and congratulations to all zambians who fought through the ballot and for being vigilant and alert during and after election day.

  30. Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing.
This implies, MMD welcome to perpetual losses. Its tough in the oppostion.

  31. #34 its good you are writing from without.Power got to mr RB’s head and he started doing alot of things outside the law.THATS why he has being voted out my brother.

  32. Congratulations to the people of Zambia for bringing about change to the SADC region. Michael Sata and the PF bring hope not only to Zambia but to the people of Africa.God Bless Zambia.

  33. I have heard some rumours that William Banda is being beaten in Baulen, please lets learn to forgive each other as a christian nation

  34. Just sit back and relax and enjoy the show. For once since ba Mwisa Zambia will be a hive of activity working very hard to achieve all of our economic dreams. All those suffering from laziness, idleness, cluelessness, not to worry, help is at hand. You will definitely be cured or else? I am sure you get my drift. All those (un)fortunate enough to grab a position in the service of the Zambian people as servants will be asked to give their ultimate best and will be rewarded commensurately. Words fail me to describe the punishments for those who fail to produce desired results. So stay away from government service if you are not a performer because you will be humiliated and imprisoned.

  35. Nothing is predestined: The obstacles of your past can become the gateways that lead to new beginnings.
And always remember, everyday is a gift, nowonder we call it “PRESENT”, this is a gift from ZAMBIAN people to MCS!!

  36. Congratulations Mr. President. It’s amazing though that even in victory, some people show their crass by continuing to insult and cajole. Be magnanimous in victory. We have only one Zambia and at the end of the day, we are all Zambians with something to give to our beloved nation.

  37. Fall seven times, stand up eight. That is MCS’s spirit. You can never cross the ocean unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore. And that was how the battle was given the massive resources shown by MMD against the BELIEF IN PF!!

  38. Congrats zambia,in the midst of anarchy in Somalia,Libya,Tunisia including unrepetant zimbabwe,Zambians have proved it that the ballot works. To H.E Sata, its been along fight,10 years of intensive propaganda, starting with one M.P you have shown that in life if one is determined one can achieve, you never gave up,it is not how many times one fails,it is how one raises from the fall,To HH,Chipimo and Milupi, this is a timely lesson to your political careers

  39. This is the first time since 1991 to see the whole country celebrating victory of a candidate to the office of President. all other years have been marred in protests

  40. More African Countries should learn from this, Zambia’s democracy has been an excellent example since the introduction of multi democracy and I hope the likes of Zimbabwe with their untouchable leader are watching this with keen interest. There is nothing wrong in out voting the sitting president if he is not delivering what the people elected him to deliver. I bet this sent shock waves around Africa….well done Zambia…..

  41. Congratulations ba SATA, please dont forget to confiscate all the none ZRA paid vehicles bought by the mmd to the state. They are Tax Payers property

  42. President Sata please correct the following: State interferance in the Judiciary, public media, ACC and ECZ among many others. Can all these be a thing of the past pliz Mr President

  43. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning………………………………………………Work hard and become a leader; be lazy and never succeed.
……….Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellers there is safety…….u have fought a good fight, u have finished YOUR course, u have kept the faith…REWARDS ARE NOW ALL YOURS!!!!

  44. Please stop hating on HH. What type of a democracy are we going to have if everyone has to belong to the ruling Party! Stop Mob politics. And to those who are making funny of the MMD be reminded that they have the second highest number of sits in Parliament. PF will have 66 elected MPs plus 8 nominated ones a total of 74. MMD, UPND and independents will have a combined total of 84. The opposition is the majority in Parliament. Sata has to learn to work and compromise with the oppostion. Western and Northwestern province should be commended for their pluralist voting habits. They both seem to focus on the personal qualilties of parliamentary candidates and not their party labels! Very very mature!

  45. I wish to also say thankyou to Mpombo, Masebo, Mangani, Chitala, Patrick, Mulongoti, Kalala etc for the role they played to help propel HE Sata to victory. Some may have lost their parliamentary seats but you didnt loose it all atleast you helped to narrow the margin. Victory is ours. Oh where is Kavindele and Saki? We will now prob you saki

  46. Now we want a complete clean up at ZESCO, Daily Mail, Times of Zambia, TVZ, Bank of Zambia, ECZ, Zambia Police and Zambia high commission in London.
In addition there are several cases that need to be revisited like the reappointment of Dora Siliya to a senior cabinet position after she was found guilty of corrupt practices and many others.

    • Distant drum ati TVZ hahahahaha. That has made my day.  May God bless our Christian nation, the Mwanawasa family for Levy sent mr. Sata for heart work in South Africa. Professor Chintu please take up your role as presidential doctor; you kept Kaunda healthy.

  47. THIS IS ALL ABOUT DEMOCRACY I AM PROUD TO BE A ZAMBIAN VERY PEACEFULL ELECTIONS , SATA NOW YOU ARE IN POWER WE WANT TO DEVELOPMENT.

  48. Congratulation Mr. President. God has answered your prayer. Remember to hounor your promises that you did to the Zamian People. Let’s see it in 90 days like you promised us. This is a really a favour from God. Not every one can be a president but a few sellected from God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  49. Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened……….”Until this moment, I never understood how hard it was to lose”….By losing Presidential Hopeful 2011, Lusaka 03:45hrs………….and…”The song is ended, but the melody lingers on”

  50. At last ubwato bwacrossa. Congrats PF and the team for the job well done. Where is Chanda Chimba III? At least William Banda was taught a lesson in Chibolya, he was handed over to PF cadres by a police man in uniform, lol..

  51. ati opinion poll! where? The true will of the people has spoken.Shame on you Dr Neo.S. You fake doctor. You are a total embarrassment to the Academician world. No wonder UNZA kicked you out.We now have the last laugh!!!!!!!!!

  52. RB gracious in defeat???oohmm…this is the guy who wanted to rig the election…anyway no need to continue beating a dead snake..lol… We have King Cobra….Viva PF and Zambian pipo…

  53. congratulations!!! Mr President Sata we have been waiting for this moment, only God knows how long. well may the almighty grate you all the leading mercies so that you may be the leader you have promised….happy stay in state house because you were destined to live in that house.

  54. we have to build from here now. donchi kubeba was a force with a g-force of a satelite falling frm space. sept 23 2011 sata in state house. mubwato, flood gates open, rats escaping from the habitats many animals also follow, fleeing the plains as water is speed towards them. the boat is sailing, where is it going to anchor no one knows but the most high up there in the heavens. when all the animals and the caretaker step on the land anfter anchoring,  a mighty sound of a vuvuzela is heard from afar with it is a youth hoping for betterness, he is joined by masses of people. the masses are standing up and asking the man in front of them, “Noah is it you?”
and the man said yes it is “I”….. name noah.

  55. Congratulations to Mr SATA and the people of Zambia.
I especially congratulate Zambians for praying and casting their vote to choose for their leader for themselves to rule them for the next 5 years.
The PF governmenrt faces a great challenge of meeting expectations from the public.
I must say that the PF government faces the greatest challenge arising from expectations than any other government before.
In 1991, the change was driven merely by change itself and also freedom.
But this one has been driven by socio-economic expectations.
I am reminded of Obama in 2008 in USA and how that change was driven by socio-economic expectations.
The expectations paused a great challenge to the Obama admin as he now had to face practical reality on the ground.

  56. HAPPY FOR YOU BECAUSE YOU ARE WHAT WE CALL REAL MEN WHO NEVER GIVE UP. LEAD WELL MR PRESIDENT . GOD BLESS ZAMBIA!!! I KNOW YOU WON’T DISAPPOINT US….

  57. :Almight Gods will has prevailed and the way I know his Excellence MIKAELI CHILUFYA SATA takwata ichilandushi indeed its shame to people who thought SATA will not rule zambia.Bambuya Ba BANDA please welani ku kasama munkale dont go to Zimbabwe.Chanda chibwi walileta ulwaisula umushi mune nangula ni Nsala awe walichilamo mune.Vuvuzela lifwekelo, bakavindele insala shikulu naiwe Sakwiba sikota.Indeed we need proper scrutiney of how Fitenge na bamotoka amachinga came in without paying TAXES.ZAMTEL SAGA, FINANCE BANK and many cases people should be accountable its not vengence bane just account.ZNBC,DAILYMAIL ,TIMES all you fools just step aside. we can live together as brothers and sometimes we may die as fools if we do not use our brains mwefibantu.Martin Luther jnr once said.congrats zamb

  58. Sata show them how the country is supposed to be governed. Economic and social prosperity for indegenious Zambians. We are still a very young and small population and all the youths in Zambia are suppose to be employed. But alas!!! Chinese and Indians are selling freters at the market. And most of them are in laborer jobs!!! pa Bwaatooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!

  59. Dear Peace Loving Zambians at Home and in Diaspora, I thank God for being part of this generation that has seen the first Black American President, President Obama; seen the first African Country Zambia being declared A Christian Nation, seen Nelson Mandela being released from prison and becoming the President of the Republic of South Africa and today seen a miracle happen where God answered your prayers to grant you the President many have lived all their lives waitting to be their Leader. Certainly, this President will go in History as President that had a clear vision for our country where people should live as Human Beings with and the rule of law should prevail. I believe in you all that together we will give all the support to Hon. M. Sata, God Bless Zambia.

  60. Has Rupiah congratulated our new beloved president? If not it is not surprising because Rupiah is a fraudster who became ‘president’ in 2008 by stealing Sata’s votes. By the way where is that rigger bandit called VJ? I hear George Kunda’s diarrhoea has worsened since last night.

  61. legalize marijuana for your kaponyas kaili. im sure my favourite drug is legal at he moment in the streets of LSK. th ehead master of dagga smoking is in state house now, hahahaha his friend Rasta amalume a Maiko Zulu has a picture with the president right after winning, they thought why not indulge in the mighty and high smoke then think about the speech on the way. congrats again!!

  62. Jumbo & Tryzo-Its our choice!Surely did u expect the ku klux klan to celebrate Obama’s presidency? They did come up with all stories like u have just done!Yes u guys are smart but u failed to outsmart us kaponyaz! You never saw wrong in William Banda,Dora’s indecency,Kunda’s wastage & arrongance,Shikapwasha’s fungal IQ,Jimbo’s excesses,Chiluba’s escape, mobile hospitals,Indian labourers at KCM,the Chinese ill treatment of our pipo, abuse of public media, selective justice, zain shares, need i add more? Get down from yo Ivory tower where ever  u r in the diaspora, dont think the majority pa Zed  r living like u.Rather than endure the MMD’s bullshit,we  have chosen to live with hope.Viva pipo power

  63. Good morning Zambia!

Well, there goes the element of surprise. They never expected it.. detectives never detected it but change has come to pass. Those who resisted the winds of democratic change have now been swept away by the tropical storm.

I can’t help but think of Ghandi’s words again: “first they ignore you, then they belittle you and in the end they bow down their heads in respect to you.”

We wish Mr. Sata God’s guidance and wisdom in leading our nation and hope that every patriotic Zambian shall put their shoulders to the wheel as we move our country forward.

I hope Mr. Sata has time to reflect on the words of Micah, He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God?

  64. congrats to our new president sata. rule without fear or favour and honour ur promises you made to ur emplyeers the pipo of zambia. to RB thanks for conceding defeat and wishing you all the best in your retirement.

  65. Where is RB? He should have done the decent thing and conceded defeat or at the very least he should have abused the ZNBC cameras for the last time to congratulate Sata. As for the MMD get a new leader fast and release that UNIP fugitive RB or you will go into total oblivion like UNIP. I can now eat my cassava as i watch the MMD functionaries in government weep!

  66. I concede DEFEAT… So when do we begin to count 90days? CONGRATS bane from Konstable Njoka to President Chilufya Sata…. hard to swallow …. Hope you don’t rule by the true meaning of your name and become NTAMBALUKUTA ONE WHO MISLEADS [ chilufya] TALK NONSENSE [SATA]…. Which is likely possibility, am just saying!
YOU HAVE BEEN PERSISTENCE, FOR THAT CONGRATS. Okay bakaponya , it was nice sparring with you. Sad day indeed. to be fair Michael means HE WHO IS LIKE UNTO GOD…Imagine the KING KOBRA being that !!!

  67. Congratulations president elect Michael Sata. You are a world class politician who managed to put up a smart and brave fight which finally paid-off!

  68. This is a victory for all Zambians and even those who belong to other parties are welcome to celebrate with us in the boat. Congratulations to His Excellency Michael Chilufya Sata. We have a reason to celebrate as we have been failing together for the past 10 years. But today the good Lord has landed us a victory.

  69. So where are those “credible” opinion polls that did not give Sata a chance? The Post was spot on after all! Congratulations Sata and PF on your deserved win. Life is like a wheel, MMD is now an opposition party. How amazing! Advice to MMD: handle this loss well otherwise it will be the beginning of your end.

  70. The pic is bad just like king cobra. We wait for your 90 days punishment.Coz u have to be your creditors in that period.

  71. Dear Mr. President, Mr. Michael Sata and your Cabinet, Kindly request the out going President and the MMD to hand over among other things the Funds allocated to road rehabilitations that started 60 days ago. These roads need to be completed before rains. They told us Money was there although it was not in the national budget. Please let this be one of your first assignments- Continued works on started roads in all townships. Thank you.

  72. “Another resident, Jane Daka of Kalingalinga Township prodded the incoming PF government to seriously look into the plight of youths whom she said had been marginalised for a long time.”

Its revolutionary salutations for the marginalised Zambians for real.

  73. Well done to the zambian nation, you have shown maturity in democratic politics. Ba Sata, should acknowladge what Ba Banda and all the previous leaders have done for the country and then do more to make sure that one day every Zambian can have bread on his/her table.

  74. hope the Editor of the Zambia Watchdog retracts the atrocious editorial given the way events are unfolding. It shows that we have no need to be petty and shallow. Many people feel disappointed with the result but the personal attacks and the prophesies of doom in the editorial do not help anyone. I choose to be cautiously optimistic, as I believe many Zambians do. All the signs so far are positive. A well representative parliament, dignified concession by the losing candidate what seems like a concilliatory approach by all players participating in the proceedings showing we have a common destiny and a common interest to make this work. I hear the inauguration speech is equally concilliatory.

  75. Fellow Zambians in the diaspora. As a true child of Zambia i am here to congratulate H.E.Micheal Chilufya Sata the newly and democratically elected President of The Republic of Zambia and the PF as a party.Today we have shown the world the definition of democracy, love and unity. Our voices have been head through the ballot. Here we are joyously walking with our heads up as proud matured and peace-loving Zambians. Thanks to all the 73 rich and proud tribes of Zambia. We pray that Zambia continues to play a vital role in the fostering of democratic norms of governance with respect to human rights, our religious beliefs and customes .More is coming on the part of changes within our system as we still forge ahead in the fight for equality and fight against buraucracy,laziness,pull-him-down,threats,m

  76. People are not disturbed by things, but by the view they take of them.”

If you think H.E.MCS won’t perform, then die. Lessons of the 2011 elections: Zambians will take your monies, food and drink your beers. In the booth, it’s one out. Yayayaya!!!!!! it’s donchi kubeba!!!! yakuyaku!!! donchi kubeba!

  77. Thanks to the civil society and all good living Zambians, without you our votes could have been stolen by these mambalas, the VJs, intellignce officers etc. Thank God at last we have sailed

  78. Kodi what happened to the Opinion polls that crowded the Zambia Daily Mail and Times of Zambia before the election? These polls predicted that Banda would win. Suddenly noone in the State owned media wants to quote them.

  79. I would like those guys in UK and RSA who used to insult us that “Sata will never be a President in Zambia!” We told you prophets of doom!

  80. Well,goodbye isn´t really good at all.
I´m now in Trinidad and Tobaggo for a holiday,to my MMD,I say until then.
Remeber one thing though,in every dark cloud there is a silver linning.
    Goodbye

  81. What does the latest opinion poll show? ZNBC, Times of Zambia and Zambia Daily Mail on Friday 23rd September had a headline indicating RB would win with 48%

  82. Ba LT when will you stop being biased? I have seen RB’s farewell speech but where is Michael Sata’s inauguration speech? It’s true a leopard can never change its colours. Some of us depend on the media for information because we are far from home but most of the times what we get is not always satisfactory. Please try to be professional. GOD BLESS ZAMBIA and all well meaning Zambians.

  83. Congratulations Mr President for your person hard earned victory. You have reallt inspired me in particular that if you believe in yourself you can do it. On behalf of my association Pamodzi(Zambian in Belgium Association) l say may the good lord guide you through out your term in Office and l ask Zambian to rallies behind the president for all. Congratulations.

    Chairman Pamodzi
