Former Southern Province Minister Daniel Munkombwe (L)

Veteran politician Daniel Munkombwe has congratulated President Michael Sata on his election as republican president.

ZANIS reports Mr. Mukombwe saying in an interview at his Kabebya farm in Choma today, that he has every hope that Mr Sata will meet the expectations of the Zambian people.

He has urged President Sata to accommodate all people irrespective of past political inclinations.
Mr Munkombwe also implored the new government. To consolidate on the economic gains of the previous administration.

He said he has no doubt that Mr Sata will deliver on his promises because the new president is not only action oriented but also committed to the cause of the poor.

Mr Munkombwe said having worked with Mr Sata in the UNIP government, he knows the republican president as a man who is frank and hard working.

The civil servants and allied workers union of Zambia (CSAWUZ ) in the Northern Province has congratulated President Michael Sata on his election as the fifth republican president.

ZANIS reports the Union regional secretary Doreen Mukuka says the public service workers in the northern province
were ready to work with President Sata and support his 90 days development strategy for the country.

Mrs. Mukuka said in an interview in Mungwi , today, that President Micheal Sata is a visionary leader who has always wished to see a proficient and productive public service.

She added that his election as president of this country would now provide him an opportunity to implement his party’s vision.

Mrs. Mukuka has wished President Micheal Sata God’s guidance and strength as he assumes the highest office.

President Sata was yesterday sworn in as Zambia’s fifth president by Chief Justice Ernest Sakala at the Supreme Court before a sea of his PF supporters and ordinary citizens.

The occasion televised live by the national Television station, the ZNBC, was also attended by many political leaders and First Republican President Dr. Kenneth Kaunda.

Meanwhile, the CSAWUZ in the Northern Province says it stands ready to work with President Micheal Sata to stamp out corruption in the civil service.

Ms. Mukuka says corruption was a serious scourge that had brought down the performance of the civil service.

Reacting to President Micheal Sata’s inaugural speech on Friday, Mrs. Mukuka has advised the president and the Patriotic Front government president to deal with the root causes of corruption in all public institutions.

“Our new president must spread his fight against corruption to all government institutions because none of them is an exception.” Mrs. Mukuka stressed.

President Micheal Sata in his inaugural speech at Supreme Court on Friday declared his government’s fight against corruption.

President Sata said corruption was a cancer which needed to be stopped all cost.

And several civil servants talked to in Mungwi district in the Northern Province have expressed different expectations and opinions regarding the changes that the PF government was likely to introduce
in the country.

On governance, some civil servants have said they hoped to see a full decentralization of government functions to ensure expedience and efficiency especially when it came to resource allocation.

They said they wished to see councils in the country to play a full administrative role on government affairs in districts and provinces.

    • Munkombwe is a man without dignit and shame, he was a man at one point wen he was SP minister together with Chief Mukuni said SP is no go are for Micheal Sata and the PF, they later endosed Rupiah Bwezani Kumuzi Banda as the president for Southern Province shame on him that he can preach tolerance wen he cold not do so wen he was in power, wat a shame to this old man. PF was built on the cry and suffering of the least people on the street without bread and butter.

  1. Munkombwe is a political scavenger, do not allow him near the corridors of power. He is just like his cousin Vernon Mwaanga. Both like shifting camps so that they can continue receiving government salaries since 1964. Retire and retire for good.

  2. Uncle Munkombwe…just yesterday you were the one preaching that Sata has no vision. Careful HE Sata, these are job seekers…from ANC to UNIP to MMD to UPND back to MMD & soon you will hear he is PF chairman for Souhern Province

  3. You know maybe we all need to learn from Oldman Munkombwe that to survive and eatwell ni Sabana wikutishe….. I just don’t like they he had spocken about HE Sata and now he wants to sound wise

  4. Hey fellow bloggers, any updates on the where abouts of the fugitive Willaim Banda?. We must find him and ask him on one or two things.

  5. Chacine ni sebana wikute. Hands up all those who have forgotten already the insults this man showered our President with!

But no worries baba, such we will forgive. Bu William Banda ena, hm hm!

  6. # 6 Ukzambian magazine reported has has been stopped to cross to malawi by police in Nyimba. not sure if the story is authentic

  7. Sata has noww gone on a revange rampage. There is genocide in the shanty compounds right now. People have fled!!!!

  8. May these people who are saying they are ready to work with Sata tell us how they intend to work with the new president. The man has not even put down his bible confessing to leadership and pick up the pen to sign the first project cheque and you are all over.

Let us agree with what we see is being done and not mere words. Please my fellow Zambians, people who thought would work with Obama today are ticking him off in the polls.

I would rather wait and see before I agree with any policy from this man. Remember several of his pronouncements. Were they just campaign rantings or coming from the bottom of his heart? I guess one will not say he is going to work with the man to see men start exposing their bodies like we saw on the night of celebrations.

  9. #10 thanks for the update!

I have just come to realise that “Image Building” also faces diminishing returns like it did on RB. It worked well over a certain span of its application, and he won the elections! This time every additional image building done was actually increasing RB’s votes by only a very very small percentage. While Sata who used other methods, the votes increased hypergeometrically.

  10. H. E. Mc sata should not toralence or intertain pipo like munkombwe, BY , VJ, shikapwasha, mulogoti and many others. I believe he is capable to deliver with his team. We don’t want poticians who are just there for survival at the expense of zambian pipo, Not.

  11. Whenever the political battle is over; winners should always be congratulated. And it doesn’t matter who congratulates who becuase the new president is a winner. He had only one vote and the mojority of the people voted for him. He is now a republican president and he should be respected by everyone. Let us redeem ourselves from insults. Munkombwe also worked for the nation. He too should be respected. I also join in congratulating the 5th Zambian Republican President. May God kind you also.

  12. its time for new names in zambian politics pls old guys we thank you but i think its better you are at the farm enjoy yourself and wait for independence celebrations or something like that pls pls pls i do not want to hear some names in this new govt pls pls

  13. Those are the words of an old man, they help create and sustain peace anyway. But ba Munkombwe you should have waited for the dust to settle, its just too early for you to turn your insults into praises, That was a good attempt anyway

  14. I have been searching for a comprehensive list of parliamentarians on National Assembly website and elsewhere, I cant find none. Does anyone know where this list can be accessed? Its important to know who is who before we begin isolating them for scrutiny in the coming months.

  15. Sata, since you are popularly known as king cobra, strike and release your vernom first at the endemic corruption that rupiah perpetrated and encouraged with impunity.
Strike at unemployment, poverty and disease.
Strike at slave working conditions for workers especially in the chinese owned companies.
DO NOT ever tolerate any thing that smells like corruption in your administration.

You do not have much time on your hands and the time to start doing all these is NOW

  16. #25 what a funny Name, wantikunya… with regards to William, Zambian Police are also an Embarrassment why arrest him now? If true? ZP IG should go as well because he treated junior cops to be transferred to rural remote locations if the arrested William Banda.

Mwanga, Munkombwe, please stay away from our king Cobra, your time is over.

Dr Guy Scott for VP, he deserves it. Bloggers don’t you think it would be wise for us to have a Younger Person as Prime Minister? We should bring back that post.

  17. Bravo that MCS chose to be sworn in at the Supreme Court grounds it must convey some sort of message not so? I believe the message is “The Law is Supreme and Justice will prevail”

  18. Hey!! Great, great ….grand pa, Mr. Munkombwe Sir, your congratulating PF and especially speaking highly of the president elect is appreciated if done with good intentions. However, in hindsight, looking at your political history, we take it with a grain of salt. The odds are you are doing this with occult intentions of trying to be on the good side of MCS, for a possibility of being considered for some kind of political consolation prize. Fact is you have outlived your usefulness and therefore, do us a favor, bite the bullet, be a good senior citizen, enjoy your political spoils over the years and watch politics from the sidelines

  19. Just like in boxing, before opponents fight, they call each other names and others early predict knockdowns and are sworn enemies. But when the fight is over, and there is a winner, the opponents quickly embrace and the vanquished praises the victor, so is it with politicians. There is nothing wrong in Munkombwe congratulating HE MC Sata. The only thing separating them was political inclination, that’s all. They say politics is a dirty game, and the name- calling before elections is just one of the things that makes politics dirty. When you come down to it, and when all is said and done, we are all peace-loving Zambians. Amen.

  20. If anyone ever wanted to know who or what a Sycophant is, then look no further than this veteran politician Daniel Munkombwe. He is now looking for a position in the new Govt.

  21. VJ what happejned to your expert predictions and calculations that your paymaster would win? isnt it really sad to see a once respected diplomat fall from grace in this manner? From diplomaty to drug dealer to womaniser to voter rigger to…what’s left, Mdala?

  22. VJ is tired, he couldnt think properly , Grand Pa Ruppy thot by doing a ka stunt choosing an election date at short notice would disadvantage the opposition, i liked what his son Andrew said, he said, Rupy liked to hear what pleased his ears, So William Blunder and Dora AKA softass told him lies. As for Munkombwe, Gosh, he needs to be slaughtered. hes outlived hes Use. expired like yogurt

    • Alaa … I was also wondering! People need to level headed in some of these jobs. Paja peve ba CJ banaati sebanya, if I were him I was going to resign on moral grounds right away.

  23. While we appreciate that the President needs to be congratulated by everyone, it would have been prudent for Mr. Munkombwe to simply say “congrats for the win” and not go into all those details because we have not yet forgotten all the negatives he said about the President despite knowing his capabilities. Would I be right to say ba Munkombwe was being malicious and a job seeker …?

  24. Munkombwe is a fossilized UNIPIST. Die hard JOB seeker. he should NOT be allowed near MC Sata. Munkombwe a few weeks ago used to praise RB. why the sudden shift in Munkombwe policies. Yamunyokola Njala poligamist Munkombwe pamene apa?
