MMD presidential aspirant Felix Mutati says the due process of the law should take its course on former MMD leaders facing allegations of corruption.

Mr Mutati however states that the presumption of innocence until proven guilty by the courts of law should apply.

He says he would not recommend for the suspension of any party leader facing corruption allegations until when the court has found them guilty.

Mr Mutati says he supports the fight against corruption embarked upon by the Patriotic Front Government.

And Mr Mutati says there is need to follow procedure in calling for the removal of the Chief Justice Ernest Sakala.

He says while supports calls to reform the Judiciary in the country, this should be done in a holistic manner and not only targeting certain individuals.

Meanwhile Mr Mutati has expressed confidence of being elected the MMD’s fourth president during this Friday’s convention.

He says he has been able to talk to party members during his campaign trail and is confident of victory.

Mr Mutati who was speaking when appeared on MUVI TV’s The Assignment programme last evening however promised to remain a committed member of the MMD if he does not succeed in his bid and support who ever will be elected party president.

  1. Well said but i dont agree with you on suspension of any party leader facing corruption allegations until when the court has found them guilty. To have genuine and uncorrupted info related to the charges someone has to be suspended for them not to influence investigations

    • well said sir,but why are people bitter abt the judges suspensions while investigations are going on?

  2. # 1, Exhaust you hit the spot. Besides if you turn out innocent after the investigation, people will believe the outcome and say he / she was not present to bias the outcome.

The only reason Mutati wants to hang around even when the air stinks of his own corruption is because he is UNASHAMEDLY SELFISH and GREEDY. I repeat, these mathafackaz are only there for themselves, not the people. If the 20 years MMD were at the helm does not convince you, nothing will. We know what to do with the likes of such

  3. I totally agree with you Juzz, on the observation that MMD 20 years should go down as lost opportunity to improve people’s life. The only trouble here is the even HE MCS was part of the first ten years of MMD which was worse than the last tens in part of the 20 year in reference. We can only pray that PF performance differently this time around in the next 4 years.

  4. An ultra tribalist like Sata cannot develop nor build a nation. Pf is a primitive party they are destroying the country.

  5. Brother Mutati, God afforded you more than ten years of leadership in commerce, apart from nice sounding long english, you have nothing much to show for it. What is your lagecy? The very issues that Zambians struggled with in entrepreneurial endevours before you became Commerce minister, are still struggling with. Real and meaningful national development comes from the indegenous investment interlectual and capital investments efforts. Any half measures your corrupt MMD government put up were eated away by toxic levels of corruption. For as long as two out of every ten Zambian business people cannot access investment capital. The Chinese will continue slowly but steadily economically colonising Zambia quietly

  6. Felix Mutati’s legacy is that he was a performer. The fact that he was in MMD Government for 10 years does not put a stop to his political career. Sata was in MMD for 10 years under Chiluba, why didnt you tell him to quit when he formed PF? Sata was very dirty and unpresidential at the time. Mutati was in Government for 10 years, why should he keep quite? Can you argue on facts and look at the amount of investment mutati worked to attract to Zambia. PF is still as corrupt and will continue to be. What can you say about merzaf flats scandal, about the recent oil deals, about awarding appollo a tender to renovate state house, donation of 5 million litres of fuel to malawi and today we have fuel shortages, etc?

    Viva Mutati!!!!!

  7. @Zed poor people, I think yu have to judge mmd on its successses and failures. mmd scored more sucesses than failures. May be you were too young ot not born when mmd came into power. You able to build houses, shopping malls around, import cehap vehicles from japan or all the world which never used to happen in kk days. You can walk in banks today for loans especialy if work and build houses. To many achievemnts to list in 20 yrs. in 1991 this economy was on its knees mwaice. u sound like wynter kabimba!!

  8. It is difficult to understand where Hon Mutati stands on national issues, maybe he is taking the safe middle line?
