Calls for Chief Justice to resign driven by propaganda, he has only 2 months left on his contract-Chipimo Jnr

File:National Restoration Party president Elias Chipimo junior and his vice Charles Maboshe

National Restoration party president Elias Chipimo Junior has said that he is deeply troubled by calls for the Chief Justice to resign. Mr. Chipimo said that the unfolding events in the judiciary can be likened to the type of propaganda that was perpetrated by the previous MMD administration prior to the 2011 elections, which led to the downfall of the MMD.

Mr. Chipimo said that with limited alternative media, the signs do not look good for Zambia’s fledgling democratic credentials.

He pointed out that his party had asked the Director of Public Prosecutions to resign because he is personally embroiled in a politically-charged debt claim in excess of K14 billion to a state owned entity and is presiding over an institution that is granting nolle prosequi’s in respect of a man whose bank is owned millions of dollars by the DPP or companies in which the DPP has major shareholding.

Mr. Chipimo said the Chief Justice has only two months to serve under his current contract stating that his resignation now would put undue pressure on the Judiciary at a time when alleged intimidation tactics from the current Government are already highly evident.

He said that the Judiciary no doubt needs reform and cleansing from corruption but that so does the legal fraternity and the Government itself. Mr. Chipimo said that the full truth regarding secret prison visits and whether these were by a Judge or a lawyer masquerading as a judge will no doubt emerge and it will be clear then as to who has really been behind the shielding of fugitives from justice.

  1. First time chipimo kukambako sense, everytime you wait for others to comment and take sides. uchinje

    • Beg to differ. Chipimo is merely rattling off what most people want to hear. Even a foo! can play the popular ticket.

To reason that someone can not be fired because they have only 2 months before they complete their contract is provincial Mumbwa-mumbwa Chongwe mentality. Two days on the job, sorry, 2 minutes are all the guilty need to make records of their wrong doing disappear.

WTF are people so afraid the tribunal will reveal? We need to have all the cards on the table. Now even HH whose tongue is stuck to the roof of his mouth on this one is already appearing wiser than Chipimo who has been barking after his own tail.

  2. Bo Chipimo, just admit that corruption is with you and your Corpus Globe or whatever you used to call your Kantemba, your deals with the mining companies are well known so shut up before we smoke you out

    • Chipimo prisident? Eh, but there is a lot of dreaming mu Zambia. Can this chap even afford a car or he just drives a ka Spacio. We are tired of poor chaps. They are in a hurry to make money. Look at this old man, he wants to take every body to court just to make money.Poverty!!

  3. These are interesting times indeed. Indeed why is everybody running big headlines asking the Chief Justice to resign and not even a single letter to the editor asking the Director of Public Prosecution to resign as well. He is the one with soiled hands and tainted image as a business man and as the late George Kunda (MHSRIP) put it, Nchito should never have been a DPP and if he had any shred of integrity, he should have declined the appointment, but his love for public money is jaw dropping.

Mr Nchito, read this If you and your friend Mmembe make public money or funds your God, and it will plague you like the Devil

Just pay back public money and start from a clean slate and work hard as the rest of us do. One day the pay capitalist Zambia will reward you for honest work

  4. The call for CJ to resign are but just a scheme to deviate the publics attention from the issue of Mmembe and Nchito to pay back K14b. In the mean time this govt is seriously making moves to transform (not to reform) the judiciary into being part of the one party state machinary program. May be another Dochi Kubeba scheme.

  5. Well spoken! What is LAZ doing about its lawyers who are bribing the judges if the Judiciary is corrupt? i would like to believe that lawyers would be middlemen in such transactions.

  6. We didnt know that Chief Justice’s contract is ending in two months time. Its good then so that he does not step in the way of justice as we will head to his farm to fish him out.
Lets hope he is not praying for an extension, and who can extend it anyway;looking at the way he embarassed my President at the Cathedral. Its pay back time.

  7. This chap is articulate, please Mr Elias Chipimo Junior invite HH to join you as your No. 2 as an apprentice so he can learn a thing or two about leadership.

  8. Two months left is not a problem. The problem is Mmembe and Nchito imposing Albert Wood as CJ on the pipo of zed

  9. No way – not Chipimo. And I wonder if he consulted with the CJ to reveal personal details regarding his contract to the whole population. Chipimo speaks like a little kid. Of course he cans ound a little knowlledgeable because that is his field. A true leader should be broader than just in his safe-zone. Most times he doesn’t even talk. Meanwhile rumours are still rife that he might join PF just before the elections in 2016. Uko – we will not vote for another northerner after learning this tough lesson with Sata. Ofocurse northerners will vote for him… but you can’t win presidency with just northern votes – luckily it is like that in this country, wether you like it or not.

    • Speak for yourself! Who is we? Other people do not think on tribal lines as you clearly do. Its not about where someone is from its about what they have to offer. People will vote for whoever is the best candidate at the time and if he or she happens to be another Northerner, then so be it!

    • As it turned out, your so-called most people (less than 49% by the way) were wrong with Satana.  People are now fed up of one massively lying tribe that rides on other people’s good faith.  We have woken up and will smoke you out in 2016.  Chipimo can join the capsizing PFooter boat and go to hell.

  10. AT last, words of courage and wisdom from young Chipimo. Sata is trying to protect crooks. Let us stop him!

  11. LETS US NOT CRITICIZE WHERE UN NECESSARY, LET US AS ZAMBIAN STOP THIS HABIT OF JUST TALKING WHEN EVER WE ARE GIVEN AN OPPORTUNITY TO BE INTERVIEWED BY THE MEDIA.Some Zambians are good at talking not acting, why not allow the tribunal that was put in place by the President to do its Job? If the Court Judges did nothing wrong, then they will be declared free.I wish I was in Government I would make sure all these people who talk and just make noise without proper thinking are corrected so that the image of our lovely Zambia remains good to every one in the world.

Sit down, think, think again, think big and analyze before you make noise.

    Kakoma

  12. But who told this under – 5 that people can not be fire when they have only 2 months before their contract expires?

If the tribunal finds the man wanting, 2 months remaining will hardly be a consideration.

We need to have all the cards on the table, from the tribunal and everywhere else. Only the guilty are afraid.

  13. Two months left, oh, thats a very long time. A lot of damage, a lot of destruction can be excuted in just a week by a man with overarching intentions. And, Chipimo, why suddenly, such animus towards progress?

  14. The CJ is lucky that he comes from Eastern Province. Imagine if he was from say Southern, North-Western or Western, he would have been retired just after the 20th September elections. But this government of chimbuya has allowed him to finish his term.

  15. under5 chipimo is another waste of time..who told him that a person cannot be fired even before 24hours of his contract to expiration…coward cipimo hide on serious matters and only come to life after people like HH have put there fingers in the fire….silly young goat in politics.the chap always speaks what hh and others have already spoken……no wonder he will never even get a single member of parliament. by the way his party is also called ubder5 nashalaneka party….still with nappies…..VIVA MIYANDA,VIVA HH,VIVA all zambians for standing up against Mmembe and not this kachipimo coward fool….we want 14billion back…..by the way information is strong that Chipimo is a PF cadre….because he is a good friend to nchito and mmembe.

  16. And what does LAZ say about lawyer commenting on Chief Justice to resign? I thot they stopped lawyers from commenting on suspended Judges!!!! Why do people like ‘fred theif membe’ who claims to be a lawyer commenting freely of CJ??…Ba LAZ, UNZA…You are embalancing!!! Chipimo try to work with your friends in opposition. Dont be cheated , you do not have a even a single councilar, so take it easy! Good repeatation tho! We have heard that from HH already!

  17. The calls for the chief justice to resign are driven by Bemba tribalism; because a bemba President has failed to deliver on his election promises and so he needs to deviate attention. Justice sakala is not a timid man but this time round he must hold his nerve and not succumb to bemba tribalistic attacks. The western donor community including EIB need to withhold any money (grants or loans) to this disgraceful regime until the DPP resigns. Donors and their banks are not being sincere for continuing to back a regime that has no respect for the rule of law. Why is Sata being invited to speak in business forums when his government is busy expropriating private investments? The man they are backing is a dictator.

    • I totally agree that westerners should stop supporting this government that is so corrupt and tribalistic.  How come the same people do not support Mugabe because he is racist but a tribalist Sata is being supported.  This is NONSENSE.

  18. Can we have the man at the epicentre of this problem, Mutembo and his accomplice Mmembe, pay back the K14bn please? This MUST be treated as a matter of urgency.

  19. Atleast your arguments are devoid of the bitterness that has strangled underfive Hichilema ever since he lost lamentably with only 13 percent of the votes in the 2011 elections. Please help Hichilema your friend bitterness and tribalism have consumed him deeply, the only thing he can do now is to criticise even ants. with this attitude Chipimo, you will soon take over the mantle of official opposition from the opposition. You wont just be one of those nuisance noise makers like kajongozi hichilema

  20. judged ur president. learn from countries which are developed no single president has set up so many tribunals or created provinces/districts like this man sata. its true he is running the country single handedly his fellow PF members r jst scared to open there mouth.now people are starting to come out and point @ his shoallow wisedom

  21. By refering to the 2 months, Chipimo is agreeing with PF as per his custom, except he wants the CJ to leave in 2 months.

  22. Thank u Mr Chipimo,in fact  They want Justice Sakala out so that they bring in Justice Mambilima as CHIEF JUSTICE and Judge Katenekwa(copperbelt) or their hitch men to rape this country Zambia without any resistance from the Legal SYSTEM. More especially that parliament has their friend-Matibini,so is the Executive, the DPP and now they want Judiciary in their hands….Much as we do acknowledge corruption in the WHOLE JUDICIAL SYSTEM (not only judiciary), unbiased Procedure and comprehensive REFORMS must be clearly articulated unlike this war against a few judges….Not enough!! what’s corrupting Zambia is the SYSTEM,it has to be CHANGED! Zambia must be defended at all costs by all well meaneg Zambians. Arise the country is headed for rape!, :)

  23. its corrupt nchito who is supposed to resign and cj. Im really surprised by some pF supporters who are blindly calling cj to resign. Sata went to creat a one party state pf has control of both public and private media we pf cadres at the helm of DPP solistor general

  24. Finally, this chap is able to take a side and say a word. Or maybe its because its his professional field and he needs to say something? You used to be a lawyer at Corpus and you know how you do these deals. Dirty lawyers!

  25. This chap seems to be more wise than that guy in plot one, but i know chipimo is kama corrupt guy kali ka ma deal corpus globe  nama guys ba ku Atlas corp

  26. GEORGE KUNDA iwe washatusha ne fipuba hooowe ine GEORGE KUNDAeeee twachula without lawyers. Mwanawasa also died hooo mawe ineee GEORGE eee come back GEORGE eee…

  27. Elias, behave. We like you. We want to support you. Don’t make yourself irrelevant. Please. Let the old farts fight their battles. We must stick to the relevant and beneficial, not the political and social prostitution. Comprende?

  28. This Chipimo guy. It’s the second time I have read an article about him being a good realistic leader. The first time he was doing some sort of cleaning campaign cleaning the City of Lusaka.
I am just saying I have noticed. If this man continues his good works,Zambia may notice too.

  29. I think you are backing the wrong tree iwe Chipimo Jr and please do not misconstrue the success of your father to automatically transcend to you. Anyone find wanting regardless of when they would retire, should be let go. Service commanders have been let go on mare allegations despite habouring state secrets so that the country can move forward. Dr Kaunda, King Fred even Mwanawasa retired people regardless of whether they had 10 hours to retire. The Chief Justice has been at the helm of the corrupt judiciary and that’s why the president invoked his powers because even the so called judicial authority is infested with corrupt judges who would not sacrifice their collegues. Lets just wait for the truth to come out via the appointed tribunal and then we can decide who’s lying.

  30. Whether he has a decade or a day to go on his contract is immaterial, if he is found wanting ‘kuya pronto’.

  31. Zambians can change, before 20th September 2011 most of you were seen chanting PF slogans, and now the coin have turned. The calls for the DPP to resign is interesting, Mr Nchito had a firm and the firm is the one owning money to the said public institution and not him as a person. This is simple business knowledge, if you had an opportunity to check with the banks you will be shocked at how many politicians have loans with the banks, some of the mortgages given by ZNBS were given to Politicians in govt and opposition. Take time to dig facts like I do before I say anything and by the way which ever person we vote for will not change anything, let us work hard to create our own worthy as individuals and as groups

  32. The call is not for him to retire – the call is for him to RESIGN. Whether or not he has a minute or 2 before retirement is immaterial here. What is critical is to engender the urgency of the need to get the judiciary back to its tracks. As for the 14 billion – that is another matter that must also be pursued with the same passion. Theft is theft whether a case has been withdrawn or not. When one thief catches another nothing removes the facts of their individual crimes!

  33. To say that the man that compromised justice in the country and is the definition of corruption should be allowed to serve his contract so that he earns his third gratuity and life pension is an insult to God!! May the name of God be priased!!!

  34. @Jerry the Real Zambian: please find and read the Mutuna judgement before you comment. the court removed the corporate veil and the three guys are personally liable.

  35. Chipimo must show us more brevity and stop being scared of the government machinery. He needs to stand up more for what he believes not when only it wont land him in trouble with the government.

  36. whether it is one day or two minutes left of Sakala’s contract is not the issue. The issue is moral intergrity. This man sakala should have resigned the very day Sata became president. Sakala has no shame at all, that he can hide in the constitution protection and continues to serve under a man he publicly spanned and refused to greet. what a shame! Cipimo, plz see issues as they are. if the man is a hindrance to the much talked about judicial reforms as has been cited by many people, he should just resign forthwith even if there is a short time left of his contract. Who knows how much harm and damage one can do in just one day or one hour. Shame on you ‘Chief Injustice” Sakala.

  37. Ok fine…I will go and borrow 5billy tomorrow n I will beat the hell out of anyone who will be sent to pinda me…ask Trevor Berbick, Larry Holmes, Marvin Frazier, Frank Bruno n the list is endless…ndaponona ka!!
