UNPD president Hakainde Hichilema

United Party for National Development (UPND) President Hikainde Hichilema has called on party members to desist from any form of violence as they campaign during in the Livingstone by-elections to be held on July 5 this year.

Mr. Hichilema has implored the UPND Candidate for Livingstone by-election Howard Sikwela to put the interest of the electorate first if he wins the elections.

“When you win do not forget the people who will vote for you but fight for development ward by ward,” Mr. Hichilema said. Mr. Hichilema who was optimistic of the party’s victory further advised Mr. Sikwela to attend all council meetings in order to effectively attend to people’s problems.

Speaking when he introduced UPND’s Sikwela to Movement for Multi party Democracy (MMD) and UPND Supporters shortly after he successfully filled in his nominations at Villa Grounds yesterday, Mr. Hichilema said no party members should engage in any form of violence adding that he will personally deal with any members inciting violence during the campaigns.

“We want peaceful campaigns and if it means fighting let us fight the Patriotic Front ( PF) in the ballot box,” said Mr. Hichilema. However Mr. Hichilema called on UPND and MMD members to defend each other whenever provoked and attacked by PF cadres. The UPND and MMD have teamed up to support one candidate.

Mr. Hichilema also called on both MMD and UPND members to seriously embark on a door-to-door campaign strategy to win voters.

And Mr. Sikwela pledged to address problems of sanitation and water reticulation systems in the Tourist capital once voted into office. The Livingstone Parliamentary seat fell vacant following a successful petition by PF’ Joseph Akafumba and UPND’s Frederick Chunga and is fervently been contested by UPND and PF.

  1. Ngefyo ulandako ifyo.not insiting other pipoz children to breaking the law.look at the brutality u caused

  2. As long as you have allowed William Violent Banda to join your membership, there is noway you will avoid violence.

  3. @Jones Kalyati, Watch what you think, believe in and say, Check your conscious, is it still alive? Are you for the idea that Mutembo Chito is a DPP with criminal cases. Is it fine with you that 14Billion Kwacha be left to Mutembo and Mmembe, is that okey with you. if yes, then are you normal or suffering from ignorance of value, or rather suck into the deepth of tribalism patrotic. Shame that some Zambians can think like you. The Youths who were brutaly beaten are Horos of freedom and independency. Its our money and our country they are defending. The police is rotten in thoughts by failing give the well meaning request the youths made

  4. Forza hh. You are an enlightened leader for modern times. You don’t have blood on your hands like some so called experienced leaders who led thugs like scorpion kadobi and prisca nakawala to hack people in chawama with pangas!

  5. Violence free politics is what we all desire to see in our country. Your words are welcome and I also implore you to tell the emotionally charged Douglas Siakalima that declaring war on the police will not win the support your part needs.

  6. Indeed words of wisdom and sense of maturity exhibited by HH. Wish all political party leaders could potray such attitude. Long gone is the era of insults and unnecessary mudslinging

  7. AND WHY WRITE IN BEMBA. WHO SAID WE ENJOY YOUR WRITING, YOU SHOULD VERY DUAL YOU SAME KA JONES.WATCH OUT,.

  8. These are the guys leaders should be preaching about……Ilike these words from HH, the only problem i have is that the momment Syakalima joins the camp for campaigns in Livingstone these good words from HH would watered down because this guy is the new William Banda…..Please dont allow Syakalima to go for campaigns in Livingstone because he is of no value to the party……….

  9. MMD and UPND can support each other, that is good. But the crunch time is coming if or when they decide to be a unified front. Who will be the leader? That is the biggest question. It was asked yestuday, it is being asked today and it will be asked tomorrow. Who will be the leader of a MMD-UPND coalition. Both Never and HH are power hungry! I hope they won’t break up just before the main elections, just for the sake of who leads the grouping. This is not the first time, I repeat, this is not the first time we are witnessing this development. The earlier it is solved or resolved the better.

  10. Some soothing wordz from HH for a change, the kind you expect from a wize man of the people. That way you win the confidence of the electorate.

  11. surely for the first time this year nice words from under five, denounce & forget about the Mapatizya fomular as well and avoid william banda’s lectures & advice!.

  12. @Floyd chitalu. Be rest assured that the upnd will contest the next elections on its own right. If nevers mumba wants to join the upnd with members of his party he is free to do so. Hakainde is the next president of Zambia. Zambians have seen how clueless, incompetent and tribal the pf is, and they have no choice but to elect an enlightened and self made man like Hakainde. Running a country is certainly not for half literates!

  13. Hmm……? And what is William Banda doing for this party? What job role or job description does Willam Banda have for this party? Was he not an MMD cadre? Just asking or have the Zambian people forgotten already! Prove yourselves and not just words please. Zambians please do not forget talk is cheap. How many leaders have done the talk and not the walk. Don’t forget the “don’t KUBEBA” slogan. And as for Nevers Mumba he needs to retire. Words of wisdom for you. Seek new blood and not the same old cycle of political leaders.

  14. HH prove to the people of Zambia why we should choose you as our leader. All leaders must prove themselves from now on. Talk is cheap and the Zambian people are tired of this. Be wise Zambia!!! It’s not about just supporting a party. Support a party that will deliver!!

  15. wise words, ba sir. I think he is now realising the vacuum that PF has failed to fill. That is the right direction to go “development and legitimate behavious”. Even Muchinga will vote for you in 2016 if you follow the way of wisdom i taught you.

  16. HH is good only that mmembe has fought his lungs out to tarnish HH look bad because of the K14 billion he owes DBZ. Mmembe knows that HH will not allow him go away free with the K14 billion. good that zambians you have statred seeing

  17. I CAN SEE THAT PF IS UNDER PRESSURE TO UPND AS IT WAS TO MMD WITH PF,THE DAY CANT GO MINUS TALKING BAD TO HH AND UPND,GO ON HH,YOU ARE MAKING SAKENI FEEL THE HEAT OF THE OPPOSITION,VIVA HH

  18. But how can MMD support UPND’s candidate when it was UPND that helped in the petition to get rid of the MMD candidate. yakosa.

  19. HH when you are not next to advisors like Syakalima,Ackson Sejani and those disgruntled Tonga’s you speak sense keep it up maybe i will declare you winner in 2016 once they give me back my white hat.awe nachula ku nsala this suspension is killing me.My lawyer has run away due to brokeness.

  20. Ukwanites should just admit that they can longer hide Ukwa’s illiteracy and lack of depth on issues concerning the country. So please spare us your “for the first time nonsense”. Just admit that you are slowly been cured of the cobra’s venomous spit. Welcome to the real world. Please continue washing off that venom from your eyes!

  21. TOO LATE BA HH. AFTER BURNING CHITENGES FOR ANOTHER PARTY WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO SAY? YOU MAY GET LIVINGSTONE AND EVEN THE WHOLE OF SOUTHERN PROVINCE. BUT STATE HOUSE YOU SHALL NEVER ENTER.

  22. are you sure HH has the numbers to win the presidency or is it a case of bitter losers soothing each other here?

  23. HH could do well if he had a closer look at the people around him. You have some poor strategist around you mate. Clean up the house.

  24. @37 mature. Data has squandered the goodwill people had for him. He is a bemba tribalist. He has lost the votes of the non bembas who voted for him. It is Sata who no longer has numbers. Sata is a one term president like Rupiah.

  25. I think @36 Chisenga and @37 mature, must be dull and primitive, let me teach you ,numbers can come and go,not everyone is mentally stagnant as both of you. Mwefipuba, Mwe…..
