Patriotic Front (PF) secretary-general Wynter Kabimba has castigated the MMD and UPND for allegedly sponsoring online publications to insult and cast aspersions on members of the clergy and traditional rulers.

Mr Kabimba said that the bitterness exhibited on a daily basis by the UPND must not go unchecked by the PF. Speaking when he officially opened the PF Copperbelt provincial consultative conference at the Mindolo Ecumenical Foundation in Kitwe yesterday, Mr Kabimba said the PF must condemn in the strongest terms, the collaboration between UPND and MMD to sponsor elements in the social media who cast aspersions on members of the clergy and traditional leaders.

“It is sad that the Zambian Watchdog has been posting insults about Archbishop Telesphore Mpundu and Chieftainess Nkomeshya… and the MMD thinks this is the way to raise their political profile.

We must protest against such immoral level of politics in the misguided name of freedom of speech or press freedom,” Mr Kabimba said.

He said MMD and UPND leaders have no respect for church leaders and traditional rulers and that it is time the PF closed some of the online publications.

Mr Kabimba also said the electoral defeat of the MMD is still a great shock to both the former ruling party and its surrogate partner UPND.

“Consequently, the two have continued to pretend that they have accepted defeat through a democratic process when this is not so.

“The bitterness which is being published on a daily basis by the UPND must not go unchecked by the PF. UPND is bitter because the leaders in the party had sworn to heaven that the PF would never win an election without them as partners,” he said.

Mr Kabimba advised PF members to expend their energies on building unity, in order for the ruling party to meet its future challenges. He said the PF needs this unity of purpose now that it is in Government.

Mr Kabimba advised members to identify leaders with personal values that will enhance unity and not to be deceived by selfish leaders who can serve another political party at any time.[pullquote]Mr Kabimba said the PF has registered a non-governmental organisation called the National Programme for Poverty Reduction, to drive a pilot project in Lusaka to train 300 women in tailoring.[/pullquote]

“Our party also needs disciplined leaders to survive the temptation of being lured by monetary benefits. This calls for selflessness and loyalty to the party. One man who has exhibited these virtues in an exemplary manner is none other than His Excellency Michael Chilufya Sata,” Mr Kabimba said.

He also said although election results in favour of the PF on the Copperbelt have continued to improve, the ruling party is concerned about the rural districts of Mpongwe, Lufwanyama and Masaiti.

Mr Kabimba said the PF needs to work hard to win the three parliamentary seats and that it needs to plan and design new strategies for these areas.

“We must understand the obstacles to our victory and promote additional local leadership to win the confidence of the people. I would like to urge this consultative meeting to analyse the challenges which our party still faces in Ndola rural and recommend in detail the remedies to surmount these political and social challenges,” Mr Kabimba said.

On youth and women empowerment programmes, Mr Kabimba said the PF has registered a non-governmental organisation called the National Programme for Poverty Reduction, to drive a pilot project in Lusaka to train 300 women in tailoring.

He said the PF has added literacy courses in English and mathematics to the training for women and that offices in all the 10 provinces will be opened by the end of the year.

PF Copperbelt provincial chairman Rebby Chanda said party mobilisation is progressing well and that the party leadership continues to interact with members after last year’s election victory.

He said 5,000 MMD and UPND members have defected to the PF since last year’s election victory. Mr Chanda urged Government to expedite the implementation of youth and women’s empowerment programmes.

Mr Chanda also urged Government to urgently address street vending on the Copperbelt. And PF Kitwe district chairman Allan Mwewa said the PF must take stock of its performance both within and outside Government as it marks one year in office this September.

  1. We are behind you all the Sir, this for mother Zambia not for the well know selfish tribalists

  2. We are behind you all the way Sir Kabimba, you have shown you are working for mother Zambia, unlike some well known selfish tribalists who are hell bent on going to plot 1 by any means
Nevers Mumba storming state house, inviting Muvi tv in toll, how uncouth of the former Veep, That was a breach of protocol Mumba is making a fool of himself. In any other country the lot would have been gunned down in their cars even before reaching the gates of plot 1

  3. So what is new? Are there no unemployed qualified men, women and youth tailors?

This pseudo-NGO does not create or provide employment. It will only provide jobs to the PF members who will supposedly be running the pseudo-NGO. In any case, what is 300 people, and is Lusaka Zambia? There must be more poverty, unemployment and illiteracy in other towns and cities than there is in Lusaka.

Total nonsense. It looks like we are in for a longer than usual long-haul ride of disappointment, if the government does not come up with better practical ideas for Zambia.

Today we live in a high-tech world, and that is when the entire governing party is competing with private individuals who are offering tailoring courses?

  4. there is no secret agenda, any political party has the right to get power if grz is not functioning.

  5. kabimba what are tolking about?please we need development not protest protest protest,if you think you are not ok you need a doctor to give you medicines.may be you forgot that your king cobra is say good bye to the country,ok satana we wish you quick dead.

  6. While insults make sad reading closing these online media outlets will not solve the problems. Let those aggrieved seek justice through the courts of law.
Freedom of speech/press is not absolute but relative just like all other freedoms.

  7. Bob@3
That’s just a start, PF is working towards the development of our nation,, soon & very soon people will begin to see the dividends as u well know Rome was not made in one day,, we want our nation to be productive in order for us to achieve this we ought to support our govt when it comes up with good ideas
Not just put them down for sheer tribal bitterness no badala

  8. Disappointed with the much talked creation of PF NGOs to reduce employment problems of the youths, gradutes and general public. Today Kabimba announces to the nation the grand PF NGO called National Program for Poverty Reduction (NPPP) as the saviour for unemployment in Zambia. What a shocker!. There already exist such an institution and can do more given resources. 300 women put on the pilot scheme of tailoring as a way of employment and poverty reduction can not be panacea for unemployment in the nation at large. Come up with more meat Kabimba, its a big joke you have engaged yourselves in PF. Dont hoodwink the public with your trade mark mantra of ‘Donch Kubeba. Your political rhetoric is now deception to Zambians.

  9. Last time I checked, I noticed that all the major on line papers started when MMD was in power and I also started blogging when MMD was in power. When did we start sponsoring them as a party? This is indeed a new one. taking hallucination to the next level.

#3 Tailoring? I echo your sentiments, in this day and age where you have to think global? This is so 1960s solutions to community problems. Education is key here. Every person blogging here who is out of poverty will testify that what got them out of the mad is education. That is the recipe that works and that is why MMD had a big plan on this in our last term.

Education education education is key and not these  micky mouse skills projects

    • This is PF project and not government project. The moment you separate the two, maybe you can begin to understand. Tailoring is a fundamental part of the fashion industry which a multi-billion dollar industry. Fashion designers start by learning tailoring. I am amazed that you talk about mega development when you can not even understand the fabric of macro and micro development efforts. UNIP’s 27 years build the current 80% of Zambia’s infrastructure, MMD’s 20 years so only less than 6% of the total infrastructure development in the country. The other 14% is for private developers. Education is surely the key, but what did MMD do about it?

  10. Misplaced agenda and priority for the women, did u consult them or just thot that tailoring can work, foolish Kabimba and yo boss satan, poor scott who has become a tail

  11. Then it goes without saying that The Post (PF mouth piece) should also be closed. This really is a petty issue, PF needs to understand that not everyone will like you and suck up to you!! Just concentrate on national development and not political bickering.

Out of all projects that you can implement for poverty reduction, you thought of tailoring? GOD HELP US!!!

  12. PF New term BITTERNESS they see Bitterness in any opposing view. The word Bitterness as a response to opposing view was coined at Bwinjimfumu

  13. Tailoring lol. How will they compete with cheap things from china and salaula-unless you give them govt contracts in which case that will be patronage and corruption

  14. @Busi – I agree with you 100%. Anyone opposed to PF’s policy failures is bitter this bitter that, maybe someone told them that they should operate with this word through and through, it gives them comfort probably. They are forgetting that this word will not change the lives of the people whom they promised miracles in 90 days. Every minister says bitterness to all oppositions, they are trying to instill this in the populace alas it will not just work.

No jobs, President is sick, Tribalism, Service Delivery, Corruption – just bitterness. These are cabinet meetings discussions, it’s just bitterness.

Lets wait and see what happens, I think HH should also go and check on Sata today!

    • I like the opposition but i despise them for acting bitter. There are a thousand ways to go about contributing to the developmental ideas of the nation than to call leaders names and run to the neighbours for help before you dialogue with them. Calm and poise is important when dealing with issues with divergent opinions. HH and Mumba should not be taking things personal. They should know MMD and UPND are larger than them.

  15. MMD and UPND my message to their supporters is simply work extra hard in campaigning physically,do not use sites like Zambia watch Dog and LT.Otherwise you will continue living in a fantasy world of ruling after 2016.

  16. # 21 Nameless, use LT, Zambian Watch Dog and other news sites not related to PF to get authentic info without bias. News sources such as the Post (postmoterm), Tumfweko and all national papers are under the arm pits of PF govt and will not tell the truth.

  17. Kabimba should know that PF which stands for PATRIOTIC FAILURES will remain failures, Patriotic Failure Party has continued to loose direction and behave like Hyenas without plans. Stop politics of blame and start performing, PF can not establish an NGO cheap politics Winter go back to school and study Sociology. You are misguided Zambian politician and go back to local governance.

  18. ZNS now tailoring ?? waste of resources in the morden times and women, let press freedom alone Govt jst prove ur point work for zed.

  19. Why is it that when in opposition people like the underground press, once they get into power, it becomes their enemy? Just thinking. before coming to power you are all nicely humble once you take over you become kings?

  20. You politicians stop thinking for us, because you always think out of synchronisation with us.

Your MPs were elected to consult us on what we want done, not just talked about.

When you pretend to be our repository of knowledge and wisdom, you end up with this Kabimba nonsensical talk. You have been in government for less than 12 months, and you are already divorcing yourselves from people?

    Shame on you!

  21. In this day and age you want to close online publications? Kabimba and his PF are not thinking like normal human beings. No wonder the Zimbabweans in London have come up with words like “we are not satasfied” and “we are disatasfied”. Clowns are in total control.

  22. As George Orwell observed: History recycles, the division on high, middle, low classes in society seem to never be changed. The middle wants to be the high and they’ll act “on behalf of the low” to dethrone the high. Afterwards, a new middle class arises, all will change except the low. The high and middle make and uphold the law, the low (proletarian) is just too stupid to revolt. The state maintains its structure by torture, intimidation, violence, and brainwashing.” Does the post 1990, MMD &its promises of a Zambian paradise ring a bell??: would PF be any different or they used the vulnerable classes for their ride into Govt?? Well, We’ll wait to see!
The reality professes! The past was depressing, but the present gives “depression” a new meaning, at least for us to see…

  23. mmd chief bootlicker,as much i appreciate ur gud blogging but on this tailoring issue u have misplaced ur mind.even here in the usa, their are many people that sponsor women in tailoring becoz of advanced age in life and most of their products sell very expensive.most of the cloths we buy from china are tailored by women.what these women need is a designer,so that their products are of international standard, but depicting our cultural heritagy.otherwise the pf is moving in the right direction.

  24. Why is Kabimba always talking about bitterness? Is that how he felt when he was in opposition? Well, then he shouldn’t assume that everybody is as stupid as he is. We are tired of his *****ic rants.

  25. If you want or not Kabimba will be next president, if not adopted by Sata then he form his party and take all PF will him. Keep going President Kabimba.

  26. So it means the PF cant create jobs through the governments systems unless they form NGOS! WHAT KIND OF GOVERNING IS THIS? ALWAYS POLITICKING, PF GOVERNMENT GO TO WORK, PERIOD!

  27. For sure MMD and UPND have not yet believed that they are not in power.A well meaning Zambina will support wat this PF Government is doing.E.g The started times to open the Bars…Some of the chaps on this site will say its wrong….Bt do you think its right for one to start drinking at 07hrs till 04hrs the following morning?Wat time will one work then? This is a very good improvement for zambia that has never happened in many yrs.Congrates to the local Gov minister.

  28. What Kabimba should have done is to castigate all Zambian politicians who are bent on sposnoring their favoured media “to insult and cast aspersions on members of the clergy and traditional rulers”. Professional journalists who were frustrated by Govt-controlled media have opted to go into freelance work and formed their own online media to publish ethically accepted uncensored news. The whole World knows that it is Kabimba’s President who has been threatening, harassing and insulting the non-Catholic Clergy and well respected Traditional Leader in Western Province. Sata has harassed some traditional leaders in Chinsali and Zambezi to have them replaced by stooges who dance to his tune. Apparently, Kabimba is directing his missiles in the wrong direction.

  29. I also wouldnt miss the Zambia Watch Dog, not objective and just too vulgar language promoted here while objective and sober counter views are lost in your comment is being moderated, so will post this one on Lusaka Times and Tumfweko just to ensure my views are heard!!!

  30. In Zambia shit changes, but the fly remains the same.I thought these on-line publications were already there before PF came into power and even helped to campaign against the then MMD govt.Bla bla bla…..stop shitting and go to work.People are waiting for fulfillment of promises.

  31. the whole of a lawyer who doesnt know how Internet work. ZCTA has no capacity to censor internet content accessed in zambia. these websites are hosted in USA. how can Government Close Them? it is imposible

  32. THE ZAMBIAN WATCH DOG PROVIDES A PLATFORM FOR OPPOSING VIEWS. ITS A MANAGEMENT FACT THAT SUCCESSFUL GLOBAL TRADING COUNTRIES AND ORGANIZATIONS OWE THEIR GOOD PERFORMANCE BY ACCEPTING DIVERGENT VIEWS OF THEIR CITIZENS AND STAFF MEMBERS. IT SHOCKS ME AND MANY OTHER ZAMBIANS FOR WINTER TO CASTIGATE THE WATCHDOG!!! PLEASE DON’T CONTEMPLATE CLOSING IT! FOR US, IT IS THE ONLY FORUM WHERE WE ARE BEING HEARD IN A DEMOCRATIC DISPENSATION. THE POST DIED A LONG TIME AGO!

  33. Tailoring? soon lsk will have so many of them. market will be full of them and then they will not make cash as the service will become cheap as the market will be saturated.

  34. BITTERNESS………………..my friend had a puncture and I aptly suggested to him that it might BITTERNESS on the part of the potholed road that caused it.

  35. Who will risk taking his or her expensive material to these trained tailors? They will tailor for their babies and free donation to neighbours whcih also wont be apprciated. Mr price has better offers. Truly the PF is a govt of POLITICIAN NKOTES

  36. HH might have usd hursh words when he said “Chimbwi No Plan” but Kabimba has confirmed the truth value of that allegation. How can a party that won an election strt talking about PILOTING in Lusaka. So Lusaka is Zambia.

  37. DONT WORRY KABIMBA, THEY INSULTED PF WHEN THEY WERE IN POWER. IT NEVER WORKED.NO SENSEABLE ZAMBIAN WILL PUT A PARTY IN POWER FULL OF INSULTS.LET MMD AND UPND ROT

  38. There is no political party that is sponsoring a website or any blogger, we are living in the world technology. Even my children have access to internet, people are being connected from their homes, internet in town is very ceap: K100/minute. Who can sponsor who? these sites were there even before Poor Failures came into power and they helped in campaigning for the opposition. This Winter Maize Kamimbya does not know how Internet works. So that means if people talked openly, this Pa Fyushi govt would arrest them? Shame ba Kamimbya. Even if there is no ZWD we will tell through rallies and ZNBC and through chiefs and churches. Very dull this lawyer.
