Zambia Beat Zimbabwe in Friendly

Share

Zambia left it late to beat Zimbabwe 2-1 in a friendly played under flood-lights at Ndola’s Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Wednesday.

This was the first evening game the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.

With the game seemingly heading for a 1-1 draw, Zambia captain Joseph Sitali scored from the spot in the 82nd minute as local FIFA referee Jani Sikazwe awarded the hosts a penalty after the Zimbabwe backline had committed a foul in the box.

Defender Jimmy Chisenga gave Zambia a 37th minute first half lead with a powerful shot inside the box.

But Rodwell Chinyengetere equalised in the 71st minute after a neat exchange of passes.
Zambia coach Herve Renard had shown faith in little known players.

Some of the young stars Renard tested in the Zimbabwe friendly included Airtel Rising Stars revelation Godfrey Ngwenya, Lubambo Musonda of National Assembly and Zanaco’s Moses Phiri.

The Frenchman dropped leading local scorer Graven Chitalu who has 11 goals this season.

  1. noba ZNBC, even when the ground is a morden one, they still hav techanical faulties.are u realy going to improve in ur soccer televison? hw was that penalty made? i did watch clearly.some one to analyse.

  2. How do you use a local referee to officiate an international match.? Why did . F. A
. Z arrange for much officials from neighbouring countries? That is why you won dubiously! Galu use faz money for football matters!

  3. Don’t be shocked when the ZESCO bill comes out at the end of month, especially that it was a poorly organised mid-week cheap friendly, not very cost effective….just forward the bill to Kalu and his clowns.

  4. HOW DO YOU FAIL TO DELIVER BETTER TV AT A STADIUM LIKE MWANAWASA ? WHEN ARE WE GOING TO WAKE UP, ARE WE ALWAYS GOING TO DEPEND ON SUPERSPORT FOR BETTER SOCCER VIEWING. BIG SHAME TO CHIBAMBA KANYAMA AND YO MEN. PLZ WAKE ,BUY BETTER EQUIPMENT, ITS A DISGRACE ,AN INSULT TO THE ZAMBIAN SOCCER FAN.

  5. My eyes were shocked when i switched to SS3 to watch the Man u vs Barca game immidaetly after the freindly much, simply because of the contrast in the picture quality. Surely you’evev have the guts to ask for TV levy with such crap? Come on. Within the country,no audio? Ba chibamba, never give an office to a norvice or else u will jst spoil him.

  6. you guys, others are talking about electricity bills, others ZNBC but no one is analysing the match. the good part is HR used all the players. the goal by jimmy chisenga was superb, bruce musakanya and joseph sitali were excelent in mid field. the deffence failed to deal with that aerial ball which resulted in a goal for zimbabwe. joshua titima must also be decided when to move off his line but aatleast he is better than kakonje. this is realy a developmental squad looking at the players from last years U 20 and one school boy. evans kangwa played well considering he was injured for some time. good move HR. @ akulu mpuno, we are hummering uganda 2-0 and these are results in kampala because i dont even want to talk about the white washing in ndola.

  7. I didn’t watch this match, but the little I’ve read from fellow bloggers is worrying. Uganda will come guns blazing, yet we still don’t seem to have found an effective scoring combination. Why was the local league’s top scorer left out when the coach should have used this opportunity to Polish him up? Please don’t embarrass us by failing to qualify for AFCON when we are reigning champs. It’s not just a win that matters, but your ability to convert ALL of the chances you create, just like what Ghana did to Lesotho, and not these face-saving penalty kicks you’re creating!!

  8. What is the point of paying three thousand to ZNBC if they can continue to offer us those pathetic services. Each time you broadcast something live there is always a problem.Chibamba Kanyama after working for so long for ZNBC you still cannot do the right things. This Corporation is a disappointment to all Zambians, for how long are we going to accept your apologies you should be ashmed of yourselves surely, 49 years of independence you still cannot air something live, even small stations live MUVI TV/MOBI and RADIO ICENGELO are doing far much better than you Kabamba Kanyama and group,Govt should just give more rights to thes small station than this ZNBC station which is just watsing pipos time and money.

  9. This is how we know Chishimba Small Leopard (Mr. Hoe ) Akalukasu, though the hoe is that small yet it weeds out the all farm, sports minister chishimba kambwili you are not a failure can you prove yourself once again that you are a small hoe which weeds the intire farm no matter how large or big the farm may be the hoe weeds, Do something to ZNBC Live coverages remember 24th october is near this will be your first time airing the president live be very careful not to loose the volume on that day least the president transfere you to the newly created ministry of …. we know you are more than able to do the job better rehese with kennedy sakeni that an event like that one should not be so poorly televised. any way it was a mock drill live coverage that was the soul purpose of that match wa

  10. well done boys. you deserved to win. f*ck all the Zambia haters………… the copper bullets are the AFRICAN CHAMPIONS! GET THAT INTO YOUR THICK HEADS. NICE PERFORMANCE BY J. SITALI.

  11. PEOPLE WERE SAYING THAT GHANA WILLBEAT ZAMBIA AND GUESS WE ALL KNOW WHAT THE RESULT WAS. A WHITEWASH WAS HANDED TO THE SHAMELESS GHANAIANS!! THE HARDER UGANDA COME, THE EASIER THEY FALL. THE COPPER BULLETS ARE INDEED THE BEST ON THE CONTINENT OF AFRICA WHETHER THE HATERS LIKE IT OR NOET! WHO ARE NEXT????? BY THE WAY, FOR THAT PENALTY, PUSHING IS NOT ALLOWED IN FOOTBALL.

  12. are we not ashemed that 48 yrs after independence, football can be beamed in that colonial way?? *****s stop chopping our 3000 pin from zesco bills or else…… congrats baiche, u hav potential in abudance

  13. so people kindly do the rating of the match, how do you rate the developmental side of HR? Are we assured of continuity after the retirement of the likes of the kalabaz and the friends, though they are still a long way to go.How can the combination of the senior team and some of the youngones fare on the African continet?

  14. @chimuseo, are u worried? Zambia is a reservoir of talent boyi so no need to panic. The boys played so well yesternite, ask me, i was rite thre at L Mwanawasa stadium. Good futball, gud display, good team/talent.
